Update, Parking Ticket, Rehoboth Art League’s 38th Annual Outdoor Fine Art & Craft Show, Town of Henlopen Acres, Delaware Beaches

This a post that is to the point; short and sweet.  I mentioned that as I was enjoying the art and craft show at the League in Henlopen Acres, my car was being ticketed.  Upset, indeed I was.

I visited this morning with the League’s Executive Director, Sheila Bravo.  We definitely had a nice conversation.  The parking in Henlopen Acres is definitely a problem when an event such as this one is being held.  Ms. Bravo did not know that people were parking on that road, therefore, nobody was there to tell visitors not to park on the street.

The sign?  It was put afterwards by a neighbor that was feeling sorry for people getting tickets.  Mind you that there were a lot of tickets given on that day.

The Rehoboth Art League is meeting today with the appropriate personnel in order for this not to happen again.

The Town of Henlopen was very gracious and professional and no since no signs were posted on that street before I parked, my ticket was voided.

So, thanks to both of you!!

Have a great day!!  Talk to you later…

The Rehoboth Art League and its location is the perfect setting for an outdoor art and craft.  This week-end and next week-end is the Rehoboth Art Leagues’s 38th Annual Outdoor fine Art & Craft Show in Rehoboth.

img_6448

My friend, Gayle, and made our appearance early.  It was so nice walking throught it all.  We picked our favorite exhibitors and we also wished they would have had more crafts.  The art show is bursting with paintings; more so than crafts.

img_6432

These were some of my favorite exhibitors:

img_6399

Anita Peghini-Raber – She has made Rehoboth Beach her home.  Naturalistic Expressionism.  You can visit her website www.rehobothart.com and see what she is all about.

Another exhibitor that caught my attention was the jewelry made by Astrid Peterson.  She had some unique designs with semi precious stones.  I noticed how she worked with her customers; friendly, taking time to explain the stones and the process of jewelry making.  Her website? www.astridpetersonjewelry.com.

We decided to get some iced tea at The Point Coffee House, which had its owns special corner, serving some delicious and tempting goodies.  Their website is www.thepointcoffee.com.  Can’t wait to visit them in Rehoboth Beach.

A potter was immersed in his craft with an audience of young children.

img_6415

We came across The Happyrock Pottery.  The potter is Susan Gladstone.  Her studio is at Celebration Mall, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.  You can e-mail Susan at thehappyrock@earthlink.net.

Gayle and I were so impressed with her work.  Her colors were gorgeous and the pottery was just the right size.  Her prices were very reasonable, as well.

Town of Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Art League, Rehoboth Beach…Parking on residents lawns is the acceptable thing to do….What?, Run that by me one more time, please!!

img_6455

What a nice morning it was!  Definitely, was.  I arrived with my friend, Gayle, at the 38th Annual Outdoor Fine Art & Craft Show located at the Rehoboth Art League.  There were cars parked everywhere, on lawns, on the streets, as well.  Nobody was blocking anyone.

The Rehoboth Art League is one of the places I enjoy bringing visitors.  It is in the Town of Henlopen Acres.  It is so unique.  The art and craft show was very nice.

As I got back to my car I noticed the ticket on the window.  When I arrived at 10:15 a.m. there were no signs anywhere to be found that said No Parking.  Nothing, not at the League, not at the entrance of Henlopen Acres. I have not found it on the brochure or the website.

img_6456

The hand written sign said no parking; believe me when I say it was not there.  I called the 24 hour security phone 302-542-3323.  I spoke to Officer Bennet, who is, I think, the one that gave me the ticket.  “You need to call on Monday the Town Hall”.  Talk to the Manager.

Okay….then my next stop was at the League again.  Their response was that they try to work with the Town of Henlopen Acres and pretty much they seemed to have washed their hands off.

That answer was so lame…All I could think of was Entrance to the show $5, exit $50.   If I was the Rehoboth Art League I really would be so embarrassed.

Hello…it is your event.  For years people come to support you.  It is your responsibility to inform all of us where to park.  I know Henlopen Acres has their own rules and regulations but I did not know I had to park on the residents lawns.

I live in Rehoboth; not in Henlopen Acres.  I feel so disappointed.  I paid $5 to get into your show; only to have a $50 ticket waiting for me at the car.

If I sound upset, it is because I am.  I did not block the street and that sign was not there at 10:15 a.m.

Note:  Stay tuned for a follow up post after speaking to the Town Hall.

A blog is a diary; my own….so what have you done today?   Have a good one!!
