Just in case…information on weather related cancellations and postponement of festival events…please tune in to WGMD 92.7 FM, BIG Classic Rock 98.5 & 103.5, The B 95.3 & 101.7, and Hot Country 107.7.  You can also call the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce at 302-227-6446.

In the event of unsafe weather, the parade will be postponed until 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 10/28.  There is no scheduled rain date or location for floats or motorized vehicles.  Therefore, in the event of postponement, only walking participants who can meet the requirements of the Boardwalk size, etc. may participate in the costume walking parade on the Rehoboth Boardwalk (follow the same route as dog parade).

The 23rd Annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler’s Festival is produced by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center.  They are located as you come into Rehoboth Beach, by the roundabout.  Can’t miss them.

If I were you, I would stop there first and pick up a Sea Witch is Smokin’ brochure.  It is about 29 pages of events throughout the week-end.   Two websites to visit for further information:  http://www.beach-fun.com and http://www.seawitchfestival.com.

The Visitors Center also has Sea Witch Festival souvenirs for sale.

You can also pick up at the Visitors Center a Sand Dollar Savings business card.  The card lists businesses that offer 10% of any one single regular price item.

Grove Park is behind the Visitors Center, Rehoboth Museum and Chamber of Commerce….Friday, 10/26 Choo Choo Express, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.  Kids can ride on the Grand Rental Station’s Choo Choo Express that will travel through Grove Park.  Ages 2 – 7.  It is free (donations are appreciated).   At 6:30 p.m. is Movie in the Park.  Bring your chairs and blankets and be ready to watch The Smurfs.  It is free, but donations are appreciated.

At Grove Park you will also find Magic Shows on Saturday and Sunday.  And, Monster Art can be created on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the pavilions at Grove Park.  All participants will receive a ribbon.  No fee, donations appreciated.

The merchants have been decorating their shops.  These are a few that caught my eye.

One of my favorite events at the festival is the Monsters on Parade.  It is supposed to be on Sunday, starting with registration at 2 p.m. at the north end of the Boardwalk near the Henlopen Hotel.  Parade will begin at 3 p.m.  Winners of the Best Constumed Dog Contest will be announced at the Bandstand at 4:30 p.m.  Please note that the parade is weather dependent.

Here are some of my 2011 pictures!!

Rehoboth Beach was cloudy and quiet today.  What a difference to see the Boardwalk with just a few people.

I was watching the cameraman getting ready for the reporter to go on camera.  They were checking the beach.  Everything was quiet.

One of the most awaited festivals is around the corner in Rehoboth Beach; The Sea Witch Festival, bringing also to the celebration The Fiddler’s Festival, as well.  The festivals will take place this coming week-end.

For complete information and schedule of all the activities around town, please visit www.beach-fun.com/Sea-Witch-Halloween-Fiddlers-Festival/

But let me clue you in on a few things:

The Fiddler’s Festival has been billed as “top string!”  Fiddler’s and banjo players alike provide a full day of foot stompin’ entertainment.

Best Costumed Pet Parade will be on Sunday 10/31.  Pet owners will parade down the Boardwalk.  Line up starts at 12 p.m. and judging will start at 12:30 p.m.

Registration?  Lake View Avenue, next to the Henlopen Hotel on the north side of the Boardwalk.  Fee?  $1.00.

Doggies at the Beach – Doggies at the Beach is a cage free day care, spa grooming; regular baths, obedience training, education and overnight care with 24-hour supervision.

They are located at 18806 John J. Williams Highway (Rt. 24), Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-644-8200.  Website is www.doggiesatthebeach.com.

I can recommend Doggies at the Beach with complete confidence.  I have used the overnight care for my dog, Addy, so many times.

Doggies at the Beach will have a FLOAT on Saturday.  All are welcomed to walk right along the FLOAT with your doggie and have a “Bow Wow” time.  Just let Jim know by calling the above mentioned telephone number.

On Sunday, 10/31 is the Best Costumed Pet Parade. Again, I want to remind you that pet owners and pets will parade down the Boardwalk.  Line-up starts at 12 p.m. and judging starts at 12:30 p.m.

Please feel free to walk with the Doggies at the Beach crowd.

Have a great time…..talk to you later….
