With all the Autumn Events at the Delaware Beaches….and Ocean City, Maryland….It really is the best time of the year….

 

Full steam ahead with the following events covering the beach towns of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island and Ocean City:

 

Lewes

 

Thursday, October 15th – Cinema and Art, A screening of Basquiat at The Inn at Canal Square. Reception with light refreshments begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the screening at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $15.  Please call the Rehoboth Art League at 302-227-8408 for your reservations.

Jean Michel Basquiat was the modern artist who went from living in a cardboard box in New York at 19, to becoming an instant star in the art world, to an early death at age 27.  The cast includes Gary Oldman, Benicio del Toro (from Puerto Rico), Dennis Hopper, and David Bowie as Andy Warhol.

 At the Cape Henlopen State Park – The meeting for the following 3 events is at The Seaside Nature Center inside the Park.  The tel. is 302-645-6852. Location: 42 Cape Henlopen Drive.  You will have to go inside the Park and please remember that there is a fee collected daily through November 30th.

Saturday, October 17th – Scarecrow Stuffing Contest, at 11:00 a.m.  Stuff your scariest scarecrow in this fun contest.  Entries will be displayed at the Fantasy Trail, October 23rd – 25th.  Bring old clothes, gloves, hats, etc.  Straw will be provided.  Please call to register at the above telephone number.

Saturday, October 17th – Arachnophobia, at 2:00 p.m.  Get caught in a web of discovery.  Learn which local spiders to avoid and how to sneak up on them in the wild. 

Saturday, Ocotber 17th – Hayrides Through the Park at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.  Enjoy the wonders of Cape Henlopen by hay wagon.  Tickets go on sale at the Nature Center on Saturday morning on a first-come, first-served basis.  Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.  Maximum of 6 tickets per person.  Limited to 18.  $4/person.

Saturday, October 17th – 4th Annual Wine, Cheese and Beer Tasting at the Officers Club inside the Park.  Admission: $18 in advance and $24 at the door.  Tickets are available at the Park Office, Biden Center, Lewes Printing, Lewes Gourmet and Lewes Chamber of Commerce, or call 302-644-1215.  Please note your ticket includes Park entrance.

 

Rehoboth Beach

 

Wednesday, October 14th through Sunday, October 18th is the 20th Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival.  Some of the highlights are:  The Spinners, Peter White with saxophonist Mindi Abair, Caribbean dance band Cintron an so much more. They will all be performing at several venues, including the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and the Rehoboth Beach Theatre of the Arts.  For more info. please visit www.rehobothjazz.com, or call 800-29-Music.

On Friday, October 16th at Cafe’ Sole’, at 7:00 p.m. The Lauren Lark Quartet will be performing music from the 40’s and 50’s brought into the 21st. century.  And, on Saturday, October, 17th, at 7:00 p.m. the performance will be by The Cornbread 5, authentic New Orleans Style Jazz.  For reservations, please call 302-227-7107.  Location:  44 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. 

Saturday, October 17th – Rehoboth Beach Light the Night Walk.  This is a fundraising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk.  It is an annual event to raise money for cures.  Info. at www.lightthenight.org. Walk distance is approx. 1 mile.  Check in is at 5:00 p.m. and Memorial Service is at 6:00 p.m. and the Walk starts at 7:00 p.m.  Meet at Boardwalk and Grenoble Place in Rehoboth.  Call Kate Shanahan for additional info. at 302-661-7300, ext. 26.

 

Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island

 

Saturday through Sunday, October 16th through the 18th – Fall birding week-end, sponsored by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce.  Guided kayak and walking tours in southeastern Sussex County.  For more information, please call 302-539-2100 or visit www.bethany-fenwick.org.

In Selbyville, Delaware, 4 miles west of Fenwick Island

Ocean City, Maryland

 

Friday through Sunday, October 16th through the 18th is the Free State Corvette Week-End at the Inlet Parking lot.  A week-end of Corvette enthusiasts celebrating 23 years in Ocean City with proceeds from the event going to Maryland charities.  For more info. call Wyatt Greenwalt at 410-590-5630 or visit www.freestatecorvette.com.
