“Cotton Ball” Pearls, Vintage Necklace, “Gotta Have it”, Modern Vintage, John Wind, Maximal Art, Affordable, Designer Jewelry, Pennsylvania

Cruising through the t.v. channels I stopped at one that was interviewing a jewelry designer by the name of John Wind.  If I remember correctly, it could have been MPT, but I am not 100% sure.  I was looking at his story and not the channel, really.

The name of his company is Maximal Art.  It is located at 200 Racoosin Drive, Suite 111, Aston, PA 19014.  Tel. 800-573-3308.  There is so much to know about this designer that has been in business for over 25 years.  To know more about him and his designer jewelry pieces, please visit http://www.maximalart.com.  You can also find John Wind-Maximal Art of Facebook.

Meet my “Gotta Have It” “Cotton Ball” Pearl Necklace.

dscn8619

The vintage necklace holding the cotton ball is made from materials that are plated and then antiqued.  I have not worn my enough to enhance its vintage look, but I am getting there. I almost forgot to tell you…very affordable.

dscn0904

The “Cotton Ball” definitely caught my attention.  Made from genuine cotton, lacquered and pearlized.  It is a charm which I attached to my necklace.  The cotton balls can be irregular.  That’s how they are.  They can dent if struck on a hard surface.  And, they will “shrink” if wet.  They also come in different sizes.

dscn0905

As with any jewelry, it is bet to be kept away from water, hairspray, or makeup.

Every time I wear this necklace I get so many compliments.  So much so, that I decided that a post was needed….word of mouth, and I am not the only one doing this.

I am wearing and enjoying it!!   Talk to you later.

Note:  Please visit John Wind Maximal Art’s Facebook page to find out where to find them at the Atlanta Gift Show.

Sugar Blues, Kari Ainsworth, Health Coach, Licensed Massage Therapist, The Birch Tree Cafe, 100% Gluten Free Restaurant, Good Earth Marked & Organic Farm, Clarksville, Delaware

dscn0859

My New Year’s resolution this year was not to make any.  It is easier that way.  You don’t have to feel so guilty a couple of days later when the diet goes out the window.  If I had made a resolution; dieting would have been the one.  I am always on some diet or another.

But no, I think this year I want a little bit more.  I want to imagine myself waking up rested, thinking clearly, full of energy and interest in the day ahead.  So, I was excited to find an invite on Facebook.  It said something like “Are Sugar Blues getting you Down?”  Hmm, sounded interesting.  This time of the year is the quietest at the Delaware Beaches.  I love it because is a time to recharge those batteries; to kick back and relax.  There is still plenty to do.  The beaches are not dead by any means.  Starting the year over with this event, perfect!!

dscn0858

Then, I saw that Kari Ainsworth, LMT, IC, CHHC, was going to be giving the talk.  I met Kari this year and she is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Cosmetologist, Intrinsic Coach, Yoga Instructor and Holistic Health Coach.  Her company is Kia Massage, LLC.  Her Tel. is 302-362-2033. Website?  http://www.kiamassagellc.com.

This event was going to be taking place at The Birch Tree Cafe, located inside Good Earth Market at 31826 Good Earth Lane, Clarksville, DE 19970.  This is 4.8 miles west of Bethany Beach, on Rt. 26.

dscn0878

The Birch Tree Cafe is a 100% Gluten Free restaurant.  Chef and Owner is Cathy Berzins. They carry soups, coffees, lattes, salads, quiches, sandwiches, muffins and gluten free baked goods.

dscn0876dscn0865

From January 7th until the 18th, there will be a limited menu due to vacation time.  It will be closed on Saturday, 1/12.  Regular times and menu will resume on the 19th.  Tel. 302-539-2468.  Website?  http://www.thebirchtreecafe.com.

dscn0861

I was not sure how many people were going to be attending.  Afterall, the holidays were just a thing of the past.  But, guess what?  It was crowded.  Saw a few familiar faces, as well.

dscn0866

In this photo, please meet Cathy on the left and Kari on the right.

dscn0868

Kari introduced herself and talked a little about her professional journey.  I think, everyone that was present sort of knew what they needed to do.  But, just like me, we also needed to learn more and have someone give us that extra push.

dscn0871

When Kari asked what were our favorite “sugar treats” when growing up, I did not speak up.  I did not want to date myself.  I did love Mary Janes, pix at stix (don’t even know how to spell it) and a few others that I want to forget now.

Nicotine is to cigarettes as sugar is to food.  An addiction.  The more you have, the more you want.  I could not believe that there are 15 teaspoons in a 20 ounce bottle of Coke.  Yikes!

The ups and crashes of sugar.  Feeling great and then crashing…start over.

Sugar is an inflammatory food.  They are even relating it to high cholesterol.

Someone said ” I feel like I want a cookie or something at 7 p.m.”  Kari gave ideas on how to prevent those cravings.  A lot has to do with television commercials and other shows.  But, also a lot of times we eat because we are thirsty.  So please drink up your water.

dscn0872

Food changes everything.  The way you feel, your attitude, your skin, and how well you sleep.

If you would like to meet with Kari, please give her a call.  She can help you to improve your eating habits, understand your body better, make your self-care a priority, feel confident in choosing and preparing better food for you and your family and experience an increase in overall happiness in your life.

We all had a great time….I even won a prize.  Almond Butter and Coconut Sugar!!  Will tell you about it on another post since I have not tried them yet.

Thanks for such a nice time to Kari, The Birch Tree Cafe, and Good Earth Market (http://www.goodearthmarket.com).

dscn0877

Talk to you later.

Nature’s Gift Candleworks, Pillar Candles, Hand Poured, Golden, Colorado, Botanical Garden Candles, Made in Colorado, Golden’s First Fridays Coming Up on 1/4/13

This post is for all of you that might be heading out west for a little skiing.  It is that time of the year!!

dscn6546

I have finally started to enjoy my Botanical Pillar Candle.  I chose the French Pine.  The other day when it was cold and rainy, here at the Delaware Beaches….a little bit of Golden, Colorado, was very well received.

dscn0787

I bought this candle a few months ago when visiting my friend who lives on Lookout Mountain, outside of Denver.  Marisa took Cindi and I to all of her favorite stomping grounds.  Nature’s Gift was one of them.

dscn6527

I have gotten into candles this past year.  I love the ones with true scents. This company delivers just that.

Nature’s Gift is located at 1208 Washington Avenue, Golden, CO 80401.  Tel. 303-278-1690.  Website?  http://www.naturesgiftcandles.com.

dscn6541

The store was full of candles.  All through the store, you will be viewing beautiful botanical garden candles which have been inspired by the Rockies.

dscn6537

They are hand poured, then the real fruit is added, along with flowers and other botanicals to the outermost layer of wax.

dscn6536

Each is an original and I can attest that the scent is distinct, yet subtle, permeating through your home.

dscn6538dscn6539

The candles can be purchased through the website.

dscn6528

But, if you happen to be going out west, the Historic Town of Golden is not far away from Denver.  It is located in Jefferson County.

dscn6519

The town is small with gorgeous landscapes.

dscn6515

The Colorado School of Mines is located in Golden.

dscn6547

And, also Coors makes Golden its home.

dscn6563

Walking through Golden reminded me of our own towns in Southern Delaware.  The town is being preserved, the river is enjoyed by so many.  It is worth stopping by.

If you are arriving this week-end, then, check out Golden’s First Fridays where you will find specials, entertainment, free horse-drawn carriage rides, and artists’ signings. Check the new shops or enjoy your favorites.

Have a good one!!
