Destination? Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market, Tuesdays, Noon – 4:00 p.m. Fresh, Local, Produce, Baked Goods, Meet the Farmers & Vendors! Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware
Spending time in Rehoboth Beach gets even better if you happen to be visiting on Tuesdays. Just like this past Tuesday it was a sunny and hot day in the Nation’s Summer Capital. And, right behind the Visitors Center the white tents were already up….the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market begins at Noon and ends at 4 p.m.
The increasing demand for healthier food are making these farmers’ markets a gathering place….it so much more personal than being in a traditional grocery store. You can interact with the growers and vendors. Plus, I think they also have become social events. If you are a local meet the visitors. Farmers markets offer fresh and local produce and baked goods.
The Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market website is very informative. You can read about the vendors, what will be happening at the market, entertainment, and recipes. Please visit http://www.rbfarmersmarket.com.
Flowes, breads, vegetables…..look how beautiful they looked.
Some of the residents show up very early, so as not to miss anything. Even though baked goods were plentiful on Tuesday, they do go quickly….our local bakeries are excellent.
Fresh Harvest Hydroponics got my attention. They were from Millsboro, Delaware. Tel. 301-643-2487. Lettuces and basil….hydroponics; growing plants in water without soil.
Jams and jellies always found at the market.
Fifer’s raspberries looked gorgeous!!
Then, I came to the end of the line……Bennett Orchards had a truck full of peaches….the first of the season, making their appearance at the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market. Offering fresh cut peaches to customers….when peaches are just picked, it becomes a complete different fruit….
So, I am watching the unloading of the peaches….and I do want to take some pictures. They looked beautiful.
The line of customers was pretty long. It was, definitely, the tent to hit on Tuesday.
I decided to stand behind the guy with the stripe t-shirt…..He was buying peaches, berries, you name it. So, all of a sudden I was tapped on my shoulder. The lady said…..”The line is back there.” Some were rolling their eyes, I just told her I wanted to take some pictures….not buying anything. Not to worry, please…not cutting in line.
Then, the guy with the stripe t-shirt turned and said “Go right ahead, I am on vacation”. That was priceless!! And I was grateful. These are my photos.
You know what’sgood about the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market? That even on a hot day, it is great to visit. Lots of trees and the Tot Lot adjacent to it make it a place for the whole family. You sit and enjoy your goodies or just take in the scene.
Oh, wow….there is my friend with the stripe t-shirt. He was really shopping the market.
Have a great day!! Remember Tuesdays, rain or shine!!
