Bodhi Kitchen, Asian Inspired, Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

“I don’t know but I am getting excited about the Shrimp Toast”, my friend B said? Let’s have it.

And here is a close up. So glad we ordered them. As you can see this appetizer was perfect for sharing. It was very good.

From the Dim Sum our next choice became our favorite. Our server said it is a favorite of customers, as well.Dim Sum are “small dishes; steamed, baked, or fried”. Each dish contains about 3 to 4 pieces. Ours had 6. Another shareable dish.

This was called Soup Dumpling.

The soup is inside. You can take the spoon, pick it up, dip in the broth an then whole into your mouth. Or you can take a bite an it will not run down your chin. It is a little thicker. It is the most delicious and not to be missed.

Bodhi Kitchen is located at 10 N 1st St., in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. Reservations would be best. There is brunch on Sunday from 11-2. Dinner 5-9. Monday through Thursday 5-9. Friday and Saturday 5-10. Happy Hour every day 5-6.

My Braised Cumin Lamb Ho Fun was delicious. soy braised shoulder, wheat noodles, chili oil, Chinese spinach, peanuts and bok choy. All the entrees are perfect for sharing. Generous portions.

A stir fried noodle dish. It is also part of the country cuisine of Thailand. The Pad Thai with our choice of shrimp at Bodhi I could certainly have again. Rice noodles, tamarind, peanuts, bird’s eye chili, bean sprouts, cilantro and lime. Those little red peppers are spicy.

Our reservation was early but it took no time to get the restaurant to get filled up.

I am glad we have more choices in Rehoboth Beach because……..

Off The Hook, Restaurant, Review, Bethany Beach, Delaware Beaches

That motto above I like. It describes my group of foodie friends. We go out to try restaurants with no occasion in mind. This time is great to do so because many restaurants offer specials.

Wednesday a couple of weeks ago that’s where we went. Off The Hook is located at 769 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach, DE. The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m.

Today 1/2 priced entrees begin at 3. Happy Hour from 3 to 6. It is very popular and they don’t take reservations. It has a nice size bar where you can dine, as well.

We all have fish. Our choices were delicious and here are some photos to feast on.

SALMON

MAHI

ROCKFISH

Good Food, Will Travel. Worth the trip. Good food, healthy, local, attentive service, Wednesday 1/2 priced entrees. Specials every day. Happy Hour every day.

Give it a try??

1906, Restaurant, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA, Holiday Decorations

Longwood Gardens is located at 1001 Longwood Rd., about 3 miles northeast of Kennett Square. It is beautiful all year round, but during the holidays it is magical. I thought we were going to miss the last weekend for the holiday decorations. They keep them up until January 7th every year.

A storm was coming but we made it. Usually when I visit Longwood we eat at a local restaurant but this time the sit down restaurant we were going to try. It is called 1906. It is named “in honor of the year Pierre S. Du Pont purchased the grounds that were developed into Longwood Gardens”.

I was warm and very comfortable. The bread in the flower was warm and truth be told I could have had that with a glass of wine and cheese?

Kennett Square Mushroom Soup was a must. If you don’t know let me tell you that Chester County is known as Mushroom Capital. More than 500 million pounds per year.

The Crab Louie was a good appetizer and those were lentil crisps. Avocados and grapefruit were a great addition.

Black Truffle Potato Gnocchi with truffle cream and pecorino. We determined that they were a tiny bit dense. Hey we ate them. By the way the portions at 1906 are generous so either share or take some home.

The Jurgielewicz Duck Ragu. Not knowing what Jurgielewicz I found out that Joe Jurgielewicz & Son, Ltd. Is one of the leading Peking duck suppliers in North America. They employ over 200 people from PA and partners with local families in here to raise JJS Peking ducks. This dish was delicious.

No dessert; we were full. We continue to see the beautiful decorations.

We wanted to keep walking through the vast gardens all lit up but the weather did not cooperate. Visitors were still in the Holiday Spirit and it was great to see.

1906 restaurant will reopen in the Spring. Please visit longwoodgardens.org because the Winter Garden Exhibit is ongoing, a Garden Photography Class 101 begins February 1st until the 22nd. And, so much more.
