Even though visitors to Lewes have been already doing plenty of celebration….this town is just awesome!!  This week-end the Holidays begin in earnest in The First Town of the First State.  So, get ready and have a plan of action so that you can enjoy everything, because all the events, except the hours of visitation for Santa’s House are on Saturday, December 7th.

Saturday, 12/7 – COOKIE WALK SALE – Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 West Fourth St.  This is an annual church fundraising event.  Last year’s cookie sale sold in less than an hour….get there on time.  They are sold by the dozen…$6/dozen.  The cookies are baked by the ladies of Bethel United Methodist Church.  Sit back and relax during the holidays, because they have done the baking for you.  All proceeds go to the Bethel United Methodist Church.  Doors open at 10 a.m.

Saturday, 12/7 – 40TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TOUR OF LEWES – A beloved tradition in this historic town.  It benefits The Lewes Historical Society.  10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Tickets on the day of the tour are $25.  Children under 12 are free. This is a self guided tour that gives you the opportunity to see some of the historic houses decorated for the season.  Tikets can be purchased at The Ryves Holt House Museum Shop at Second and Mulberry Streets in Lewes, Community Bank Delaware, The Lewes Chamber of Commerce, The Zwaanendael Museum, The Inn at Canal Square, Habersham Peddler’s in Lewes, Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach, and the Rehoboth Beach Museum.

Saturday, 12/7 – LEWES HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE, TREE LIGHTING AND CAROLING – Get into the music, cheer for the floats, marchers, cars, dogs and everyone else that participates on this tradition in Lewes.  After the parade, stroll over to the Zwaanendael Park for the tree lighting and caroling lead by Christy Taylor’s music students.  More info?  Please visit http://www.leweschamber.com.

It has been a tradition for many years….the lighting of the beautiful Christmas tree in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Right by the Bandstand and the beautiful award winning Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.  Tonight, Friday, 11/29 the fun begins at 6 p.m.  Bring the family and friends and get ready to sing a long.  Master of Ceremonies will be Drexel Davison, owner of Bad Hair Day?, kicking off the festivities.  Enjoy live entertainment by Doug James.

This week-end children can visit Santa on Friday, 11/29 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.  On Saturday, 11/30, visit with Santa from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.  On Sunday, December 1st Santa will be there from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Check the rest of the schedule at http://www.beach-fun.com/holiday-fun.

Fridays, 12/9 and 12/16 – Be a Deer, Shop Downtown Rehoboth Beach. The downtown merchants will be keeping their shops open for extended hours. They will also be serving some nibbles, as well. At 6 p.m. on both nights, please stop by and pick up a gift bag at Grotto Gelato; shopping, dining coupons and specials will be found inside. Also, enter to win more than $500 in prizes. Free gift wrapping will be available too.

Friday, 12/9 – It will be Fawn Frenzy. A Ladies Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. Enter a chance to win gifts worth more than $500 with a Favorite Things Wish Card. Ladies will be served beverages by “handsome bucks”. No kidding, that’s what I heard. The Ladies will also receive a gift bag filled with shopping and dining coupons and specials. On Saturday, 12/10 pictures with Santa, fun and pizza from 10 until 2 p.m. Also on Saturday a Wine, Cheese & Dessert Tasting from 5 – 9 p.m. Tickets available at the door. Saturday, 12/10 – 3rd Annual Cookie Walk at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach. 9:00 a.m. until “All Gone”. There will be tables and more tables of home-made cookies by the Epworth congregation bakers. $7/pound. Pre-packaged cookie assortments and gift boxes of Fair Trade coffee and chocolate; priced individually. The Heavenly Creations Cookie Cookbook is a collection of over 120 recipes from the Epworth family kitchens…It is new and out for $15.00.

Santa’s House is located at the end of Rehoboth Avenue, right on the famous Rehoboth Boardwalk. The backdrop is the Atlantic Ocean. Please bring the kids for photos at no charge; donations are appreciated, though.
