The Feast of the Seven Fishes, Christmas Tradition, The Room at Cedar Grove, Lewes, Delaware, Paul Cullen, Delaware Beaches

Food serves as a way for people to come together. That’s how I ended my post last year when attending for the first time The Feast of the Seven Fishes at The Room at Cedar Grove, 32882 Cedar Grove Rd., Lewes, DE. Paul Cullen, our local culinary celebrity owns this venue, offering concerts, jazz brunch, dinners and a market. Check him out on Social Media.

This was last year’s dinner. Following is this year’s dinner.

The love of food, good wines and making new friends is what brought us together.

The Feast of the Seven Fishes in an Italian American celebration on Christmas Eve. Seafood is served with 7 different dishes offered.

The Room at Cedar Grove is intimate. Here is the menu.

Salmon and Caviar was the first course served with Prosecco.

Second Course was Baccala on Garlic Ciabatta. Served with Arneis. This is a well known dish; salted cod, reflecting the customs of the then impoverished regions of southern Italy.

The third course was Speck Wrapped Scallops also served with Arneis wine. Speck is a type of cured lightly smoked ham, from the northeast of Italy.

The Fourth course was Lobster Bisque served with a Chardonnay. Delicious.

The Fifth Course was Shrimp Scampi served with a Rose. It was served over a polenta cake, lemon butter wine sauce.

The Sixth course was a Flounder Francaise served with a Rose/Barbera. The flounder was egg battered pan fried.

Paul proceeded to give us a concert as we had our Strawberry Panna Cotta with Moscato. Yummy ending with chopped strawberries and fresh mint.

Good food, wines, music and new people….Christmas and a new year upon us.

Happy New Year. ?
