Sirocco, Restaurant, Review, Mediterranean Cuisine, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, Rehoboth Beach Eats

Pleasantly surprised we were by Sirocco located inside the new Coast Rehoboth Beach. The restaurant has clean lines, a nice bar, good lighting and a friendly staff.

The cuisine is Mediterranean. We arrived right at 6 and while the photo above showed it quiet, well that did not last long. Within half hour all tables were taken.

And what a surprise. Last Wednesday it was buy one entree and get the other free.

I love a whole fish. The flavor is amazing when it is cooked whole. My choice was the whole Branzino. It was roasted, grilled lemon, capers, fresh rosemary and thyme. Those tomatoes on the side were roasted and had an incredible flavor.

The next dish was outstanding as well. The Grilled Lamb Chops. Cooked to perfection. Served with a warm couscous salad, grilled artichokes and roasted eggplant with a mint gremolata. You have to have mint with lamb right? ?

Everything was so good with both entrees. Cannot complain.

We did not have dessert but the were definitely tempting. They had Pistachio Baklava, Canoli Trio and Limoncello Zabaione and Ice Cream.

Sirocco opens Wednesday through Sunday. Every day Happy Hour from 5-7.

For Thanksgiving they are offering a Prix Fixe dinner. 2-5 p.m.

Follow them on Social Media.
AboutMyBeaches is on Facebook and Instagram.

I know when I leave a restaurant and my thoughts are “can’t wait to come back” it is because I really enjoyed it.

If they continue serving this delicious food and good service Sirocco will definitely be a great addition to Rehoboth Beach. ???

Dining, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Henlopen City Oyster House, Restaurant, Raw Bar, Seafood, Review, Delaware Beaches

“We like to keep a constant rotation of beverages and fresh food on hand, that’s why we update our menu daily.”  henlopen city oyster house

With that in mind, my friend, Debbie, and I decided on this restaurant for lunch.  She had asked me to choose…believe it or not, I had never been.  I must be the only one in Rehoboth Beach who has not.  Henlopen City Oyster House is located at 50 Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-260-9193.  Website?  http://www.hcoysterhouse.com.  It opens at Noon for lunch and for dinner, as well.  No reservations.

As you entered the restaurant, to the left was the bar.  Already the Sunday football fans were taking their places.  The bar was crowded and the oyster bar was busy.

dscn9862

It is an oyster house, therefore, a wide variety of oysters are available.  Please check their selections.  Have in mind that they get updated all the time.  http://www.hcoysterhouse.com/specialy.html.

We were surprised to see friends from Ocean City.  They had plates full of oysters.

We chose to sit in their dining room.  It was comfortable with large windows, and the perfect spot to catch up.

The lunch and dinner menu looked great.  Fresh seafood and local foods, supporting the local farmers is something this restaurant takes seriously.

The question to my server was…If you have never eaten here, what would be the dish that would really hook you?  There was no hesitation on her part when she answered…New England Lobster Roll or the Lobster Reuben.  She said they were delicious.

For me that did it.  An order of their Lobster Reuben.  Lobster salad, cole slaw, thousand island dressing, gruyere, grilled rye, served with a choice of side.  I decided on the side salad since this sandwich was going to be big.  When it was placed in front of me, it looked great.  The bread nice and thick….the first bite had my taste buds dancing.  I was hoping I did not have to share.

Debbie went all out, by ordering their Classic Oyster Stew.  It was made in a traditional Eastern Shore classic way with cream, oyster liquor, Worcestershire Sauce, Tabasco, and Old Bay.  It was a little thicker than the one I just had last week in Philadelphia.  Great flavor and consistency.

She decided on the Henlopen City Po’Boy Sandwich.  Debbie chose the Po’Boy made with a combination of scallops and shrimp.  This sandwich was huge, with Creole mustard marinated cabbage, pickled red onions, soft roll.  Her side was the Mac & Cheese, which was creamy, well seasoned with a hint of nutmeg.

No dessert was necessary….a walk around Downtown Rehoboth Beach is what we needed.

We really enjoyed it….great to get together with good friends…Priceless!!  Talk to you later.

Eating…in Rehoboth Beach, Stingray, Sushi Bar & Asian Latino Grill, Delaware Beaches, Restaurant, Review

dscn2205_00

I thought nobody would be eating out the day after Valentine’s Day.  How mistaken I was, when my husband and I decided to go to Stingray, located at 59 Lake Ave.  Tel. 302-227-6476.  Website?  www.stingrayrestaurant.com.

dscn2215_00

It was crowded, lively and with plenty of young people.  This restaurant is a favorite of many.  It is trendy, hip and cool.

dscn2211_00

A full bar with plenty of seating; a lounge on one side of it offers comfortable sofas and lower tables for casual conversation and mingling.  Pictures?  Sorry, it was crowded and you have to give people their privacy.

Stingray does not close during the week.  It is open every single day.  Mondays through Fridays it opens from 4 p.m. until 1 a.m.  On Saturdays and Sundays it opens at Noon until 1 a.m.

Check the website above mentioned.  You will be able to go through the menus.  Stingray offers catering and check for upcoming sushi cooking classes that are held at the restaurant.

Ever since I started my blog I have repeated many times that all my reviews and pictures of restaurants are my personal opinion.  I enjoy going out to dinner; could be a hot dog stand, a food truck, casual or fine dining.  At times, I like a a restaurant on a specific night; other times the same restaurant might leave me lukewarm.  With all that said, then, this is my review of my visit to Stingray on 2/15/12.

I liked the atmosphere and the music.  I felt I was eating at a lounge; lights dimmed just enough; fun and relaxing at the same time.

We ordered some edamame with a soy ginger dipping sauce, fresh lime and sea salt.  I love plain edamame; the dipping  sauce was excellent.

dscn2209_00

Towels to clean our hands had been brought to the table already.

My husband ordered sushi rolls. Unakyu which was a grilled fresh water eel and cucumbers, outside sesame seeds.

Unakyu and Man Eater Sushi Rolls

And, the Man Eater which was fried fresh salmon with jalapeno and spicy mayo; sprinkled with chopped fresh cilantro.

I noticed he was just looking at them and eating them really slow.  Not thrilled.  You know, you can tell when the person is hesitant.  I decided to try one of them.  The best way to describe it? Boring.  There were no games playing with your tastebuds.  He managed to eat most but left a few on his plate.

On the other hand, my Chilean Sea Bass, sambal chili glazed with a crunchy sticky rice cake and bamboo shoot salad was excellent.  The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned.  A bite of the sea bass with the crunchy sticky rice was the best.  Talking about having a party with my tastebuds.

No dessert for us on that evening….will be back to study the sushi menu once again.

Note:  I asked for fresh wasabi; our server said they did not have any.  Hopefully, they will add it to their menu.  It does make such a difference.

Talk to you later…
