White Orchid Interiors, Showroom, Ocean View, Delaware, Residential Space Planning, Custom Window Treatments, Paint Consultations, Wallcoverings, In Home Design Services, Delaware Beaches

Back on October 26, I wrote a post on a furniture consignment shop called Seaquels in Ocean View, Delaware.  The store is owned by Cindy and Kathy.  By the way, if you want to see that post just click on the month of October, 2010 and scroll down to the 26th.

These two ladies sent me an e-mail.  They thought I should go and visit White Orchid Interiors as possible material for my blog.  They thought the store looked beautiful and readers might like to find out that there is another choice for their decorating needs, among the ones that already exist in our Delaware beaches.  Word of mouth; again, is the best advertisement.

Well let me tell you more about White Orchid.  First of all, it is located at 83 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970.  Tel. is 302-541-4044.  Website?  www.whiteorchidde.com.  It is so easy to get to because all you have to do if you are driving on Rt. 1 is get to Bethany Beach and right there at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 26 just go west for about 2 miles and you will see it on the right hand side of the road.

It is a house and at the beginning I did not know where it was but once I saw it I, definitely, knew where I was.

Because this showroom was a home, it has that look and ambiance; you move through the different rooms of a house. Even though it is an interior design shop, furniture, home accents, and art are available for purchase on the spot.

Nothing makes a store shine more than the people that work in it.  In this case the owner, Leslie Bixler. It was the first time I had met her and immediately I felt at ease with her.  She is friendly and exudes confidence.  You can tell she loves what she does.  She is not new at this type of business.  Leslie ‘s background is in retailing, marketing and advertising.  And she is a very busy lady.

The store features metals, natural seagrass, lamps, luxury bedding, designer pillows, and mirrors, among many other accessories.

White Orchid Interiors is eclectic and stylish; the way the store is decorated radiates proportion and symmetry.

Most important is that her designs skills cater to a variety of interior styles while working within your budget.  I remember one time a friend of mine who is a decorator told me that if your budget has no limits then for a designer it becomes a very easy job.  It is when a limited budget is in place that a designer really becomes a creator of sorts; innovative, showing taste, style and class.

Her local art is original; one being the watercolors on her wall.  They are by Dorothy Harrison Braun, who is her mother.  Mrs. Harrison offers private and group instruction and you can call her at 302-539-2045.

I took so many pictures thinking I would only put a few on my post.  But, I really liked them all and what better way to show White Orchid than by showing some of the pictures of this very unique interior design shop.

As I was leaving I kept thinking about my own style.  It is a mix of several styles which make my own look, I guess.  Casual and easy; that’s it.

I also remember reading a quote “Style comes from within and is a reflection of your character and preference”.  Could not have said it better myself.

Services You Cannot Live Without….At the Delaware Beaches….In the Towns of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island….

You might be at my beaches just for the week-end or maybe here for the summer.  Own a house?  New in the area and don’t know where to go for every day services?  I am recommending the following businesses because I have used them myself.

One of the things that has driven me crazy in the past is making an appointment for auto service or repair.  I would make the call to the dealership or other auto repair service and the answer would always be: “Well we can give you an appt. in  2 weeks.”  This will not happen at Rehoboth Auto Repair.  Their usual answer is: “Well, when would you like to come in?”  That’s more like it!!  Not too long ago, they got me tires in no time, when nobody else could get them. Reasonable too and friendly, as well.

Rehoboth Auto Repair can handle foreign and domestic repairs.  They are located on 20669 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach,  (in the forgotten mile), between Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.  Tel. 302-227-0633. They will do tires, brakes, road service, tune ups, electrical, computer engine analysis, air condition, oil changes, exhausts, emission work, total wheel alignments.

Lewes Body Works, Automotive Collision Repair is another of the services that you hope you won’t need but I am giving you the information because Richard Perez, the owner, is great.  Even if it is just a small job, he is ready to help you in no time.  He is located on 16205 New Road, Lewes.  Tel. is 302-645-5595.  His fax number is 302-645-6939.

Shore Tint – Professional Window Tinting is Eco Friendly and is owned by Jared Becker.  His tel. is 302-947-4624.  He offers free estimates.  He does homes, autos, boats and businesses.   He did the windows in my house and the tint has prevented the fabric on my furniture from discoloring.  In the past he has done some of my family’s cars, as well.

SuperClean Power Washing – Hot Water Power Washing is located in Lewes.  The owner is Sam Connors and the manager is John Connors.  The tel. is 302-645-4680.  I usually use this company in the spring, after the pollen is over.  They have done my house, gutters, and outdoor furniture.

Alterations by Soula.  The location of this seamstress is on 18908 Rehoboth Mall, Blvd., Unit #12, right inside the Rehoboth Mall in Rehoboth.  Tel. is 302-645-5266.  Mrs. Soula Vrentzos can tackle any job. Very professional.

Instant Shoe Repair.  I first met Santiago Fidel, the owner, years ago at the Centre at Salisbury, in the Salisbury Mall (he still has a shop there). Then he opened a shop here in Rehoboth Beach at the Rehoboth Mall.  His tel. is 302-644-4080. He is open every day except Sundays.  He is a member of the Pedorthic Footwear Association.  He can handle shoe and luggage repairs, leather belts, handbags, suitcases, leather cases and has a line of shoe care products. He also does key cutting.  His work is excellent.

Teri’s Slips – Besides slipcovers, Teri does window treatments, pillows, comforters, etc., so have in mind that it is not just slipcovers.  Her telephone number is 302-245-0556.  Her fax is 302-945-2572 and her e-mail address is sewteri@verizon.net.  Teri did my slipcovers last year and I really love them.  Just what I wanted.  She is very easy to work with and prompt.

I hope the above information can help you.  As I gather more tips on other services, and after I have tried them myself, I will pass them on to you.

Soooo…..keep reading my blog  and until next time……
