Destination? Historic Lewes Farmers Market, Saturdays, 8 a.m. to Noon, Good Morning Delaware! Buying Fresh, Eating Local, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware
Every Saturday morning the gathering of a community and visitors is at the Lewes Historical Society Complex located at 110 Shipcarpenter Street in Historic Lewes, Delaware. This is where buying local goes to a different level. The Historic Lewes Farmers Market takes place early, barely after the sun has risen.
It is a must for many waiting for the market to open anxiously. They want to make sure they have choice pickings. But not to worry because the farmers come in prepared and they are more than happy to also answer your questions.
The Tomato Festival happened a few weeks ago. If you visit http://www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org, you will find the winners of the recipes submitted to the festival. They are some really good ones. All recipes can be downloaded, plus the website has great info. on events, etc. etc.
The market opens 8 a.m. until Noon at the Lewes Historical Society Complex. In the fall, from 10/4 through 11/22 the market moves to Shields Elementary School parking lot from 9 a.m. until Noon. All that info. is also on the website.
Farmers markets affords the opportunity to buy fresh. The produce comes from the farm to the market. Forget all those miles produce have to endure when you buy at the grocery stores. If you have the opportunity to visit a farmers market you will see what I mean. In the meantime take a look through photos at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market in the First Town of the First State.
Have a wonderful day!! Tic Toc, Tic Toc…summer 2014 is flying by.
