Happy National Prime Rib Day!! Fager’s Island, Ocean City, Maryland, Best Prime Rib on the Coast!! Fager’s, You Get My Vote!

These National Food Holidays are getting crazy…yesterday was National Pretzel Day.  I hope you took my advice and tasted the Crab Pretzel from Woddy’s in Dewey Beach, Delaware.  Don’t worry…it’s on their menu all the time.  Next time.

Today is another day and another National Holiday Celebration on a gorgeous day in Delmarva.  Happy National Prime Rib Day!!  Just the tought of a juicy prime rib can get my mouth to water.  The marbling on a prime rib gives it the designation…and taste too.

Less than 2% of all beef produced in the U.S. will earn the prime designation.  This is the highest quality; with USDA designation being the most desirable.

Fager’s Island is located at 200 60th St. in Ocean City, Maryland.  Tel. 410-524-5500.  They open all day long.  Brunch, light fare, fine dining…plenty of events all year long.  Website?  http://www.fagers.com

Since 1976 Fager’s has been serving one awesome and delicious Prime Rib.  If you are at the beaches during the fall, winter and spring…check out their prime rib nights.  To me, it is the best prime rib.  Cooked to order, with seasonal side dishes and shaved horseradish…

Had to share it!!  You’ve got to try it!!

Note:  Fager’s has a full menu…please check out the website.  And also please note that Fager’s is one of those restaurants that take care of customers with food allergies….very aware of those with gluten allergies and sensitivities.

Fager’s Island, Restaurant, Review, Ocean City, Maryland

Someone told me that I should think about ordering the rockfish at Fager’s.  Well, 6 of us were getting together for dinner.  1/2 Price Prime Rib on Sundays and Mondays is now going on every week at Fager’s.  It used to be Mondays and Tuesdays but probably this change is for the better.  It did not matter to me because I was meeting very good friends and once this group gets together, we laugh all the way through the meal.

The pictures I took last night almost look like I was arriving at a club.  Fager’s is an institution in Ocean City.

I probably don’t even have to tell you too much about it.  I have written a post about Fager’s in the past.  If you would like to see it just go under Archives, on the left-hand side of this blog and click on the month of April, and scroll down to the 20th.

Fager’s stays open year-round.  It is located at 201 60th Street In the Bay in Ocean City, MD.  Tel. 410-524-5500.  Website is www.fagers.com.

It is a restaurant that can appeal to young and old.  A little bit of entertainment for everyone.

When we arrived the entertainment on Sunday was Sonny.  Sonny Sings Sinatra starts at 5 p.m. every Sunday.  People were dancing to those unforgettable songs and Sonny was pretty good.

I did not think it was too crowded.  We were seated in their Fine Dining section, upstairs.

After my pizza eating binge earlier in the day, I decided to have fish.  I chose rockfish; blackened.  Cindi did too, as well.  The rest ordered the prime rib.

For appetizers one person ordered clams casino.  They were devoured in no time.  I guess they were good, but I really don’t remember him commenting on them.

I wanted the wedge with homemade blue cheese dressing and sweet bacon and caramelized nuts.  I have ordered it before and it was just as good.  It is a refreshing salad and the dressing is light, actually.

Cindi ordered the house salad and that was good too. This salad had field greens with toasted pine nuts and lemon raspberry vinaigrette with crumbled blue cheese on the side.

We were surprised when our waitress came to tell us that they had run out of rockfish.  We were there pretty early.  The restaurant offered to replace the rockfish with the sea bass.

It took a long time for our table to be served; I don’t know why because as I stated before it was not as crowded as other times.

Well, I am glad they ran out of rockfish because the sea bass was out of this world.  Both, Cindi and I agreed.

The Chilean sea bass was broiled with a plum-sesame glaze and it was accompanied by a jumbo prawn and Thai basmati rice and vegetable.

The others that had the prime rib would be able to tell you that it was good but not their best.  We are all fans of the prime rib at Fager’s; we think it is the best in Ocean City, but last night it was just okay.

Nevertheless, the conversation was colorful in many ways and we left the restaurant laughing and with the waitress after us since I had made a mistake on the tip which I promptly rectified.  A true mistake, though.

And when will these friends get together again?  I hope soon…can’t wait….

P.S.  Please note that Fager’s is one of those restaurant that is very aware about food allergies.  A gluten free menu is available for those who need it.

Check the website for all kinds of specials and events coming up!!!

Talk to you later….have a great day!!!

Fager’s Island, Ocean City, Maryland, Restaurant, Review, Prime Rib, Sunsets

What a perfect night to have dinner at Fager’s in Ocean City, Maryland.  This very popular restaurant is located at 201-60th St. in the Bay.  Tel. 410-524-5500, toll free tel. 888-371-5400.  Website www.fagers.com and the e-mail address is island@fagers.com.

If you are visiting Ocean City, Maryland, you are bound to show up at Fager’s during your visit.  How could you not?  If you want to have fun, this is the place to be.  Restaurant, Bar, Entertainment, Perfect Location and the Sunset is amazing, as it was tonight.  Look at that picture.  I could have sat outside but since it was still a little chilly we were all inside.

When sunset approaches, the music starts.  Not just any music, but guests will be listening to a concerto of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.  The music and the view will mesmerize anyone having dinner at that time of the evening.  And, once sunset occurs, the music stops and the clapping begins.

And, that is how our dinner started.  Tonight we saw several familiar faces and met some new ones, as well.  The restaurant was comfortably crowded.

We were all there for their prime rib.  I have to tell you that I last came to Fager’s back in December and at the time I wrote that the prime rib was not that great.  Well, tonight I would have to tell you that they outdid themselves.  The beef was beautiful, cooked to perfection, juices perfectly seasoned, accompanied with colorful veggies and a baked potato.

Some of us had salads as a starter.  I had the wedge with Blue Cheese dressing and bacon and walnuts.  I have had this salad before and it is very refreshing and the dressing is light.

Just for your info. a standing rib roast is a cut of beef from the rib section, which is one of the eight primal cuts of beef.

A slice of standing rib roast will include portions of the so-called “eye” of the rib as well as the outer, fat-marbled muscle known as the “lip” or “cap”.

Always, the best part of having dinner out, is sharing it with good friends.  It is priceless!!

Note:  Fager’s is one of the many restaurants at all of our beaches that have a gluten free menu.

Talk to you later….probably tomorrow….
