Is that time of the year when getting colder up north means that you are either a Snowbird or a Snowflake. I think I am in the category of the Snowflake. The snowflakes just come and go. Don’t get me wrong, I like cold weather, within reason. But, the other day I saw that someone had written on Facebook, where else? I love it when it gets cold up north. It was from someone that had a business in South Florida. And, yes, the season has begun. The airports are a little crowded, reservations are a most in some of the most sought after restaurants. You know the drill, right?
When I opened my computer I saw that even though it is going to warm up during the day…38 degrees in Rehoboth Beach….hmmmm this post was then much needed.
I have been in Delray Beach now since 2003. You have heard me go on and on about how unobstructed the beaches are here. No tall buildings, just a few things are needed to enjoy the beach; the water with beautiful color and it is so clear. That’s what originally attracted me to this town. Also, it reminded me of Rehoboth Beach, my home.
When my husband I first came here, we were sitting at a restaurant having breakfast and we picked up a real estate magazine. We thought we would just look around. Beach House Management – Michael Keegan is the Property Manager that I have used since 2003. Being out of town, having a property management company to take care of your place is not a luxury, but a necessity. I have to laugh because when you visit Beach House Management’s website, you will find a list of services provided by them. If I had to tell you the services Michael has provided for us, there would be no end. Many are listed there but the majority are not. Some funny and some not so funny.

Different events happened in my life in 2010. One of them was a kitchen fire in my place in Delray Beach. We were lucky that nobody was hurt. All of a sudden companies were knocking on our doors to ‘help us” get our place back together. I could not believe it. It was like they were attached to a radio, following fire and flood disasters.
Since my place of residence is Delaware, I do have a Property Manager in Delray Beach. I have written about him in the past. I have known Michael for years and I am not ashame to say that I could not live without him. He has been a constant since we first purchased in Delray. My family has certainly kept his property management services busy. And it does not stop there. He has also helped my children while in Delray so many times.
Having a property manager means to me peace of mind; it is not a luxury, but a necessity. He is always there; just a phone call away. That’s exactly what happened back on April, 2010 when there was a kitchen fire. Michael was at our place on that moment’s notice already contacting the people that were important at that time.

Dan was incredible. The fire happened in April and I probably met Dan in late June. But, every Monday he called us with the updates. Yes, our conversations were all handled through the telephone. He took care of emptying the contents of our place. He had everything cleaned. He dealt with the insurance company. That is his specialty. I trusted him so much that he picked my appliances, tiles, kitchen faucet and gave me directions on how to get through something like this without falling apart. Easy, one day at a time. He is cool, calm and collected.
The place has turned out so nice, so here are the results, after kitchen replaced, floors replaced, furniture and clothing cleaned, painting, replacing curtains (he brought the fabric samples). It really was definitely a lot of work for Dan, but he got it done.
I even had him put a cabinet, countertop and sink in a half bath that was not part of the restoration.
But wait, I am not finished. There was water damaged upstairs and another claim had to be filed and floors replaced. He took care of it all.

Continuing with my previous post about Delray Beach, I will have to mention 3 companies that I have dealt with for many years. I can truly recommend them to you as very reliable, competent and professional.
As the season starts in South Florida and as our weather turns a little colder you might want to check out Delray Beach. It is funny because some of my friends that already have properties there keep telling me to keep it quiet; they don’t want people to discover this Village by the Sea. I think the word is out, though.
Tauriello & Company – Real Estate. “Matching People with Properties”. I have used them to purchase real estate in Delray Beach. Cheran Tauriello has lived in Delray for many years and is very capable of showing the right property for you. Beach House Management, LLC – Michael Keegan – What can I tell you about this company and Michael? Over the years he has been more than a property manager; more like a friend and someone that I can fully trust with everything.
He has helped my children while they were living in Florida and just recently was very instrumental in helping us deal with a fire in our townhouse. He found us Dan Palmer who was responsible for the restoration. I will have to write about him later, as well.
