Red Truck Bakery, Guinness Stout Irish Chocolate Cake, Marshall, Warrenton, Virginia…Granola, Cranberry Orange Muffins, Cakes, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Whether you are Irish or not, most likely you will be celebrating in some form St. Patrick’s Day.  Here at the Delaware Beaches the Irish Bars are getting ready and last week-end the Annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Milton took place.  Check my little Granddaughter, Sophia, at her first St. Patty’s celebration….the hat stayed put.  In Milton she was.

Surprise, surprise, guess what was delivered to my front door?  It is a Guinness Stout Irish Chocolate Cake!!  Sent to me by my sister in law, Susie.  The cake came from the Red Truck Bakery. The main Bakery is located at 8368 W Main Street in Marshall, Virgina.  The tel. 540-364-BAKE .  There is a Smaller Cafe at 22 Waterloo St. in Warrenton, Virginia.  Website?  http://www.redtruckbakery.com

The question was; should I wait to St. Patty’s Day or just have a little taste right away?  I forgot to tell you that this was my birthday present, as well.  Well I opened it up.

A little piece is all I wanted.  I had to have it. The cake was dense.  Dark as Guinness Stout and not overly sweet which is great because I thought it would go great for breakfast, as well.  It had the perfect consistency.

Almost everyone has a passion…Brian Noyes found it.  I was so surprised when my sister in law told me that it all started in Orlean, Virginia.  I got married in Orlean at my in-law’s house, The Orlean House.  So, needless to say it brought memories.

Red Truck Bakery ships nationwide.  And everyone is talking about them.  I have not tried their granola, but I understand that it is the best.  And, why did President Obama want their pie this week?  And, how did he get it on “Pi Day”?  Please visit the above mentioned website.

Read the article by the Washington Post.  Check the reviews….they are all amazing reviews.

And it is that time of the year where we send our loved ones something to celebrate Spring!!  I am sending the Moonshine Cake….with real “Virginny hooch” to my brother for his birthday!!

I think this is a great find.  Looking forward to another piece of my Guinness Stout Irish Chocolate Cake.

“Easter Saturday”, A Day Early, Barbecuing, Peeps, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches

The sun was setting and the golf course was quiet.  Easter came a day early in my household and with such a beautiful day at the Delaware Beaches…it called for a cook-out.

Charcoal is my favorite; the Weber grill was still standing after all the storms we have had this winter.  The fire was hot; I had to let it calm down a bit.

A simple menu was going to make the day.  Lamb ribs, marinated for an hour or so; then, a dry rub of whatever seasonings I had in the kitchen.

Finally, the ribs were on the grill and they got my full attention.  Hopefully, I was not going to overcook them.

They actually turned out perfect; medium rare.

Side dishes of warm, potato salad made with gourmet mixed potatoes, mayo, tarragon vinegar, and tarragon leaves.  The fresh sauteed spinach and grape tomatoes completed the dinner and added color to the plate.

For dessert, the peeps made an appearance.  They had been getting ready for a couple of weeks; stale and crusty is when they are at their best.  And, Happy 60th Birthday Peeps!…These sugary marshmallow delicacies were born in 1953!!

Hope your Easter was just as nice!!
