Once on the beach….everyone together will charge the beach together…and must stay inside the orange cones while on the beach, haha…good luck. Officers will help you again to cross the road back to The Starboard because the party continues, since you have not been partying enough!!

There is more going on at the Delaware Beaches….these coming to mind on this cloudy Saturday a.m. as I sip my coffee!!  A must.

See you.  Enjoy the day.

What’s Going On? Rehoboth Beach, Winter is Finally Here, A Little bit of This and a Little bit of That, Delaware Beaches

Silver Lake, Rehoboth Beach...Chilly day!!

Silver Lake, Rehoboth Beach...Chilly day!!

It was too cold this a.m. to do anything else so my friend Trish and I decided that it was time catch up.   She is snowbirding this week-end and it was the perfect morning to get together.  We chose The Point Coffee House and Bake Shoppe.  I had just written a post and thought that it was time to try it out.  It is located at the “point” where Rt. 1 meets 1A, at the entrance of Rehoboth Ave.

Boy was I wrong when thinking everyone had gone home we would have the place to ourselves.  It was crowded.  It is comfortable, cozy and Tom is just so friendly, as well as the rest of their staff.

Trish and I were good.  We split our orders and kept within the confinements of New Year’s resolutions, I think.

Our breakfast was delicious…the pictures do not lie.

Rehoboth Beach Museum is Searching for World War II Artifacts

The Museum will be hosting an exhibit that will illustrate the day-to-day life of citizens during WWII.  It is looking only for items of local significance and would like to invite residents to share their family history during this time.  The exhibit is scheduled to open in May 2012.

Rehoboth Beach Museum plans to recall how the lives of those who fought in the war, as well as those they had to leave at home in Rehoboth Beach were changed forever.  The goal is to bring to light and life how residents of Rehoboth Beach were touched by this war; stories told, cherished objects, and visual history.

Already the museum has received photographs that illustrate a group of likely members of the Civil Air Patrol, proudly standing by their planes.  Another important piece of memorabilia in the collection is a WWII rationing coupon booklet.

Nancy Alexander, the Director of the Rehoboth Beach Museum stated “This exhibit is to bring honor to those who fought in the war.  Also, to remember those families who gave up some of the things they loved.  Our area played a major role in the outcome of WWII and it is important to us that we share this with others”.

Doggies at the Beach is located at 18806 John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth Beach.  This road is also known at Rt. 24.  It is a 2,400 square foot indoor, cage free facility.  Overnight care, day care, grooming, instruction, and always a human on site.   Website?  http://www.doggiesatthebeach.com.

This is where I leave my dog Addy.  I cannot tell you enough about this facility.  Ever since I got Addy this is the only place where I have taken her.  Having been abandoned and in cages for many months, this is like her second home.

You know when they say “they are dog people”, well, they definitely are.  They are caring, friendly and fun too, by the way.  Very involved in the community, trying to make a difference; helping the rescue organizations that help abandoned animals.

Right at Doggies at the Beach there area food barrells for the following rescue organizations:  Dog and Cat food needed.  All donations are welcomed.

Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary – A no kill sanctuary.  Please check their website at www.safehavensanctuary.com.   You can find them on Facebook, as well.

Georgetown SPCA – It is a shelter in Georgetown, Delaware, our State of Delaware County Seat and only about 30 minutes from the Beach.  Websited?  You can find them on Facebook as Georgetown Shelter, Delaware SPCA.

Saturday, 9/10 – Tomorrow!! It is Discount vaccination Vet Day from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.  First come, first served.

Nicole, our own Delaware Dog Whisperer is holding puppy and doggie training classes, as I write this post.  Call for schedule and more info.

Note:  Rescuing Addy has been so rewarding.  She has added so much to our family.  At present, she is making sure the workers in my house are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Doggies At The Beach, Doggie Day Care, Boarding, Grooming, Training, Cage Free Facility, 24 Hour Human Supervision, Dog Days of Summer, June 26th, Event, Delaware Beaches

I knew Doggies at the Beach was the place for Addy, when I picked her up after her first trial stay and they said:  “Addy just had a cannoli.”

I have mentioned before that Addy is my “rescue”.  After many years of not owning a dog I decided it was time.  Dogs give so much back.  I wanted her to have her “forever” home.  I cannot imagine what experiences she must have had.  I consider her a survivor.

After researching local rescue organizations, I decided to go to a meet and greet held by Paws of Tomorrow, located in Ocean View, Delaware.  Ocean View is west of Bethany Beach.  They do not have a physical address to see the dogs; they are fostered and brought to different events.  You can visit www.pawsoftomorrow.com.

Addy became part of my family.  Her breed?  Well, lots in there from Beagle to …..

The next thing I needed to find out was a boarding facility. I wanted to be able to leave her where she would be safe and well cared for.  Renee, who has 2 dogs told me about Doggies at the Beach.  It is a cage free facility and that was so important.  Also worth mentioning is that the dogs have 24 hour human supervision.  After Addy had been moved around and in different cages, I did not want her to be in a cage again.  I owed her that much.

A Cage Free Facility

A Cage Free Facility

Another important feature of Doggies at the Beach is that you can follow your dog’s activities on the computer.  Yes, they do have a camera.

So, after 2 years of using Doggies at th Beach exclusively I can totally recommend them.  They are located at 18806 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 (Route 24).  Tel. 302-644-8200.  Website?  www.doggiesatthebeach.com.  You can also find them on Facebook.

Visit the website to check what is needed in the event that you would like to be a part of Doggies at the Beach.

I first took Addy for a temperament evaluation.  What?  This angel?  She passed.  Thank God.  It is a free cage environment. There is a reason for the evaluation.
