Celebrating the 25th Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware was a big event. It is getting more and more popular every year. Thousands came to the Delaware Beaches to enjoy one gorgeous week-end. I heard that the rentals either equaled or exceeded the Fourth of July!!
Getting out of town and away from the usual….jobs, the news nationwide and around the world. Thanks to Rehoboth Beach for putting one awesome festival! 3 full days of entertainment in Downtown Rehoboth Beach….check it out next year.
One of my favorite events takes place on the Sunday of Sea Witch. It is called Monsters on Parade. Rehoboth Beach loves dogs and this is one event totally dedicated to them and their owners. The parade starts on the north end of the Boardwalk. There is a registration process and also a competition of sorts.
The Boardwalk was lined with visitors…..and those dogs that were not competing, they were dressed up and waiting for the parade to pass by.
The French Poodles made their appearance again. The first photo was a couple of years ago…..I think they are more relaxed now.
Check this next photo….only in Rehoboth Beach!! Love it!
The floats!!
There were dogs everywhere you looked.
Norman, The Scooter Dog was busy all week-end long…he must have been exhausted. He got so many treats!
I think the Mastiff was pretending to be paying attention….he really was asleep. Hey, wake up, those monsters are coming!
The week ended with All Hallows’ Eve or All Saints Eve…that’s really what it is. “The traditional focus of All Hallows’ Eve revolves around the theme of using “humor and ridicule to condront the power of death”.
I bought all kinds of candy. You know how it is; the day you don’t buy they will show up by the hundreds. I was getting worried but, they did come.
The girls were like “can I have another piece? They boys were diving into the candy. There are no basket anymore….just big bags.
When my trick or treaters rang the bell, I had to go outside so my pooch who was barking her head off would not get out. I put my camera on top of the candy…..one kid said “Wow you are giving cameras!” Not this year I responded.
Happy Halloween!!

“Under the moon, we heard a dreary howl. ‘Twas an orange cat on a prowl. Disguised? Oh, no!! He would play wicked tricks that caused us fright.”
Halloween started with 3 friends getting together for dinner. Susan, Joan, The Pearl Lady, and I decided on Agave as our dinner destination on this frightful night. We arrived…and surprised!! No waiting. That’s what I like. We decided on some chips and guacamole. Always delicious.
Agave is a true success in Historic Lewes, Delaware. It has been serving consistent delicious meals at very affordable prices. Location? 137 Second St., Lewes, DE 19958. Tel. 302-645-1232. No reservations, but you can call in a put your name on the list when crowded.
Favorites at Agave and the ones we ordered were:
Fish Tacos – Puffy
Chiles en Nogales – A signature dish at Agave.
My Tamal was outstanding….the corn bread spicy. So good, I bought some for home.
We were totally satisfied….no way we could attempt to have dessert. We would have to leave that for another time. But, take a peek!
The night was still young, so many begging for candy. Out and about, my neighborhood was in a Halloween kinda of a mood.
My Gatekeepers tried not to le me in. Susan was scared…..Joan had taken off for Milford.
Halloween was turning out to be one heck of a frightful experience! I had never seen my neighborhood this way.
A bad hair day no matter what holiday it is.
Another encounter and it was time to go home….See you next year!!
October 31st, 2012
Leave it to the young ones to put smiles on our faces and make merry on this last day of October. We all needed that. Sadly, others in the U.S. could not celebrate Halloween. The kids in Rehoboth Beach were so happy….I am so glad I got candy at the last minute.
I was not sure if the kids were going to be trick or treating. There I was checking Downtown Rehoboth Beach. Still amazed that we made out so well. How lucky!!
It was 5:55 p.m. when I found out trick or treating would be starting at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Like a mad woman I took off for CVS. I thought no trick or treaters were going to come. Last year just a few came.
6:05 p.m. the first door bell. Addy was barking away. She did that for the duration of every ring. This year, there were plenty of kids in our neighborhood going from door to door.
Witches, ghosts, policemen, bears, you name it. From less than 2 years of age to a couple that probably were too old to trick or treat.
I hoped I had enough candy. I did. I even bought candy I did not like, just in case I got stuck with it. I did not want to eat any.
For the most part, every time they got candy I asked to take their picture. So….meet my trick or treaters.
And let me tell you…those little ones were pros, already.
All the next kid wanted to do was ring the doorbell…he loved it. Finally, he looked up.
The Bear wanted to see Addy, my dog. Finally, he gave up.
And this little bear’s sister thought I needed more decorations. What did she mean by that? I thought my entry way looked the part. All kinds of leaves and sad looking ferns after Sandy. I don’t know what she was even talking about.
This group sang a whole song.
And when my last trick or treaters arrived, I burst out laughing. Look at this little boy’s face!! It was priceless!!!!!
But, what else is there to say but,….I hope you had a…
