No words are necessary to explain the following photo. It has been warm at the Delaware Beaches and it is the end of December!! Thrashers French Fries with Salt & Vinegar. The best grub on the Boardwalk.
On the corner Dolle’s was also open selling what they have been selling for years, popcorn and taffy among other favorites.
On Rt. 1 the outlets were packed and the highway was definitely busy. In Downtown Rehoboth Beach it was like any other summer day at the beach, except that even though people were wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts, I did not see any bathing suits. Other than that people were on the beach, walking the Boardwalk, pets were out, and life was good today.
The Winners for the 201 Holiday Windown Decorating Contest in Downtown Rehoboth Beach have been announced by Rehoboth Beach Maint Street (RBMS). All 3 businesses received a 1/4 Page Color Cape Gazette Ad
First Place was The Pelican Loft located at 143 Rehoboth Avenue.
Second Place was Mod Cottage located at 246-A Rehoboth Avenue.
And Third Place was Jane & Georgie, located at 419 Rehoboth Avenue.
Walking the Boardwalk is a past time that residents of Rehoboth Beach love to do. The Boardwalk is one mile long. It is relaxing any time during the day, but I do like it towards the end of the day. Meeting Sharon was a surprised so we kept on walking. Felt soooo good. Love to see that owners are enjoying the homes at the beach. This is a great time for Rehoboth Beach and New Year’s will be again crowded.
Have a great week. TTYL

So many visitors come to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, year round. Rehoboth was incorporated in 1873 to create a Christian seaside resort. The railroad was extended in 1878 to Rehoboth Beach, therefore, bringing more visitors and businesses to this seaside town. In 1879 the town was renamed “The Rehoboth Beach Association”. The population has grown over the years. Plenty of summer visitors and part time residents increase the population significantly .
During Christmas I love grabbing something to eat in town with a friend….come to think of it I just did that with my friend, Jody. Stopping at Dogfish Head on Rehoboth Avenue for one of my favorite salads….their pub salad topped with grilled salmon and a delicious dressing is not to be missed. It looks good and it tasted even better.
If you decided to visit Rehoboth Beach during the Holidays you will find the town looking more beautiful than ever. Tiny lights cover the trees in town. The Boardwalk is a mile long. It was quiet when Jody and I were walking, no one around.
The big iconic Dolle’s sign remind visitors that you are at the beach!!

December 21st, 2012
It was around 3:45 p.m. today, Thursday, 12/21….supposedly our last day on this planet. I figured I should go and visit the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, just in case. That salt air does something….it was quiet on the Boardwalk. Where was everyone? It was really the perfect time of the day for R & R.
The wreaths went up today. A memorial for the victims of last week’s tragedy. They are right by Santa’s House. That’s already causing a bit of “chatter”. Some questioned, why there; others think it is the perfect spot. Here is the photo. You decide.
It was just a matter of time; a few others were taking pictures, as well.
Continuing on my walk I decided to stop at Ibach’s, located at 9 Rehoboth Ave. in Downtown Rehoboth Beachy. Tel. 302-227-2870. The story is that “Dolle’s Candyland was established in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, by co-founders Thomas Pachides and Rudolph Dolle. Following the passing of Mr. Pachides at the age of 92, his grandson, Thomas Ibach, took over the family business. In 1991, seeing the need for a quality chocolate, Mr. Ibach opened Ibach’s Candy by the Sea”. The rest is history.
Ibach’s specialy is handmade and handcoated chocolates. They are of excellent quality and so fresh.
Dolle’s Ibach’s fudge does not contain any preservatives. They need to make it every second day. It is considered one of the best in Rehoboth Beach.
Ibach’s is a small store. Today I was looking for some of their chocolates in the shapes of seashells. I did find them. They were individually wrapped. Some of my neighbors will get some.
There is a special going on: Milk, Dark, Peanut Butter and White Nonpariels, along with the Milk and Dark Chocolate Pretzels are $17.95 per pound. Note: No mix and match with regular priced chocolates.
Ibach’s is small and very familiar.
On one side there is every flavor of Jelly Belly jelly beans.
Ibach’s makes all their chocolates, except the truffles. Since they are part of Dolle’s, their Salt Water Taffy and Caramel Corn are the same.
Stop by this week-end because they will be closing for a well deserved rest after Christmas, until February. Have a good one!!
Note: Information on Ibach’s Candy by the Sea was obtained from Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

My Thanksgiving Turducken arrived today. Some years it comes for Christmas…I am glad it came early. I have been getting turduckens for years. I have also tried different companies. My favorite is from a company in Louisiana called Cajun Grocer. They have them available online at http://www.cajungrocer.com.
A turducken is a partially deboned turkey, stuffed with chicken and duck. In between the layers, you will be surprised to find stuffing; different choices for you to pick from. All are on the website. Having someone in my family that needs to eat gluten free, I decided to call them. This year their gluten free turducken is the one with a stuffing of Cajun style veggies; onions, bell peppers and Cajun seasonings.
Turducken, 2011
The idea is that as once you cut the turducken, you will be able to have a taste of the 3 meats, plus the stuffing. The turducken is so good, easy to prepare and, definitely, a conversation piece.
