Every time I have written about The Wooden Indian I have to mention that when my kids were very young I would bring them into the store. The first time they looked at me probably thinking “if you break it, you buy it”. What they did not know then was that I would have told them that they could only touch with their eyes. Amazingly so I never had a problem.
The Wooden Indian has an extensive bridal registry department. China, crystal, silverware and other gifts appropriate for weddings and parties in a wide variety of prices.
Exquisite brands…the store is beautifully appointed. Upon entering you feel right at home. Not only a friendly staff, but the building itself is cozy.
Great pillows to refresh those sofas at home.
We, here in Delaware, have tax free shopping. It really is a big savings, so take the opportunity to shop in our beach towns. At The Wooden Indian, they can fix party baskets for all seasons. They will wrap your gifts beautifully. They also can ship.
I don’t know about you but my friends are grandparents now many times over. Baby gifts that are unique can be found at The Wooden Indian. Look how cute they are.
You have to agree that they are very different from what you get in other stores.
I can guarantee you that you will find that perfect gift you are looking for.
Summer 2019 is here….and so is June. We have many coastal weddings, taking advantage of our beautiful resort towns.
Until next time…..Relax, You are At The Beach!!

An iconic shop; that’s what I call The Wooden Indian. Since 1977 in our community, this shop is a representation of what shopping in Downtown Rehoboth Beach has become. First class, sophisticated, charming, exquisitively appointed, accessible to all.
I remember when my children were young, they would look at me like I was from another world, as I would come into The Wooden Indian and the first thing I would say was: Touch only with your eyes. You know that look, don’t you? It worked because they never broke anything, thank God.
The Wooden Indian is located at 25 Baltimore Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. Tels. 302-227-8331, 800-225-8331. The website is www.woodenindianltd.com. On Facebook, it can be found as Woodenindian Rehoboth. That might be your best best as you will be able to follow updates and what’s coming new into the store.
This is the second season for Paul and Joseph, the proprietors. Under their creative strengths, The Wooden Indian has acquired a modern simplicity that I noticed as I came in. You can move through the store with ease; every item is beautifully displayed.
One person that is key in this shop is Frances. I think she has seen the beginnings, the ups and downs of the store and the resurgence of what The Wooden Indian represents at the Delaware Beaches.
Rehoboth Beach is a very walkable town and The Wooden Indian is one street north of Rehoboth Avenue.
The Wooden Indian is still there as you come into the store; to the left.
Well known brands are Lynn Chase, Waterford, Herend, Godiva, Royal Copenhagen, Beatriz Ball, Vietri, Nambe, and Vera Wang, among others.
The shop will wrap and ship. Baskets can be made for presents. A variety of preserves, peanuts, sauces, and dressings.
A new line of jewelry by designer Esther-Ann Ingram, an independent shell artist arranging shells into beautiful works of art. One of a kind pieces; the shells come from all over the world.
The Bridal Registry is an integral part of the traditional wedding preparation. The Wooden Indian has china, crystal, silverware, and plenty of gifts in a wide variety of prices.
It is a special time of the year. Plenty of weddings during the summer months. The beaches are an attraction for that special day.
And, for the new addition to the family, they also have presents, as well.
The Wooden Indian is part of Rehoboth Beach….talk to you later.

The Wooden Indian is an iconic store in Rehoboth Beach. This store has been opened for 33 years and has seen many changes. It was always the place to go to get that special gift.
I have seen a lot of those changes since I have been a customer for many years. This past winter I decided to stop by and I saw a sign welcoming everyone to the reopening of The Wooden Indian. I never knew it had closed.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the store had new proprietors; Paul J. Roscosky and Joseph S. Yasik. The Wooden Indian is located at 25 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth. Tels. are 302-227-8331, 800-225-8331. The website is www.woodenindianltd.com. At the time of my writing this post the website was being updated.
One of the most important persons in this store is Frances Cowgill. She is the General Manager. She has been with The Wooden Indian for 32 of the 33 years. She is one of those people that have such a friendly personality, key to making customers feel at ease.
I met the new proprietors and they wanted to find out how I liked the store. I think they wanted feedback from the customers. I told them that I thought the store looks like what it should look like; an elegant shop with fine accessories like Lynn Chase, Waterford, Herend and Godiva, but also carrying items affordable to all.
The interior of the store looks amazing, you can move through it with ease and at the same time enjoy all the wonderful items available for purchase.
Some palettes have vivid oranges, while others have blues and browns.
Edibles like Godiva Chocolates and all the wonderful conserves, make this store a must stop shop. Paul, Joseph and Frances really have done everything to make The Wooden Indian look larger and fabulous.
The photos say a thousand words, so I hope you enjoy a tour of this magnificent store at the Delaware Beaches.
Once again, I have to mention that one of the best things about living in a small coastal town is the interaction with all the merchants in town. It really is priceless…I guess I will be talking to you soon….
Note: The Wooden Indian, Ltd. has the availability to giftwrap and ship.
