Coffee House, Bake Shoppe, Fresh Baked Breads and Sweets, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Quiches, The Point Coffee House & Bake Shoppe, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches

Coffee; that’s all Susan and I were meeting for.  Well, fat chance.  No way, if you are visiting The Point in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Location 722 Rehoboth Avenue Extended.  It is, really where Rt. 1 meets 1A.  Tel. 302-260-9734.

Just checking the board to see what could I eat that would be less caloric, shall we say.  At first I thought the quiche would be good.  They usually offer two quiches.

dscn0963

Tom, the Manager, suggested the yogurt with granola and fruit.  I had it before and it was the perfect size.

Susan already had in mind what they call the “puffin”.

We put our orders, got some coffee and I continued to check some of their homemade breads. The spinach pesto pinenut loaf looked so good.

dscn0965

The roasted pepper and tomato focaccia looked amazing.

dscn0964

I noticed that now you can have a sample of their breads and vinegars; oils and peppers are also offered.

dscn0970

dscn0972

Oh, my Lord, my yogurt bowl was pretty big.  Full of healthy fruits, yogurt and granola.

dscn0969

Susan’s puffin arrived.

dscn0966

We just started laughing.  The whole time we were sharing our coffee and breakfast, we were talking about who lost what weight and “we really know what we should eat”, we need to get on the ball……

Oh wait a minute….I forgot the pies!  They have delicious pies.  You can take them home or place an order for another time.

dscn0973

Sun’s out…that’s even better!!

The Point, Coffee House, Bake Shoppe, Free Wi-Fi, Parking, Breakfast, Lunch, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches

On this Sunday morning, this post begins with breakfast.  So, Good Morning to you too!! I am sure that you will be trying to find a breakfast spot in Rehoboth Beach.  There are plenty; I have my favorites.  The Point is one of them.

dscn5390

The Point is located at 37140 Rehoboth Ave. Extended.  Right where Rt 1 (Coastal Highway) meets 1A.  Tel. 302-260-9734.

I am sure that by now you are realizing how important parking becomes at the Delaware Beaches during the height of the season.  The Point has plenty of parking. No hassle, just pull in.

It is such a quaint building.  Outdoor seating is also available.  The umbrellas will be up; don’t worry.

dscn5389

The Point opens at 7 a.m. and stays open until late in the afternoon.  It also offers lunch, with delicious sandwiches, soups, quiches, and salads.

Beyond dispute; one thing for sure is the fact that breakfast should taste very good.  It is the first meal after a long night sleep.

The Point is a full coffee house; coffee, lattes, and iced coffees, among other coffee drinks.  Coffee is my daily addiction.  I want it bold.

 dscn5379

Even though the other day Tom was not there, the staff was very friendly and attentive.

The Point bakes everything in-house.  Sticky buns, cinnamon buns; they all looked so tempting.

dscn5385

My friend, Susan, and I resisted but we kept on looking.  The croissants, the coffee cakes and all those sinful baked goods.

dscn5380

dscn5381

Fresh artisan breads, homemade granola, made to order waffles and pancakes. You can order to go or stay awhile.  Free Wi-Fi is available, as well.

dscn5376

dscn5378

We were soooo good.  We split a fancy blueberry muffin.

dscn5386

And, we also split the bowl of fruit and yogurt.

dscn5388

Nothing better than catching up with an old friend.

Have a great day in Rehoboth Beach!!  Talk to you later.

Really….the truth is our thoughts were on this cake….the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Cake…we left it right where it belonged; behind the glass case.  Maybe some other time.

Brunch?, Breakfast?, Sundays, Rehoboth Beach Restaurants, Delaware Beaches

Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach

Enjoying your long week-end?  You have to admit that even though it was a bit chilly; it still has been one beautiful day.  Looking to have breakfast or brunch in Rehoboth on Sunday?  Then, check my list because there are plenty of our local restaurants that serve one or another, or both.

IMG_1000

Breakfast vs Brunch?  I really don’t have a preference.  I am not too much of a breakfast person; a bold cup of coffee is what I crave in the a.m.  Breakfast gives you fuel to endure the day, though.  Brunch is a complete different animal.  It is a meal between or instead of breakfast or lunch.

IMG_0595_1

A typical brunch is between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; late morning.  I think brunch is all about how leisure you can be.  Socializing and indulgence come to mind.

What’s Going On? Rehoboth Beach, Winter is Finally Here, A Little bit of This and a Little bit of That, Delaware Beaches

Silver Lake, Rehoboth Beach...Chilly day!!

Silver Lake, Rehoboth Beach...Chilly day!!

It was too cold this a.m. to do anything else so my friend Trish and I decided that it was time catch up.   She is snowbirding this week-end and it was the perfect morning to get together.  We chose The Point Coffee House and Bake Shoppe.  I had just written a post and thought that it was time to try it out.  It is located at the “point” where Rt. 1 meets 1A, at the entrance of Rehoboth Ave.

Boy was I wrong when thinking everyone had gone home we would have the place to ourselves.  It was crowded.  It is comfortable, cozy and Tom is just so friendly, as well as the rest of their staff.

Trish and I were good.  We split our orders and kept within the confinements of New Year’s resolutions, I think.

Our breakfast was delicious…the pictures do not lie.

Rehoboth Beach Museum is Searching for World War II Artifacts

The Museum will be hosting an exhibit that will illustrate the day-to-day life of citizens during WWII.  It is looking only for items of local significance and would like to invite residents to share their family history during this time.  The exhibit is scheduled to open in May 2012.

civiliandefensebook

Rehoboth Beach Museum plans to recall how the lives of those who fought in the war, as well as those they had to leave at home in Rehoboth Beach were changed forever.  The goal is to bring to light and life how residents of Rehoboth Beach were touched by this war; stories told, cherished objects, and visual history.

Already the museum has received photographs that illustrate a group of likely members of the Civil Air Patrol, proudly standing by their planes.  Another important piece of memorabilia in the collection is a WWII rationing coupon booklet.

Nancy Alexander, the Director of the Rehoboth Beach Museum stated “This exhibit is to bring honor to those who fought in the war.  Also, to remember those families who gave up some of the things they loved.  Our area played a major role in the outcome of WWII and it is important to us that we share this with others”.
