Mango Mania! Smoothie, Easy, Refreshing, A Summer Favorite!! Good Morning Delaware Beaches

Florida Mangoes

Florida Mangoes

Hot weather, blue skies….the beach.  This one is for the diet concious!

In Rehoboth Beach, Giant is my source for mangoes, 4 for $5…in Florida, they are plentiful, and most of the time free for me.  And, when I was growing up in Puerto Rico, practically every house had mango tree and I would, literally, sit with a bag of mangoes in front of me and start eating them.  No knife needed, either.

Mangoes are native of India.  They are the most cultivated fruit of the tropical world.

Local Delaware strawberries are small, sweet and delicious…..so why not a little Mango Mania and Strawberries?

MANGO MANIA SMOOTHIE

1 cup fresh mango chunks, chilled

3 tsps. lime juice, unstrained and chilled

1 1/2 cups strawberries, fresh sliced and chilled

12 oz. diet gingerale, chilled

Put mango, lime juice, and strawberries in the blender and whirl until smooth.

Tilt the blender and gradually pour gingerale downside to avoid too much fizz.

Pour into a neat, tropical looking glass and serve.

Love it When it Snows at The Beach…Again! Is Green the New “It” color for the Season? TaDa, Berlin, Maryland

Once again, we come back from a “heat” wave in February to a beautiful snowy day.  It is quiet and the snow is a bit wet.  It is about 34 degrees and it is so pretty.

dscn1179

I remember how much I carried on about my fig tree this past summer.  Some are waiting for the 2013 crop!!  Look at it then.

dscn7359

Look at it now….cold and bare.

dscn1183

Against the snow the green looks fantastic and someone told me that the “in” or “it” color for the season is green.  Blair, owner of Tada, located at 18 North Main Street in Downtown Berlin, Maryland has a shop where you can find gifts for all occasions. Tel. 410-641-4430.  Website?  http://www.berlintada.com.

In a corner of the shop you will see Blair’s artistic talent come to life.  She makes one of a kind necklaces…her imagination taker her to mix and match beautiful stones.  Thought I let you know in case you are looking for something for Valentine’s.

Lunch, Shop, Stroll, Berlin, Maryland, The Atlantic Hotel, TaDa….Historic Berlin

dscn5871

I took a walk this morning and what a change from yesterday’s almost summer weather to….Hello Fall!!  It is one of those days; perfect to get in the car and drive to the Historic Town of Berlin, Maryland.  This town dates back to the 1790’s.  It is preserved in such a way that you really get a feel what it would have been like so many years past.

dscn0046

The Atlantic Hotel is a perfect example.  Since 1895 it has had a presence in Berlin.  Right in the center of Historic Berlin.  Lunch, dinner or enjoy a drink at the bar.  I have had lunch there many times.  This last time I was with my friend Debbie.  We sat out on the porch which is great because you can see the comings and goings of this charming town.

Our lunch consisted of Fish Tacos, tasty and colorful.

The Fish & Chips were so good.  I have not had them in a long time and it was a special of the day.

dscn5888

That’s was lunch, perfectly satisfied.  Nothing else was needed.

Strolling through Main Street took us to TaDa.  This shop is owned by a Mother & Daughter Team; Patty & Blair.   TaDa is located at 18 N. Main St., Berlin, MD 21811.  Tel. 410-641-4430.  TaDa has gifts for everyone on your list.  Personal attention and warm smiles…always!!

Personal Attention?, Why Not Shop Local?, TaDa, Historic Berlin, Maryland, Accessories, Shoes, One of a Kind Jewelry, Kids’ Corner

dscn0044

I have never been one to shop in big malls.  I know, I know, the majority of people do.  I don’t even go when there is not a holiday around the corner.  So, why would I go when at the holiday season all I will get is full parking lots, long lines at the cash register, attendants are busy and a little short?

I like those small shops that you find in every single town, or city.  In these shops you get the personal attention you need.  My favorites are the local shops in the Delmarva Peninsula; the towns of Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, Ocean View, Ocean City, and Berlin among them.

So, no hustle and bustle; peace and serenity is what I want.  One such shop is TaDa in the Historic town of Berlin, Maryland.  I have written about it before and I just wrote a post on its sister store, TaDa Home.  These are the shops that are worth visiting over and over again.  New merchandise gets updated all the time.

TaDa is located at 18 N Main St., Berlin, MD 21811.  Tel. 410-641-4430.  Website?  http://www.blairelizabeth.com.  At any given time you will find Blair, Patty, Christine and even Brooke.  They are responsible for everything on the store to look just right.

Being that the Holidays are upon us I wanted to show you some of the items that make TaDa a must stop shop in Berlin.

dscn0114

TaDa has a Children’s Corner with lots of cute presents for babies.  The store has tote bags, scarves, shoes, bags, personalized items and even fun presents for the bride to be.

New colors had just come in – the flats

TaDa carries jewelry but the one that attracted by attention is the one designed and handmade by Blair Elizabeth.  The stones and color combinations are, definitely, fun, casual with an understated elegance.

TaDa, Berlin, Maryland, Home Accents, Hand Painted Glassware, Gifts, Jewelry

It’s interesting how when the town of Berlin, Maryland is described, it is mentioned that is like traveling back into the past.  It’s not just back into the town’s own past history but also my own.

I have mentioned that this is where my children spent their primary school years so believe me when I tell you that Berlin became my home, as well.  And, every time I visit, I cannot help to reminisce.

Berlin is in Worcester County.  The town is west of Ocean City, Maryland and dates back to the 1790s.

This is another of those towns where the citizens have worked hard to preserve its history and charm.  The renovations of the town and its historic preservation are, definitely, a cooperative effort.

Restaurants and shops line Main Street in Berlin.  This town is well known.  The movie industry loves it.  Two major motion pictures have been filmed here.  In 1998 Runaway Bride with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts and in 2001 Tuck Everlasting with Sissy Spacek, Ben Kingsley and William Hurt.

I decided to visit Tada on Wednesday because it is the perfect place for what I was looking for.  A wedding gift.  I figure that Patty and Blair would be able to help me since they knew the bride.

The mother and daughter team that owns this beautiful store?  Patty Falck and Blair Elizabeth (Blair Falck Parsons).  Yes, she got married.

100_2564

Coming into TaDa at this time of the year gave me the same impression as when I visited in the Fall.  The beautiful colors, now even brighter as the summer season is upon us.  The displays are perfectly located.  Only someone with an artistic eye could put them together in such a way.

Patty is an artist.  She paints for her store but accepts custom orders.  Her painted glassware has a following.

Blair is also an artist; designing and making her own jewelry.  Mother and daughter are definitely a team.

TaDa has something for everyone.  Wether you are looking for home accents, a gift for someone close, art, tableware, they have it.

100_2587

It was a Wednesday and all of a sudden the store was packed.  Patty and Blair were so at ease talking to everyone.  The customers really engaged them in conversation.  And, that’s what I love about shopping in the local stores in all of our towns; you get to know their owners.

This store is always on my “must stop shop”, and it still takes my breath away.

Have a great day….it’s beautiful out…
