One Coastal, Fenwick Island, Delaware, Restaurant, Review, Good Food, Will Travel, Southern Delaware

Love visiting restaurants on a Wednesday, here at the Delaware Beaches. A little quieter. Even though we are now in our second season, Southern Delaware Beaches are year round resorts. Long gone are the days when sidewalks were rolled up at the end of Labor Day.

My motto is Good Food, Will Travel. Our beach towns are close to one another so in my view it is no big deal to have dinner in any given town.

Our pick this week was One Coastal, 101 Coastal Highway, Suite 6, Fenwick Island, Delaware. 302-537-4790. You can make reservations through the website and check their menu by visiting:

http://www.onecoastal.com

We sat at a cozy table for two and Ryan was our server. Jess, the Manager came to greet us and I told her I was looking for that delicious pork chop they used to offer. I really did not need to read the menu. I knew exactly what I wanted. But first things first.

I ordered a Tito’s and soda with a twist. Ryan told me they did not have Tito’s but they did have Rocktown Vodka. Made also out of potatoes before Tito’s popularity. Made in Arkansas. That drink was awesome which then I proceeded to check their website http://www.rocktowndistillery.com

Started with their Beet Salad…Baywater Farms Golden Beets and Gooseberries. Candied pumpkin seeds, blue cheese and the maple vinaigrette dressing were all perfectly synchronized👍

Although it has been warm at our beaches this is Chicken and Dumplings Season. Those slippery dumplings are so delicious. Look at that photo. Their wheat dumplings were very well received and the pickled onion for a surprise flavorful addition. Love the photo.

All I can say is that 2 or 3 people could have shared my Sorghum Glazed Heritage Breed Pork Chop. I almost for forgot to take the photo as the expectation increased. Bacon braised Earl View collard Greens, Bay Water sweet potato puree, Lions Mane mushrooms, which are full of nutrients, and green peppercorn au poivre. Cooked as per the chef’s suggestion of medium rare.

It looked so good and tasted even better. A new twist to their old pork chop.

The desserts looked great but we were taking doggie bags home. Maybe next time.

Jess, the Manager, told me the outdoor seating will be looking great for next season.

I very much enjoyed talking to her. Hi Jess👏👏

Egg, Restaurant, Breakfast, Lunch, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, Review

The right to vote. Voting on election day I do by tradition and having breakfast with my neighbor after voting was the thing to do.

Our choice was Egg, located at 510 Rehoboth Ave., right before the roundabout. 302-227-3447.

This summer there was always a line but in the middle of the week is not bad.

An easy breakfast. Not to be missed if you like bacon is their Sriracha Bacon Candy. It is glazed and it tastes delicious. A staple at Egg.

We shared the Frittata that came with home fries and fruit.

It all hit the spot. Great service👏👏

This is a holiday weekend so this breakfast spot would be perfect 👍

Lewes Oyster House, Restaurant, Bar, Lewes, Delaware, Delaware Beaches

Off we went to check out the newest restaurant in Lewes, Delaware. It is called Lewes Oyster House, located at 108 2nd St., 302-644-7258.

Reservations can be made through their website http://Www.lewesoyster.com

Lewes has beautiful historic building and this one is so pretty.

I eat oysters year round and I like them salty, plump and cold. On the board at the oyster bar which is where we sat. The raw oyster menu:

I decided on the Sewasecott (left on photo) and the Mama Maria (right). Local oysters are delicious but I wanted something new.

I like the Sewasecott better than the Mama Maria. More salty.
I can’t believe I went to an oyster bar and fell in love with their wings. That’s right, that’s what we had too. A friend told me about them and I had to try them. Good, crispy wings are hard to find and these were awesome 👏

The restaurant was crowded and so was Lewes. People are out and about in a beautiful fall season.

So as the saying goes….

Enjoy the restaurants that are in Southern Delaware. Great food, ambiance and good service.

Sadie, Rescue, Jungle Jim’s Total Pet Care, Doggie Daycare, Overnight Care, Pet Sitting, Dog Walking, Dewey Beach, Delaware, A Day in the Life of a Rescue

I had to start my post with the photo above. It is so true. Sadie, my rescue, loves me. She is so funny, She barks a lot but I think she loves more the front door of our house. Her domain.

So here she was dressed for Halloween last year. People ask me what breed is she. Heinz 57, course. Short legs, bigger body, great markings. I kept her name Sadie because she has a worried look.
A couple of days a week I take Sadie to Jungle Jim’s Total Pet Care, 1705 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach, DE. 302-988-4186. The owner is Jim Caperelli. The Operations Manager is Alexa Barbaretti. They are dog lovers and it reflects in the way they care for their clients.

Sadie has a boyfriend and his name is Fonzi. He knows she’s the boss.

Halloween was a good day. In Dewey Beach Sadie and Fonzi were taken for an outing in town towards the bay by Alexa and Anthony, her husband.

First time Sadie had been in the water. She only put her foot in but took in the scenery.

She followed Fonzi’s lead and dug a hole.

It was such a pretty day and Dewey was quiet.

I have had Sadie since 2017. She trusts and she talks all the time. She has some bad habits but when you think of it who knows what she has gone through in her young life.

So all in all a good day in the life of a rescue.
