It’s a Celebration!, The end of The Parking Meters, Hello Second Season, Delaware Beaches

100_1752

We do celebrate the end of the parking meters in our Delaware Beaches.  Well, 10 minutes for a quarter is a bit much. I think our residents and visitors did enjoy using the new Parking App.  No need to carry all those quarters.  It was very convenient for those with a smart phone.

But what am I complaining about?  I was in Baltimore, Maryland a couple of weeks ago.  I parked in a garage right downtown.  I only used it for 38 minutes.  As I handed out my ticket to the parking cashier, he said “none”.  I said; wow thanks!!  He kept saying “none”.  In reality he was saying “nine”.  I just could not understand him.  I laughed sooo hard.  Can you believe it? $9 for 38 minutes.  Now I don’t feel so bad about our beaches charging a quarter for 10 minutes.

Pretty soon you will be able to park with no worries.  Stay as long as you want in most places.  The schedule is as follows:

Bethany Beach – Parking meters are in effect through Saturday, 9/15.

Rehoboth Beach – Parking meters are in effect through Sunday, 9/16.

Dewey Beach – Parking meters are in effect through Sunday, 9/15.

Fenwick Island – Parking meters are in effect through Sunday, 9/15.

Lewes – Parking meters are in effect through Sunday, 10/14 in the Historic District.  This includes the 1812 Lot.

Lewes Beach – Parking meters are in effect through Sunday, 9/30.

Please note that the Delaware State Parks entry fees are in effect until Friday, 11/30.  Fees are as follows:

Ocean Parks:

$4 for in-state registered vehicles or $8 for out of state registered vehicles.

Inland Parks:

$3 for in-state registered vehicles or $6 for out of state registered vehicles.

The Second Season at the Delaware Beaches is the best!!
