I bumped into Deanna as I was taking pictures of a beautiful day in Lewes. The weather was a bit cooler and I am, definitely, ready for it…and what a difference a few days make.
I followed Deanna into her own store….Deanna’s, located at 111-113 Second Street, Lewes, DE 19958. Tel. 302-644-1112. Second Street in Historic Lewes is Main Street. Lots of shops and restaurants are found on this street and surrounding streets, as well.
It seems like it was just yesterday but Deanna has had her store for about 19 years. The store has merchandise catering to a wide range of ages. You will find Deanna and Ashley, her daughter, receiving customers, chatting with them, and making them feel at home as they shop in a store that has all those indispensables that we love here at the beaches. And if you are shopping with your significant other….there is a nice comfortable sofa to make him feel at home or if you want to rest a bit.
Casual clothing, jeans and sweaters.
Shoes…summer and winter.
Dresses….
Perfect for this time of the year…These long tees are flying out of the store.
For the little ones….look what I found!
So, remember that in spite of the rain…the stores are open, tax free shopping in Delaware and Columbus Week-End is Here!! And, are the Sales!

I remember it well. It was last Sunday when the temperatures were in the 50s. Historic Lewes is pretty year round. But, on that day it was just amazing. People were outside, enjoying what visitors come here for; blue skies, the quaint towns, our beaches, our shops and our restaurants.
I decided to visit Josh. He is the owner of Shorebreak, located at 115 Savannah Rd., Lewes, Delaware. Tel. 302-6450-8488. Website? http://www.shopshorebreak.com. I visited him when he first started the store and now, after a couple of years in business, he has found success in his hometown. Yes, he is a local guy!!
There are not that many men shops in our area, so it is great to showcase the ones that offer that casual type of clothing that go hand in hand with our relaxed way of living at the beach.
Shorebreak opens Thursday through Monday; 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. During the summer season, they are open every day.
You will find lots of easy comfortable fabrics, clothes with a light and relaxed feel.
At the present time, you will also find a few sales going on. Is that time of the year.
Some of the brands that you will find at Shorebreak are Southern Tide (polos and sportshirts), Kuhala (Hawaiian type shirts), Matix, Cutter & Buck, Costa del Mar (sunglasses), Sanuk & Reef (footwear) and Woolrich.
Shorebreak carries a line of apparel by another local guy, Corey Schab. It is call L Town, which is short for the town of Lewes, DE. Their products are eco friendly. The line “symbolizes the relaxed and “chill” life of growing up in a small coastal community”.
Not only does the shop offer clothing but they do also have gifts.
Shorebreak has online shopping, and free shipping for orders of $100 or more. Just visit http://www.shopshorebreak.com
Stop by….Josh will be more than happy to meet you. He really is very friendly!!
Have a good one!!

Independent boutiques, vintage shops. It is all about finding a niche and discovering what Historic Lewes has to offer.
Take, for example, Aqua Marine. It is located at 114 Second St., Lewes, DE 19958. Tel. 302-644-4550. You can find them on Facebook. New!! A website!! www.aquamarineat114.com.
This boutique is owned by Maureen. You will always find her and her mother at their shop. Both of them will take care of you like there is no other customer at the boutique. They are friendly, will tell you exactly how your outfit fits and give you constructive ideas.
Aquamarine is full of merchandise. Lots of bright colors this summer. Oranges, blues, yellows, you name it.
Aqua Marine has plenty of flirty sandals to add fun to your summer outfits. Stop by and see what I mean when I tell you that the shopkeepers of our Delaware Beaches are the Best!!
Talk to you later…have a good one.

It used to be that there was Black Tie, Semi-Formal, and Casual. Times have changed and the new designations on how you should be dressed for a particular ocassion are: White Tie, Black Tie, Creative Black Tie, Black Tie Optional, Semi-formal, Festive Attire, Business Formal, Business Casual, Dressy Casual, and, finally, Casual… This last designation is pretty much khakies or good jeans, cargo or Bermuda shorts, plain t-shirt (no slogans, please), polo shirt or turtleneck, casual button-down shirt, sweater, loafers, sneakers (with or without socks), or sandals.
That’s our way of living, here, at the Delaware Beaches. That’s why this coast is so popular; we live a casual atmosphere and it reflects in the way we also dress.
With that in mind I have to tell you that back in 2009, I was out and about in Lewes. It was just a few months since I had started AboutMyBeaches. Looking for material, checking the restaurants and shops. I had not yet started including pictures on my blog.
I stopped at a brand new shop called Shorebreak, at 115 Savannah Rd., Lewes. It was right in downtown historic Lewes, where Second St. meets Savannah Rd. Tel. 302-645-8488. Josh Barr was and is the owner of this men’s wear shop. He is a local guy, went to school with one of my sons, and it was great to see him open this shop. He was looking forward to this new adventure.
Last week I decided to stop by and check Shorebreak out. It was wonderful to see the shop again, with beautiful merchandise. Most of all, it was great to see how Josh has really become a shopkeeper. He was so confident, knew his brands well; so friendly and easy to talk to.
The Delaware Beaches only have a few men’s shops that are owned, individually, by locals. Josh told me he carries everything from Southern Tide, Cutter & Buck, Original Penguin, Life is Good, sweaters and pullovers, flannels, sunglasses, swim shorts, shorts, hats, sandals, and casual footwear.
Here is what his shop looks like:
Belts, hats, ties, shorts, and sunglasses. Shorebreak is open every week-end at this time of the year, but you might also find him there, unexpectedly, during the week. You can give him a call in case you need something asap. There are also good sales taking place at this time, as well.
Sandals and casual footwear.
The bottle openers are always popular.
As I was walking through the store a small sign caught my attention. Another local guy, Corey Schab, has local t-shirts, L-Town, also reflecting the small, coastal town living of Lewes, Delaware. Shorebreak is carrying the t-shirts; high quality material and good looking, as well.
Small town shopping…Historic Lewes…residents, shopkeepers…priceless!!
