Destination? Bethany Beach, Delaware, The Quiet Resort, Events, Bethany Beach Breast Cancer, 5K Fun Run & 3K Walk, Vance Kane Memorial Fund, Little Pink Houses of Hope, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

A sense of community, small town atmosphere, a family destination….the ocean, tax free shopping, and plenty of dining…..that’s Bethany Beach, Delaware.

A big shout to Ann (Annie) Raskauskas, who never stops.  She is the founder of the Annual 5K Fun Run & 3K Walk.  This event happens the second week-end in May every year.  Once again plenty of runners and walkers came to Bethany Beach to help with a good cause.

Annie welcomed everyone…the teams, which were so funny, trying to out do each other.  The theme for 2014 was “Take A Swing Against Breast Cancer”.

Carol got everyone to stretch before the run on the Boardwalk, and presented this young winner with her prize.

This is a feel good event.  So many supporters; everyone knows someone with breast cancer.  This year’s beneficiaries were:  Vance Kane Memorial Fund, supporting Beebe’s Breast Health Center, 302-644-2900.  And, Little Pink Houses of Hope, providing week long beach retreats for breast cancer families.  This year’s retreat is coming up the first week in June.  Their website is http://www.littlepinkhousesofhope.org.

My late husband, John, was a big supporter of the Bethany Beach Breast Cancer.  A banner thanking us, his family, was much appreciated.

Destination? Annual 5K Fun Run, 3K Walk, Annual Bethany Beach Event, Saturday, May 10th, Rain or Shine!, Bethany Beach Bandstand, Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer!, Bethany Beach, The Quiet Resort, Southern Delaware

It does not matter if it rains or shine, this annual event will go on as scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.

Please note that pre-registration is available online until May 8th and costs $25 for adults and $15 for children 10 and under.  FREE t-shirts are guaranteed for those that pre-register.  You can also register on the day of the event when sign-up and check-in begins at 7:00 a.m.

Location?  The Bethany Beach Bandstand, which is the life of this Quiet Resort.

This year’s event theme:  Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer.  It is all about the cause, so just come and participate…4-legged friends can be included, as well.  Remember that they have to be on a leash.

Looking forward for one of the best years ever for this Fun Run/Walk….Bethany Beach is the perfect spot for fund-raising.  The town is somewhat quiet now, but on Saturday, May 10th, Bethany will be running, walking and celebrating.

Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer, 5K Fun Run/3K Walk will benefit this year, Beebe Healthcare Beebe Medical Foundation, Vance Kane Memorial Fund, and Little Pink Houses of Hope.

Prizes will be awarded for most spirited outfits.  Dress in your best baseball gear…team, individual, strollers, wheelchairs, dogs!!!

Almost everyone of us has been touched in some way by breast cancer…..a Mother, a Friend, a Sister…

On Friday, May 9th Packet Pick Up at Bethany Area Realty located at 778 Garfield Parkway (Rt. 26) in Bethany Beach.

Saturday, May 10th:

Same Day registration from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

Stretching at 8:45 a.m.

Announcements at 8:50 a.m.

Race Starts at 9:00 a.m.

At the completion of the race/walk a post event celebration will take place where Baseball/Ballpark style snacks will be provided along with great tunes by DJ Seaside Jimmy.
