The rain event at the Delaware Beaches has left Rehoboth Beach with beautiful weather, today, Saturday….it is the perfect place to walk, shop, dine, and stay awhile. So, what’s going on?
The Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival takes place every year in the fall. Festival film submissions are due on June 28th, but reduced rates are available for films received by June 1st.
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society invites businesses and individuals to host a film at the festival in November. If you are interested, please visit http://www.rehobothfilm.com.
Until Sunday, May 18th – THE 31ST ANNUAL SIDEWALK SALE – 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., but check the stores because some hours may vary. The stores in Rehoboth Beach are bursting at their seams with so much merchandise that needs to be moved, to let room for other. Plenty of deals and fabulous finds. You can shop Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, and Route One. These bargains come tax free!!

Saturday, May 17th – KICK-OFF SUMMER PARTY – Rehoboth Beach Historical Society invites you to stop by and kick off the summer season with a canal-side party at the Rehoboth Beach Museum. The party will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Guests will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres, take chance on winning raffle prizes, purchase plants, and join as they present the Hall of Fame award to former City Manager Greg Farrese. Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Raffle tickets can be purchase at the event and are 3 for $5 or 7 for $10. Raffle items include theater tickets, jewelry, and gift cards to local retail stores. The Rehoboth Beach Museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Avenue, by the roundabout. I have noticed the traffic on Coastal Highway, up and down the Delaware Beaches, might have slowed down a bit during the week…but, on week-ends, it is just as hectic as summer. Getting out of town for the beaches for some fun and relaxation! It is a great time to experience Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, and Fenwick Island. These coastal towns have managed to capture the visitors’ attention. Restaurants are open, tons of shops from boutiques to outlets, entertainment, including theatre, music, and fundraising events. So, these are AboutMyBeaches picks if you are in Rehoboth Beach this first week-end of October.
Friday, 10/4 through Sunday, 10/6 – 37th ANNUAL FALL SIDEWALK SALE – Top merchandise at bargain prices…cleaning those shops to let the holiday merchandise have a little space. If you like to bargain hunt, this is the week-end to come to Rehoboth Beach. The sale will begin at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Some store hours may vary. The sidewalk sale also includes Dewey Beach.
Friday, 10/4 until Sunday, 10/27 – MINIATURES EXHIBITION from 5 to 7 p.m.. Free and open to the public at the Rehoboth Art League, located at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres. “Miniatures are personal objects that draw the viewer into an intimate concentrated little world that is breathtaking in its execution. Every single detail is miniaturized. They show a high standard of design and the artist’s mastery of the chosen media and palate.” This is the first Miniature Show at the League, featuring artists from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee and California. Saturday, 10/5 – BARK ON THE BOARDS on the Rehoboth Beach award winning Boardwalk!! This is a fundraising event for Delaware SPCA, who has been connecting people and pets since 1873. Happy 140th Birthday!! Register by today, October 3rd and pay a reduced fee, plus receive a free dog bandana and goodie bag!! Otherwise, on Saturday, the registration starts at 10:30 a.m. There will be pet contests, Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs, Refreshments, Doggie kissing booth, entertainment, face painting, raffles, and vendors. The Perfect Beach Day in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware!
Rehoboth Beach is doing one more rehearsal before it, officially, opens the 2012 Season. If you are visiting this week-end, have fun, and enjoy the beach.

Friday, 5/18 – Feed Me! Little Shop of Horrors. Based on the cult classic 1960’s film of the same name, the hit pop-rock musical! Presented by Clear Space Theatre Co. AUDITIONS: General & Children’s Theatre Auditions – Step into the Spotlight!! Clear Space is holding 2 auditions on Saturday, 5/19 at 10 a.m. Doors will open for performers of all ages for a general audition. This audition will serve as a search for new performers for their upcoming season, beginning with SCROOGE! Those auditing should prepare a song and monologue, as well as prepared to participate in a dance call.

There will be a reception, art sale, and dinner auction to benefit The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition in partnership with CAMP Rehoboth.
