Events in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Milton, Delaware and Ocean City

A few fun things to do while here at the beaches:

“Lewes Steps Out For Fitness”  This event is for the young and old alike. It is getting people together to do something fun and healthy for you.  The date is July 30th and registration is at 5:30 p.m. at the Lewes Beach Parking Lot.

Basically, you will walk to Canal Front Park on Front St. There, at the park, there will be belly dancing to move and relax your body. Then return on the same walk back to the Lewes Beach Parking Lot.

While you are in Lewes, go get something to eat in one of the great restaurants this town has to offer. By that time it will be easy to park since the meters are not in effect after 6:00 p.m.

In the town of Milton, Delaware, which is about 25 minutes away, give or take with the traffic you will find the Milton Theatre. The play on July 31st and August 1st and 2nd is A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Friday and Saturday showings are in the evening and start at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Check out their web site www.miltontheatre.com  and you may buy the tickets on line. The theatre is located on 110 Union St., Milton, DE 19968 and their tel. is 302-684-3400

If you find yourself on the beach in Rehoboth you might want to walk to the north end of the boardwalk, to Fisherman’s Beach. The 31st Annual Sandcastle sculpting event will be held there on August 1st and it is free. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and judging begins at 3:00 p.m. There is also a children’s division. You have to follow certain rules like the sculptures may only contain objects natural to the beach, manpower only and the sculptures are not to be wet down or sprayed. Should be fun.

Ocean City, Maryland is getting ready for the 36th Annual White Marlin Fishing Tournament. It will be August 3rd until August 7th. You may go on their web site www.whitemarlinopen.com/

The fun part for spectators like me would be to go for the weigh-in which starts at 4:00 p.m. until 9:15 and is free of charge, at the Harbour Island Marina located on 14th st. and the Bay. There is no parking at the Marina but you can park within a few blocks and you may also park at the Presbyterian Church on 14th st. Just give them a donation. There will be Park & Ride shuttle service from the Convention Center.
