Off The Hook, Restaurant, Bethany Beach, Casual, Lunch, Happy Hour, Dinner, Delaware Beaches

Off The Hook is their first restaurant in Bethany Beach located at 769 Garfield Pkwy. It is about a mile or so west of Bethany. It is very popular. No reservations. 302-829-1424. It has a nice bar and you can eat there too. Let’s see what else? It is one that I frequent with my girlfriends from Ocean City. We can drive half way. Plus, I have never had a bad meal there.

Off The Hook opens at 11:30. Lunch menu, bar menu, dinner menu and cocktail and wine menu. 😃

Specials almost every day. Please have in mind that specials are dine in only. Half priced entrees start at 3 p.m. until closing, available Monday through Thursday. Pretty good deal.

I think you have all the info. So let me tell you what we had. First we got there at 6 and we did have to wait. That’s a popular hour. Maybe a little later may be best.

Drinks and conversation…catching up, right? I got a Prosecco Rose.

In a mood for Salmon I went with their Roasted Salmon. It had drunken cherries, spinach, parsnip whip, cherry gastrique and crispy parsnip.

I almost forgot. Please try the bread. It was delicious 👏👏

Look at this other dish. Cioppino. This is actually an Italian/American dish that originated in San Francisco. A fish stew. Shrimp, scallops, mussels, fin fish, sweet sausage, a beautiful and savory tomato broth. Topped with a crostini. Perfect.

Guess what? That was our meal.

I hope you have a gorgeous weekend. The beach towns are crowded.

Off The Hook, Restaurant, Review, Bethany Beach, Delaware Beaches

That motto above I like. It describes my group of foodie friends. We go out to try restaurants with no occasion in mind. This time is great to do so because many restaurants offer specials.

Wednesday a couple of weeks ago that’s where we went. Off The Hook is located at 769 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach, DE. The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m.

Today 1/2 priced entrees begin at 3. Happy Hour from 3 to 6. It is very popular and they don’t take reservations. It has a nice size bar where you can dine, as well.

We all have fish. Our choices were delicious and here are some photos to feast on.

ROCKFISH

Good Food, Will Travel. Worth the trip. Good food, healthy, local, attentive service, Wednesday 1/2 priced entrees. Specials every day. Happy Hour every day.

Give it a try??

Bethany Beach Eats! Off The Hook, Restaurant, Bethany Beach, Delaware, Southern Delaware, Good Food, Will Travel

Catching up, telling stories, laughing, and sharing a meal.  Priceless moments I never forget.  That is what happens when my friends and I get together.  Three of them coming from Ocean City, Maryland, and myself from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, the perfect halfway point was Bethany Beach.

It has been some time since I have visited Off The Hook.  It is known for its fresh food and their use of local vendors; supporting everything local.  It is located at 769 Garfield Parkway, a mile or so west of Downtown Bethany Beach.  Tel. 302-829-1424.  Website?  http://www.offthehookbethany.com.

Every day, except Saturday, there is a Special.  The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m.  When visiting the website above mentioned make sure you click on Specials.  They have some pretty good ones.  And, let me remind you that they do not accept reservations.  The restaurant is small but with plenty of tables.  I don’t think this time of the year is a problem, but come Summer 2016, that might be another story.  Just plan ahead.

On the Board….the Specials of the Day

Our server was attentive and had a sense of humor.  Quickly a delicious bread was brought to the table.

I was looking around….Off The Hook was crowded and we were eating early.  It was Fish n’ Chips night and 1/2 off pints (bottled).  It brought locals and visitors, as well.   In the meantime some wine and a Cosmo for the table.

A discussion of what to eat followed. The Charred Broccoli Salad was excellent.  Great for sharing.  Two salads for the table served 4 people. It had roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onion, bacon, bleu cheese crumbs, and a warm mustard vinaigrette.

Also on the special was the Sheepshead…this is a saltwater fish from the Atlantic that you see more and more on the menus.  It is an ugly fish.  So 3 out of the 4 of us decided to have it.  It was fried, over smokey roasted cauliflower, Pecorino polenta, baby kale, pickled raisins, toasted pine nuts and pancetta vinaigrette.  Two of my friends were totally satisfied.  The other one said it was good but maybe a little dry.

More wine for the table and an appearance of a beautiful Salted Caramel Martini.

I had decided on the Grilled Salmon…It was over charred broccoli, wild mushrooms, leeks, smoked bacon, broccoli puree, meyer lemon yogurt and pickled mustard seed.  Excellent and perfectly cooked.  A nice portion, as well.

No dessert was necessary, we were perfectly satisfied plus you know, summer is around the corner.

Have a good one!!

Bethany Beach Eats! Off The Hook, Restaurant, Lunch, Dinner, Alfresco Dining….Love the Crunchy Tuna Lettuce Wraps!! Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

It was just a quick lunch…that’s what Debbie and I wanted.  Spending the day in Bethany Beach, it is amazing to see how many restaurants are now offering lunch. I remember when that was not the case and Bethany was a dry town.  Things have changed quite a bit since the mid 70’s.  Our choice was Off The Hook, located at 769 Garfield Pkwy. or Rt. 26, just a mile or so west of Bethany Beach.  Tel. 302-829-1424.  Website?  http://www.offthehookbethany.com.

Off The Hook opened in 2010 in Bethany Beach and was received with open arms.  You can have lunch or dinner, or both…and even have a little alfresco dining.

The restaurant is small and cozy.  The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable.

My friend Debbie had the Arugula n’ Melon Salad….local melon, crispy prosciutto, goat cheese, chive crumb and a champagne orange vinaigrette….topped with grilled salmon.  This is a favorite of Debbie’s so it goes without saying that she likes it!!

I was looking for something light…too much eating lately if you get my drift.  I spotted the Crunchy Tuna Lettuce Wraps and they were really good.  They had seared tuna, avocado, pickled carrots, pea shoots, and spicy peanuts with a Japanese Wasabi Mayo.  All the distinctive combinations of foods and those pickled carrots hit the spot.

I almost forgot to tell you that the prices were very reasonable….the restaurant was crowded for lunch.  See you.

Note:  Gluten Free Awareness
