Pepper’s Greenhouses….13034 Cedar Creek Rd., Milton, DE 19968. Tel. 302-684-8092. Well, I will give you my Sussex County directions: From Rehoboth Beach go north on Rt. 1 or Coastal Highway, turn left on Rt. 16 west. Drive for a few miles and when you get to the stop sign in Milton, where the Food Lion is, turn right and immediately turn left. Follow that road for less than a mile and the Pepper’s will be on your left. That easy and worth a trip to the greenhouses.
This is a family operated busines. They have been doing so since 1985. They also have online shopping and shipping within the United States. Visit http://www.accentsforhomeandgarden.com. They only close on Tuesdays at this time of the year. On Facebook you can find them two ways: Pepper’s Greenhouse or Accents for Home and Garden.
Pepper’s takes a complete different aura in the Fall. Just like anywhere else it is a bit more quiet….well, let me correct myself. More quiet everywhere else unless you are Sea-Witching in Rehoboth Beach, or ghost hunting in Lewes….Those 2 Delaware Beaches do not stop year-round.
Pepper’s greenhouses looked beautiful the other day. The weather is cooperating so if you still have some planting to do, take a drive over. Plenty of cabbages, and winter pansies.
Strolling the greenhouses I found pineapples!!
The poinsettias are slowly turning waiting their turn!!
Pepper’s offers plenty accents for the home and garden. They also have ready made arrangements and a “forever” section of flowers…silks, etc. etc.
It is going to be beautiful today!! Check it out!

It is a gorgeous day at the Delaware Beaches and pretty soon the Downtown Rehoboth Beach will be celebrating another festival week-end!!
Plenty of places to stop for coffee in Rehoboth Beach, but Cafe A Go-Go, located in the heart of Downtown Rehoboth Beach at 102 Rehoboth Avenue has amazing coffee. Served with a smile by Jesus and Maria Ramirez; you are really going to be impressed with their coffee. Tel. 302-227-1099.
Cafe A Go-Go has been a fixture in Rehoboth for so many years now. It is comfortable, spotless, and a great place to hang out in the morning, not just to have coffee but to also have something to eat.
They serve bagels, bagel sandwiches, wraps and other goodies for easy eating at the beach.
Their Mexican Mocha can turn out to be my daily addiction. Stop by and try it!!
Jesus and Maria also serve green tea smoothies, and they do have gluten free oatmeal!!
Have a great time at the beach….Jesus and Maria also speak Spanish in case you want to practice you language.

The Upper Crust is located at 7 East Market Street, Georgetown, Delaware 19947. Tel. 302-856-2300. Website? http://www.theuppercrust.info. On Facebook you can “Like” Upper Crust Georgetown. Lots of events are being sponsored by the small and quaint restaurant across from the Courthouse…right by The Circle.
Georgetown, Delaware is the County Seat. It is “Sixteen Miles from Anywhere” in the Deep South of Delaware. We live in Sussex County and Georgetown is the County Seat. Sussex County is also referred to as “Delaware’s Dixie”.
At some time or another you might have to visit Georgetown….Some pass by Georgetown as they make their yearly or week-end trips to the Delaware Beaches. Others, make Georgetown their workplace. And, as you drive by…have you noticed how cute the streets are looking in Georgetown? Getting into the season, I should say!
My friend, Jody, and I stopped by because as it happened word of mouth told us that The Upper Crust was one to be checked. They said that everything was homemade, delish, and their service was excellent. So, we did!! We found out that everything was that and more.
The Daily Menu has specials like Cellblock Specials….it is by the Courthouse, of course. On that day I had their Quiche which was bacon, broccoli and cheddar, with a nice bold cup of coffee.
Busy in the kitchen getting ready for the day. We tasted their soup…so delicious, but it was not ready yet.
Quiches were being prepared.
Dessert anyone? At times that’s all that is needed with a cup of coffee or tea…seasonal cheesecake!
Events:
The Upper Crust will be transforming their herb garden into The Great Upper Crust Decorated Pumpkin Patch. Pumpkin registration is at The Upper Crust at 7 East Market St. in Gerogetown. Registered pumpkins will have their picture taken and posted on The Upper Crust Facebook Page (Upper Crust Georgetown). Show your creativity and register your pumpkin until October 29th. They will judged at close of business on that day. The 1st, 2nd or 3rd….could be yours!

Looking out the window, I am wondering what the heck happened to the sun? It was so gorgeous on Sunday at the beaches, that I called my neighbor and asked her if she wanted to take a walk around Rehoboth Beach.
Rehoboth Beach is a great town to walk. The Boardwalk is award-winning and the iconic benches line this popular boardwalk just in case you want to relax and people watch. Sunday was one of those days that even though it was a bit cool, the beaches were packed. Some were at the water’s edge with sweaters, some were shopping, others were just enjoying one beautiful day. And others decided to just eat and have something to drink.
The Greyhounds stayed in Dewey but they also made the rounds in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. At least they had one good sunny day this week-end.
Walking through The Pines, a neighborhood, between Downtown Rehoboth Beach and Henlopen Acres, we stopped to check out 2 Open Houses. One new construction and the other one a house that had been built in the 1940s and was still owned by the family. We got a bird’s eye view from the top of this house, whose “upper deck” was a later addition.
On our walk we stopped at Anita Peghini-Raber Gallery. It is located at 49 Baltimore Avenue. Anita is an expressionist; she is also self-taught. Website? http://www.rehobothart.com.
What’s Happening at the gallery?
Oriental Dance with Viviana on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. $10 donation at the door.
Tango de Arte takes place the last Saturday of the month. A free class from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. From 9 p.m. dance until……late. Please visit http://www.tangolewes.com.
These events are well attended and they tell me that they are so much fun!!
Hungry and late in the afternoon we decided to stop at Semra’s Mediterranean Grill. It is located at 19 Rehoboth Avenue. John and Semra are the owners and they are always at the restaurant. I cannot say enough about their cuisine. Everything is made in house. Website? http://www.semras.com. Tel. 302-727-5964. Sema’s is on Facebook. Watch for Belly Dancing Events coming up in the months to come.
You know, it is really interesting, because I can say that I can make a Mousaka, but when Mousaka is served at Semra’s it takes your palate to a different dimension. Their spices are sent by relatives and the taste is delicate, with dishes perfectly seasoned.
My dish was traditional from Semra’s city in Turkey…..except I forgot if it was called Manti, Monti…hopefully she will correct me. It was light, and Semra’s described it that way. Ground lamb with amazing spices and with just a hint of heat, topped with tzatziki (yogurt) sauce.
Off we went back to our car….Lucky to live at the beach and never take it for granted. Have a great day!!

Happy Hour will begin at Shrebreak Lodge @ The Bar at 5 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. The menu is constantly changing which is great.
My neighbor, Chris, and her friend, Barb, did not have to twist my arm when they called me last Friday, October 3rd, to see if I would join them at Shorebreak for a little Happy Hour Tapas Style.
Love Shorebreak Lodge, located at 10 Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Tel. 302-227-1007. They do accept reservations!! A novelty these days. Website? http://www.shorebreaklodge.tumblr.com.
We were the first ones there….lucky for me so that I could take photos.
Shorebreak is ready for fall season. The decorations are simple and so appropriate for this very quaint restaurant in Rehoboth Beach.
There are plenty of seating options at the restaurant. We sat at the bar to take advantage of those very reasonable prices during Happy Hour.
We were going to share: Happy Hour Tapas Style
The olives. Salty and delicious….perfect with our drinks.
Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. I do like beets and so does Barb….Chris does not like them. She was outnumbered….she ate the greens. There were two colors of beets.
Brussel Sprouts, Bacon and Fig Jam….Loved them. I probably would have cooked the sprouts one more minute, nevertheless they were very good.
Crab & Pumpkin Dip. Good combination with the pumpkin not overpowering the crab.
I love Mussels and with chorizo, even better…..always comparing to the ones from Liquid Assets in Ocean City, Maryland. These were close. Tender, with a well seasoned broth and grilled bread for dipping, of course.
Chatting with others that were joining us at the bar….then it was time to go. Always priceless, having something to eat with friends!!

I really do not sew…clueless. Not planning on learning either. But, I do know when I see savings at the end of the tunnel. For so many years, I went to the Sewing Outlet located at 121 North Main Street, Federalsburg, Maryland 21632. Tels. 410-754-8961 and 800-734-8961.
This company has been in existence since 1967, with the word OUTLET. Outlet was not even in the horizon in Rehoboth Beach at that time. But, at the Sewing Outlet the savings were tremendous even back in those times. For all of you that do “outlet” shopping, I believe Ocean Outlets, in Rehoboth Beach opened in April, 1989. They were called Ocean Outlets back then and the developer was Land Design. The first phase opened with 90,000 sq.ft. with 30 stores, carrying brandname merchandise at discount prices. Parking for 475 cars. Those were the beginnings and if you have shopped at the outlets in Rehoboth you know that the expansions of the rest of the phases were incredible…also, with new owners as Tanger Outlets.
So, when my friend, Jody, told me she was looking for fabric for slipcovers for a couple of sofas and pillows, it was a no brainer to pass on to her this info. I also volunteered to go on our expedition. I do not think I had been to the Sewing Outlet in about 15 years or even more. From the Delaware Beaches is takes about 45 minutes or a bit more to get there. Going through the back roads..
Upon arriving at Federalsburg, it felt as if time had not changed this smalll town. It amazes me how towns that are on the river with so much to offer just stand still. Federalsburg is near Seaford, Denton, and Easton but the town is soooo quiet.
The Sewing Outlet opens Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Their email address is Sewout@verizon.net. For anyoyone planning to do or have someone else do any sewing, I can tell you that this is the place to go. It is almost a one stop shopping with commercial and business services, slipcover and upholstery fabrics, trims, hardware, pillow forms, supplies, tools, decorating services, including custom window treatments, custome bedding, and most of all;a very experienced staff.
The Sewing Outlet has hundreds of fabrics, including upholstery fabrics in stock. Over 1,000 sample books for special orders, as well, with incredible savings.
Don’t be shy to ask…you will be getting the help you need. Experience is a key word in this store.
Wallpaper in stock.
Decorative trims, supplies and tools.
Hardware…
The Sewing Outlet has an 8,000 sq.ft. showroom.
Word of mouth is wonderful thing!!
Check these prices!!
Have a great day.

It was Saturday….yesterday. My friend, Chris and I were in Lewes. That time of the day when you start thinking about lunch. Granted, I usually go for lunch to Agave. Cannot take the wait in the evening. So we tried it at around 12:30 p.m. and….surprised, surprised…shocked, really!! No line.
Agave is one of those restaurants that really has made it at the Delaware Beaches. The food is consistenly food. You really get served food on your plate and the prices are so reasonable. A total winner. It is located in Historic Lewes at 137 2nd Street. Tel. 302-645-1232.
Checking out the baked good behind the counter made me think…wow, I need to try to make some meringues!!
This was going to be a quick lunch.
The corn bread at Agave is delicious!! Get it!
The Mango and Avocado Salad with the ever present “queso fresco”…a must.
I have had most offerings on the menu….a simple soup can say so much….their Chili is one of my absolute musts!!! So much that at 94 degree temperature….I had to have it. Just as good as ever!! Order it!
Agave is gluten free friendly. Most dishes can be made gluten free. Please make sure to ask your server.
Guess what? There was a line when we left.
Have a great day!
