Ocean City Eats! Liquid Assets, Bistro, Bar, Ocean City, Maryland, L.A. On Location, Catering, Best Pan Roasted Mussels Ever!!

DSCN2022

Opening 2016 with a visit to Liquid Assets in Ocean City, Maryland with my friend, Shelley.  Crowded?  You bet! It was a beautiful week-end at the Maryland and Delaware Beaches.  Liquid Assets is located at 9301 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland.  Tel. 410-524-7037.  Website?  www.ocliquidassets.com.

DSCN2018

Liquid Assets is a Bar, a Bistro, and a Package Goods Store.  They are open every day of the week…Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to Midnight.  Plenty of parking available.

The only seats available were at the Kitchen Bar in the second dining room.  This was new for us.  We could see some of the preparations going on.  I have never sat in this room and to tell you the truth the idea of a kitchen bar is pretty unique just like everything they do.

DSCN2016

Coming out of this Kitchen Bar were delicious looking Tuna Crisps…rare ahi, crispy wontons, Kimchee, seaweed salad and wasabi cream.

FullSizeRender (135)

We ordered the Salted Roasted Beets and Caramelized Pear Salad with Point Reyes blue cheese and coriander dusted pepitas.  The cheese melted in your mouth and I always order beets when found on the menu.

DSCN2006

My friend, Shelley, loves their Caesar Salad…but she will deconstruct the salad….Topped with grilled chicken.  Knew she was going to have it.  Did not even have to look at the menu.

DSCN2013

From the first time I tasted Liquid Assets’ Pan Roasted Mussels, I have tried them in other restaurants, others states; everywhere.  The best EVER are here at Liquid Assets.  Plenty of mussels with chorizo, shallots, garlic and grilled bread.  A spoon will be also given to you because you will not resist the broth.  They are truly awesome!!  I have them every time.

DSCN2008

Then an order of their Massaged Kale Salad with Burgarian feta, roasted cauliflower, pickled shallots, Serrano ham crisps, crispy leeks, roasted garlic and lemon vin.  Topped with a Bristro Steak cooked and seasoned to perfection.

DSCN2014

I will have this Sweet Ending one of these days….we looked at it coming out of the Kitchen Bar and it looked soooo good!  It is their unique Ice Cream Sandwich…House Made Doughnut with God Bless The Queen Chesapeake Bay Farms ice cream, and a bourbon caramel sea salt sauce.  Please note that the doughnuts will be warm!!  Seriously decadent.

DSCN2011

Liquid Assets can custom build menus for your affair, no matter what size.  They bring it to your location.  And it is not just food.  They have professional servers, bartenders, china, silver, linens, tables and chairs.  You may call 410-524-7037. Fax number is 410-524-3308.  Email contact@ocliquidassets.com.

DSCN2020

The ride is manageable from the Delaware Beaches so get out and enjoy Liquid Assets for lunch or dinner.  Check out the above mentioned website because throughout the year they have plenty of events.

Have a good One!!

Walking on the award-winning boardwalk the visitors were enjoying a beautiful day at the beach.

DSCN0410

Passing the ever popular Thrasher’s French Fries, already the line was so long.  To tell you the truth I am not such a big fan of them because I like my fries crispy.

DSCN0411

DSCN0412

Hundreds and hundreds of people were checking out this first day of Sunfest.  Apparently, the weather might be a little crazy on Saturday evening, so if you get a change today and tomorrow, please stop by.

DSCN0416

The tent we were looking for was the Food Tent and we immediately found it.

DSCN0417

One food vendor after another.  If you have been at Sunfest before you probably have your favorites.

DSCN0429

DSCN0427

You can sit down in the many tables available or just stand and use the tall tables as well.

DSCN0422

Funnel Cakes anyone?

DSCN0426

We decided on some Seafood Bisque with Lace chips!! Perfect combination.  They were so light.

Stop Mr. Elvis himself, local color in Ocean City for many years.  Known to all the residents.  Take a photo.  He loves it!!

Some of the crafts that caught our attention:

Wire Sculpture by Devin Mack of Drawn Metal Studios.

DSCN0469DSCN0470

The lady that works with clay.  She has been at the festival for years.  You can see her working the clay with such minute detail.

DSCN0445

DSCN0450

The driftwood sailboats and ships were really cute.  The company is Art Sea., from Pasadena, Maryland.

DSCN0454

The painted ostrich eggs were very detailed.  Loved Starry Nights.

DSCN0473

This next company’s baking is not your usual.  It looked so real, you could taste it…The Fake Baker.

DSCN0462

DSCN0459

DSCN0460

The beautiful Adirondack Chairs, Hinkleys Chair Art….whatever you want, they will paint it.

DSCN0476

DSCN0478

Grabbing beers and on our way to listen to Skinny Leg Pete.  Definitely a party band.  Their genre?  soul, funk, blues and rock.  And, yes, people were dancing.

Destination? A Taste of Finer Things, Fundraising Event, Live Entertainment, Coastal Hospice at the Ocean, Harrison’s Harbor Watch, Ocean City, Maryland, The Paring of Fine Foods & Fine Wine for a Cause!!

dscn4637

“Fundraising is the gentle art of teaching the joy of giving.”  hank rosso

With that in mind I headed south from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to meet my friends, Cindi and Ross, for a night of fundraising in Ocean City, Maryland.

dscn4564

It is so interesting to see this town at this time of the year.  It is so quiet, but not for long.  Beachgoers will be here soon enough and they will be creating their memories at the beach.  This most southern part of Downtown Ocean City is where Trimper Rides is located.  It was just featured in Strange Inheritances.  Trimper Rides is a family owned and operated business located in prime real estate in O.C.  Not to see the lights and the laughing and screaming visitors is a sight to be seen.

dscn4563

For a few years…I will call them, the movers and shakers in Ocean City, Maryland, have been diligently fundraising for a much needed hospice facility in the area.  Together they are building the funds in order for construction to begin.  They need $5,000,000.  Already they have $3,000,000 thanks to the generosity of all in the communities.

dscn4613

“Hospice patients most often choose to remain at home.  However, a growing number find that at the end of life they are unable to manage alone or need more than a frail spouse can provide.  Suddenly, home is no longer the safest place to receive hospice care.”  Coastal Hospice at the Ocean will serve the Lower Shore region.  For more information, please visit http://www.coastalhospice.org.  Or, please call Maureen McNeill, the Director of Development at 410-641-5481.

dscn4565

dscn4566

Unreal to see the award winning Boardwalk this quiet!!  Inside Harrison’s Harbor Watch the mood was anything but quiet.  It was a festive event with about 225 in attendance.

dscn4607

Harrison’s Habor Watch is located at 806 S. Atlantic Ave., overlooking the Inlet and Assateague Island.  This is the southern end of the Boardwalk.

dscn4590

Having fun while raising funds…the main focus of the evening.  Blindly choosing a bottle of wine…$20.  Raffles!

dscn4588

The live entertainment was by Lauren Glick and Mike Armstrong.

dscn4610

Seventeen of Ocean City’s restaurants brought their “A” dishes to this event.  Each station was paired with a unique wine complementing the food.

dscn4616

Oysters to start with were from Harrison’s Harbor Watch.  Plump, salty and cold!! We are by the water so having them to start our evening was a no brainer.

dscn4571

Sushi from OC Wasabi.  This was a popular station, to say the least.

dscn4573

My love affair with Fried Green Tomatoes continues.  Having these ones from Sunset Grille, topped with Crab Remoulade, well, what can I say….awesome!!

dscn4576

They had just brought out the warm crab dip from Crabs to Go…paired with a light Prosecco.

dscn4580

dscn4581

One of my favorite tapas of the evening….Embers/Blu Tuna Tartare Tacos, and, Smoked Salmon Napoleon.  The tuna, the lime, the cilantro and the presentation…great.

dscn4586

dscn4585

Touch of Italy has been in Ocean City for the past year.  Love that they always take their time to teach their customers about what they offer.

dscn4592

Hooked offered a terrific combination of Basil Scented Tuna.

dscn4595

dscn4594

Barn 34…what a great job!!  Two complete different offerings.  The stuffed dates…the combination of salt and sweetness.  Never fails.  Can’t wait to have them again.  The shrimp stuffed with cheese were also awesome!!

dscn4598

dscn4600

dscn4599

Spring Lamb from the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin.  I like mint sauce vs. mint jelly, though.  Very good indeed.

dscn4604

dscn4603

I usually do not eat eggs for breakfast, but deviled eggs are a different thing altogether.  These were Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs!!  The Cucumber Cups with Spicy Crab Dip….can’t wait for summer.  This was presented by Seacrets!

dscn4605

dscn4606

My last tasting was of Crab Guacamole served with Fresh Tortilla Chips from the Captain’s Table.

dscn4608

dscn4609

Sweet Ending Desserts!!

Sweet Dispositions offered:  Pecan Diamonds, Key Lime Tartlettes, and White Chocolate, Macademia Nut Cookies!!

dscn4617

dscn4619

dscn4618

dscn4620

Desserts by Rita had assorted Cupcakes!!

dscn4622

Wockenfuss Candies….Now, take a look at the elegant Chocolate Covered Strawberries!!

dscn4624

Tasting, sipping continued for a few hours.  It was a total success!!

dscn4625

Cindi, Ross, and I decided that it was time to hit the road…..but not before Cindi showed us that Wine is a Girl’s best friend!!

dscn4627

Note:  It was about 9:30 p.m….look at the Boardwalk!!  Not one person.

dscn4634

Waiting for Summer 2015!!

Breakfast? Sahara Cafe, Ocean City, Maryland, Breakfast, Lunch, Maryland Beaches

dscn0206dscn0208

I am so glad Cindi and I walked the 2-1/4 mile Ocean City Boardwalk.  I kid you not, because….well, let me show you in case you are hungry for breakfast.

dscn0211

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  So my most important meal was made of homemade chipped beef, hash browns, and scrapple.  By no means a small portion.  Huge….I almost ate it all.

dscn0216

The Sahara Cafe is located at 19th and Baltimore in Ocean City, Maryland.  In 2013 it was Voted Best Breakfast in Ocean City.  Tel. 410-289-5080.  Website?  http://www.saharacafeocmd.com.  We arrived to grab the last table.  After us, the line started forming outside.  You should go early or late.  They also serve lunch.

dscn0217

The Cafe serves very good coffee.  The staff is so friendly and they did tell me that the chipped beef was the best.  Homemade, the salt of the chipped beef is just enough.  You can get it on toast or biscuit.  They recommended the toast.  So, I did.  Loved it and ate it honoring my husband, because it is what he would have had.  Good excuse!!

The rest of my breakfast party had traditional breakfasts of eggs, and omelets.

dscn0212

dscn0215

dscn0214

My party liked scrapple and it was served well done…just perfect.

And if you become a regular, those familiar faces will be there early on Sunday mornings!!

Have a beautiful day…it has been, hasn’t it?

Update:  The Sahara Cafe served Saturday and Sunday over 1,100 customers!!!

Destination? Sahara Motel, Ocean City, Maryland, Oceanfront, Ocean City Lodging, OC Air Show, Event, The Skies Were Blue & Roaring in Ocean City, Oceanfront & A Bird’s Eye View

dscn0204dscn0197

When visitors come to Ocean City, Maryland, they have pretty much one thing in mind…..the beautiful wide beaches that it is known for and the award winning Boardwalk.  A much needed vacation for those that want to leave the city for just a few days or more.  You might want to stay awhile, though.

dscn0205

dscn0203

Word of mouth is a great advertising tool.  When you have had the experience, then, you can talk about it.  Well, let me tell you about the Sahara Motel.  It is located at 19th Street & Boardwalk, Ocean City, MD 21843-0540.  Tel. 1-800-638-1600, or, 410-289-8101.  Website?  http://www.saharamotel.com.   Get close….look at the view.  It was my view!!  This is why you come to Ocean City.

dscn0227

Early in the a.m. step into the balcony to see if you want to walk the two and a quarter mile of Boardwalk…

dscn0182

The Sahara Motel is a family owned business.  It has other sister motels in Ocean City.  You may find more info. on the above mentioned website.  All properties have been given tender and personal loving care.  They are immaculate properties.  Very well taken care of.

My room was spacious, comfortable and sooooo clean.  It had a small refrigerator and a microwave.  Open those curtains, step out into the balcony and take it all in.

dscn0180

The Sahara Motel is reasonably priced with plenty of room choices:  Oceanfront, Oceanview, Poolside, West or Tower Buildings.

My oceanfront room had a front seat to the OC Air Show, which took place Saturday, 6/14, and Sunday, 6/15.  Beachgoers arrived early to take the best seats.  In a matter of an hour or so, the before and after photos show how quickly the beachgoers settled.

dscn0184

dscn0235

dscn0224

And then the skies roared…This is a unique year for the show, since it is the only show on the docket for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in the Mid-Atlantic.

dscn0240

dscn0246

The U.S. Navy Seals Leap Frogs parachute team and several civilian acts for the show participated.

dscn0228

dscn0242

You have plenty of hotels/motels choices when staying in Ocean City….check http://www.saharamotel.com.

dscn0260

Have a good one!!  Breakfast at the Sahara Cafe….post in the a.m., of course.

The Big Owl Tiki Bar, Kent Narrows, Maryland, Lunch, Dinner, Coffee, Drinks, Live Entertainment..En Route to the Delaware & Maryland Beaches!!

dscn7815dscn4771

Lucky if you are visiting the Delaware and Maryland beaches on this gorgeous week-end!!  No humidity, bright blue skies and perfect temperatures.  If you are driving from Virginia, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Maryland and surrounding areas, you are probably going to take Rt. 50 East.  And, you will probably be stuck in traffic.  The  beaches are at their height of the season and that’s what happens.

dscn4782

A tip!!  Stop at The Big Owl Tiki Bar in Kent Narrows.  Take Exit 42, no matter which way you are going.  The actual address is 3015 Kent Narrows S., Grasonville, MD 21638.  Tel. 443-827-6523.  Website?  http://www.thebigowl.com.  It opens every day of the week for lunch, dinner, coffee, and drinks.  They do have live entertainment.  For example, tonight, Saturday, 7/27, Levi Stevens Duo will be playing at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and The Big Money Band will be playing on Sunday, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.  You can check the schedule on the website above mentioned.

dscn4772

The Big Owl Tiki Bar literally sits on the water.  Gentle breezes, and an awesome scenery as you watch the fishing boats go by.

dscn7834

dscn4770

Michael and I stopped for a bite to eat on the 4th of July week-end.  Yes, we were crazy enough to be on the road and to also be stuck just like I told you.  But a little detour made our trip certainly more enjoyable.

dscn4776

dscn7825

We both had the fish tacos.  They were grilled, moist, and totally delicious.

dscn4777

The Big Owl has a following and it gets crowded, but that is part of the fun.

They have Happy Hour all day on Monday.  Then, Tuesdays through Thursday, the Happy Hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

dscn4779

I think you will certainly like it!!  So, have a great week-end!
