Delaware Coast Aid…a Coastal Community Partner.  Delaware, spared by the brunt of the impact that has resonated, will come together, once again, to support a relief, clean-up, and rebuilding effort that will have a direct impact on the lives of many people and places affected by Hurricane Sandy.

A tragedy has occurred just north of our home in Delaware.  Hurricane Sandy has left her damaging mark on the lives of millions of friends and family.  As part of a much larger network of coastal residents, similar to our own, a group of people have come together to allow those who experienced less storm damage to join together and raise money for the relief and rebuilding effort of beaches along the Delaware coast and to communities in New Jersey and New York.

Partnering with the Center for the Inland Bays, Delaware Coast Aid will be hosting the 1st fundraising event on Thursday, 11/15 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Rusty Rudder, located on Dickinson St., in Dewey Beach, Delaware.  Tickets will be sold only at the door; $25 for 21 years and older, $10 for under 21, free for children under 12 years of age.

Additionally, donations will be accepted at the event and/or by sending a contribution to the Center for the Inland Bays-Delaware Coast Aid, 39375 Inlet Place, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

The Center for the Inland Bays will manage all donations which will directly benefit Delaware and surrounding states.

To kick off the family friendly evening, the Schell brothers have pledged $10,000 to jump start the effort and to demonstrate a strong endorsement of the meaning of Community.

Coordinators, Kevin Roberts (Bethany Blues), and Chip Thompson (Atlantic Horizons), who created the Gulf Coast Aid event in 2010 that raised $70,000 in under 3 weeks, are once again steering this project.

Along with other community leaders and volunteers, they have promised an evening that includes entertainment by 4 local and regional bands, including Love Seed Mama Jump, and Big Hat No Cattle.

There will be a free food buffet, kids activities, beer and wine for those over 21 years of age.  Free parking throughout Dewey Beach!!
