Destination? Gray’s Beach, Yarmouthport, Cape Cod, Public Beach, “You Can’t Get Lost On The Cape”

A holiday week-end in October and the perfect time of the year to visit friends in East Sandwich, MA.  The weather was awesome, and the leaves, although not completely turned, were just very pretty indeed.

Driving through the towns I could not believe how crowded they were.  Just like here at the Delaware Beaches, the visitors there were getting out of the city and some were just spending the week-end in their summer homes.

Apparently there is a saying in Cape Cod; “You can’t get lost on the Cape”….you just have to keep on going  and at some point or another you will hit the water.  And so we did…Gray’s Beach!!  You hit this beach as you travel north from 6A along Centre Street in Yarmouthport.

The first thing that caught my attention was the long Boardwalk, which extends over salt marsh partway to beach.  You can get an excellent view of marshes, plant, and marine life.

The beach is perfect for young children, a nice sandy beach and the right place for adults to unwind, or take your kajak through these calm waters.

Have a good one.

Destination? Nantucket, Massachusetts, Fall Travels

dscn1475

Cape Air brought me to Nantucket safe and sound.  Just a few of us in the airplane.  Mike was our pilot.

The airport in Nantucket is called Nantucket Memorial Airport.  Can you believe that this airport is the second busiest commercial airport in the state?  Must be all those private jets landing all the time to enjoy one beautiful island.

My friends were waiting for me and we took off to eat at the their club.  Privacy of the club….it will remain anonymous.

The view from our outdoor seating was gorgeous.

dscn1497

Clam chowder for some of us….I thought delish!!

dscn1490

Lobster roll for me….I ate it in memory of my husband, John Merryman, III who thought that there was no other lobster roll in the world as good as in Nantucket.

dscn1493

Fried clam chowder for another….our 95 year old Aunt Barbie.

Then, Welsh Rarebit for another one eating it also in memory of Peter.

And a sandwich with more amazing onions rings!! Well, behind the mountain of onion rings.

I will have more posts from Nantucket…stay tuned.

This island is loved by many.  I thought there was a lot of new construction in town.  Some traveling authorities say that it is the Best Island in The World, or one of America’s Top Ten Most Desirable Islands, or, the Perfect Beach Town for a Fall Vacation….I would have to agree on that one.
