I was only going to Browseabout Books to get a birthday card for my friend, Cindi. I almost did not take my camera, which is unusual, but glad I did. It is an awesome day in Rehoboth Beach. 64 degrees, no humidity, and sunny skies.
After the rain event we had this week this is a most welcomed weather. Look how good Downtown Rehoboth Beach looks. Over the years many of the visitors are becoming residents. Low property taxes, no sales tax….you feel like you are on vacation all the time. Pretty nice, right?
The Bandstand is the center of activity during the summer. Plenty of free concerts at the beach.
Even though the town looks a little quiet early in the a.m. that will change quickly. If you get a little thirsty try The Woman’s Christian Temperance Union Fountain, right there at the end of Rehoboth Avenue and facing the Atlantic Ocean. It was constructed in 1929 and in 1977 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Early risers were doing their exercises right on the beach, while others were just marking their places on the sand.
The award winning Boardwalk is looking really good, lined with Rehoboth Beach’s iconic benches.
I hope you have a great day at the DE Beaches. I am planning to. Living at the beach is priceless, and I do not take it for granted.

Everyone loves a good deal, and treasure hunting is a past time. In Bethany Beach, Delaware, the place to stop and look for antiques, lamps, sales, furniture and accessories is Beach Plum, located at 900 North Pennsylvania Avenue. It is a Treasure Hunters’ paradise.
As I was leaving town I stepped on the brakes. Visually, the store looked great. Lots of colorful items outside….Beach Plum was fully stocked.
I could not resist taking George Cole’s picture. Holding his basket he looked the part. He has owned Beach Plum for 37 years. He has also been our Sussex County Commissioner for 28 years. He opens the shop every day.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tel. 302-542-4564. The fun part of visiting Beach Plum is that it changes daily. New items come in and plenty of others go out the door. The buoys have been flying out the moment George gets them. They are only $12.50 each and are very popular these days.
If you liked the boat…..well, it sold. I think it was going to be a decorative piece…hanging?
You can call Beach Plum if you are “cleaning” house. They will be more than happy to assist you. Shopping here is never boring.
Stepping into Beach Plum’s porch you will then find many decorative wall art.
Inside, and protected from the weather, antiques, lamps and home accessories for every personal taste.
Beach Plum is known for the excellent condition of its items. There is always a personal a story, some items are rare, but others are just the “trash”, discarded, that will become someone’s treasure.
George is a fixture in the community….passing by Shelley yelled “did you sell it’? Yeah! The beauty of living in a small coastal resort is that you pretty much know everyone. Wether you think that’s good or not, I don’t know. I find it very comforting, to tell you the truth.
So, if you are looking for that special piece for the corner of your room or just love to treasure hunt….you never know what you are going to find…check out Beach Plum. The Second Season at the Delaware Beaches is perfect for this popular past time.
