Kabab Falafel Addiction, Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, Eat In, Carry Out, Parking

Kabab Falafel Addiction is located at The Shoppes of Camelot right on Coastal Highway. Middle Eastern food, casual, eat in or carry out. Plenty of parking.

Stopped by since I had not been in some time. I only had a couple of things. The restaurant is so clean and the service is very good. I was doing errands and got hungry.

I love Hummus and a traditional one you will find here. Warm pita bread. I was asked if they could spice it up. I said yes. It was not spicy; just perfect.

A Tabouleh Salad I also ordered. Tabouleh is bulgur wheat. This was not one that I particularly liked because it hardly had Tabouleh. Too much parsley.

Summer is around the corner and going to the beach with a picnic would be great. Order from here, hassle free and enjoy the day.

The restaurant opens at 11:00 a.m.

Check them on Social Media. Facebook as Kabab Falafel Addiction and on Instagram as fkaddiction.

I remember when….just a year ago when Leo opened Modern Mixture.  My oh my….word of mouth, consistently good food, always a big smile….Leo’s nuevo latino cooking is full of taste and very healthy, as well.  His cooking is always fresh; always from scratch.

Modern Mixture is located at 62A Rehoboth Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, on the ocean block.  Tel. 302-227-0600.  You can find Modern Mixture on Facebook and Twitter.  Website?  http://www.modern-mixture.com.

I was so hungry; having starved myself since I had to attend my “low fat” eating group.  So, I said to Leo:  Necesito algo para almorzar, bajo en grasa. (I need something for lunch, low in fat.) No problem, he said.  Not on the menu but I have this meatloaf….what?  I meant low fat, Leo.  No no, he continued.  The meatloaf was made out of chickpeas and beans, with some oatmeal.  Just a slight topping of ketchup, mustard, honey, and barbecue sauce.  Totally oil free and vegan.

Leo was going to place a small piece of meatloaf on my salad, then add about 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes….again, no oil added to the potatoes, just almond milk.  And then, on the other side of the plate he added steamed veggies!!   Voila!

dscn3268

It was so tasty and smooth, I could not get over it.  I know I was hungry, but it was really soooo good!!

To complete my healthy lunch I had the Green Powerhouse Smoothie with green apple, pineapple, ginger, kale and coconut water.  The best way to hydrate and cleanse your body.

dscn3270

Modern Mixture has a liquor license and Leo is going to town with great drinks like ModMix Margarita made with organic Agave juice and fresh lime and lemon juice.  The Classic Mojito Cubano with mint, sugar cane, fresh lime juice and lemon-lime soda.  Cuba Libre…Bacardi Solera rum, coke and fresh lime juice….Leo, how about Don Q…best rum from Puerto Rico?  Anyway, Modern Mixture is offering fun drinks that are going to be very popular this 2013 Summer Season!.

Have a great day….what are you waiting for?

Corner Grille, American Food, Authentic Greek Cuisine, Eat In, Take-Out, Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Restaurant, Review, Falafel, Tzatziki, Gyros, YUM! Serving Breakfast All Day Long!, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

dscn3174

Such a friendly smile; it said a lot.  I loved it because it was Mother’s Day when my son and I chose Corner Grille in Downtown Rehoboth Beach for our special lunch.  We could have had breakfast but we knew what we wanted; Greek food.  We had been told what to ask for.  Steve and Rene, local foodies, are customers of this restaurant that has been in Rehoboth Beach since 2009.  Nothing better than word of mouth.

I kept thinking where have I seen her?  It was Soula who owns Alterations by Soula on Coastal Highway.  She is a friend of the family and was helping on Sunday.  Great to see her.

Corner Grille is located at 11 South First Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  Tel. 302-227-7653.  Website?  http://www.cornergrillerehoboth.com.  It is a family owned and operated restaurant.  Corner Grille offers breakfast all day long, lunch, eat in our take out.  Pretty soon, as the season opens, they will also be serving dinner. At present, it opens from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Catering is available and if you like it a lot, they have gifts certificates, as well.

Two dining rooms are available.  The restaurant is casual. George showed us our table.

dscn3166

We decided to start with an order of Falafel.  These well seasoned fritters or croquettes are made out of chickpeas, fava beans or both.  They were delicious; crispy on the outside with a soft center.

dscn3160

We asked George to bring us an order of Tzatziki sauce with pita bread.  I love this sauce.  It is a blend of yogurt, sour cream, cucumber and garlic, incorporating at times, lemon juice, dill, parsley or mint.  It is a versatile sauce, used as an appetizer or a side dish, and served cold.  The pita was warm and the combination with the sauce was perfect.

dscn3159

My son and I, both ordered the same thing.  The Gyro!!  The correct pronunciation?  “Yee-roh”.  Known to be the best in town.  I did not know that the Gyro is considered an American-Greek sandwich, originating in New York in the early 1970s.

To me the perfect Gyro is made out of lamb, sliced; not ground.  The slices of the lamb are then served on the bread, topped with garnishes, Feta cheese, and….Tzatziki sauce!!  That’s how it came out.  It was so delicious!!

dscn3164

My son and I enjoyed every bite and we were totally satisfied.

Corner Grille has a full menu, from the traditional breakfast, to salads, burgers, and Greek specialties…they also have a kids menu.

dscn3167

George and Irene, and the rest of the family were great….they sent us home with some of their homemade rice pudding!!

dscn3184

Affordable, delicious, great service!!!  What are you waiting for?

dscn3175

Note:  The Board says a lot!

Eating in…Rehoboth Beach, The Charcoal Grill, Restaurant, Full Bar, Eat In, Carry Out, Catering, Barbecue, New Location, Review, Delaware Beaches

dscn4139

Wendy and Tracy went from having The Charcoal Deli to a full restaurant and bar called The Charcoal Grill.  They are now located at 19287 Miller Rd., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  You will find right on Rt. 1 or Coastal Highway, next to the Food Lion.  Tel. 302-260-9615.

Their motto is also the same:  “We Grill While You Chill.”  You can find their menu at www.rehoboth.com/charcoaldeli.  The old address is still on that menu.  Don’t worry about it.

As we enter our Summer Season at the Delaware Beaches there is nothing better than good barbecue.  I love to barbecue myself using charcoal.  At The Charcoal Grill they slow cook over a charcoal grill.  The taste is the best.

Good barbecue cannot be faked.  You need to cook it with love; nurture it until it is just ready.

We decided to visit The Charcoal Grill on Saturday evening.  They are open 7 days a week. I can see it becoming a local’s hang out.  Both Wendy and Tracy are very friendly and fun.

The restaurant has gone through a complete renovation.  Lively colors let you know you are entering a restaurant that is relaxed and casual.

On one side of the restaurant, plenty of seatings.  On the other side you will find the bar, which is small but very comfortable.  They have used their space well; besides the bar there are high tables for dining, as well.

dscn4132

I was so pleasantly surprised to see how good it looked.  Background music was playing and it was crowded.

There is plenty of parking and as the season gets into high gear, parking is a bit of a test of patience in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  So, I am giving you a head up because The Charcoal Grill is worth it.

Almost everything is made in-house, except hot dogs and a few other things.  They are very well aware of gluten allergies.  Their barbecue sauces and rubs are gluten free.  If you do have a question, please talk to either one of them.

My husband, who has the gluten allergy, decided to have the baby backs with potato salad and cole slaw.  Corn bread would have accompanied them, but that was not gluten free.

 dscn4137

I had the combination of chicken and baby backs, accompanied with cole slaw and their veggies of the day.

dscn4138

I tasted the veggies first.  They were cooked to perfection, and so buttery.  The ribs were amazing.  I am not kidding.  They were crispy with the sauce adding that perfect blend.  The chicken fell off the bones.  It was that good.

These ladies know how to cook.  They also offer salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, dinners to go and deli take out.  The desserts are made from scratch.

They are planning on serving breakfast on week-ends soon; but not yet.

Check them out and tell me if you liked it.

Oh, I almost forgot….they offer catering.

Have a good one!!

Wu’s Kitchen, Chinese & Japanese Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, Review, Delaware Beaches

I woke up this morning and said “I am not sure if I liked that Chinese food last night”.  The answer came back from the peanut gallery “Well, you sure ate enough of it.”  Do I dare tell you who this came from?  Of course; my husband, you know the picky one, who actually did not have any because of his gluten allergy.  I wished him a very good morning, if you get my drift.

About 2 months ago Wu’s Kitchen opened at 19324 Lighthouse Plaza Blvd., in the Lighthouse Shopping Center, where one of my favorite grocery stores, Giant, is located.  Also  Jay’s Wayback Burgers and Casapulla’s are in that shopping center, as well.  Their telephone:  302-226-1788 and 302-226-1778.  They open 7 days a week.  Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.

dscn0937

Right after they opened 3 of us went.  I was having trouble communicating regarding the gluten allergy so I just ordered something that I thought would be gluten free.  I did one of those when your voice gets a little louder thinking that they might be able to understand you.  It was crazy.

Fast forward another month.  Last night I made chiles rellenos for my husband.  I just did not feel like eating that so decided to take a trip to Wu’s Kitchen.  It was late so nobody was there at that time.  I ordered more than I needed to in order to write a post. Yeah, sure.

dscn0936

An order of Fried Wonton – Very crispy and I liked them.

dscn0942

Number 66 was Double Cooked Pork – I, actually, did not like this one too much.  I thought I was ordering something else.  The pork was a little dry even though it was mixed with the vegetables and sauce.

dscn0938

Number 16 was part of their Szechuan & Hunan Dishes – Orange Chicken.  It was good and the orange rind and flavor was distinctive.

dscn0939

My fortune cookies did not say anything exciting.  No number combinations or anything like that.  Just “Declare Peace Every Day”. I do that all the time, anyway.  Maybe that was it!!

dscn0943

Wu’s Kitchen was immaculate.  The restaurant has booths and single tables.  Or, like most people, you can take out.

They have specials too.  Mondays through Saturdays, until 3 p.m., for $6 you can have 3 choices from their buffet, a soda, and a choice of white rice, brown rice, or fried rice.  Pretty good deal.

Please note that when I write about a restaurant, you have to take into consideration that this is my personal experience.  We all have different tastes and expectations….I visit the same restaurants often…small restaurants, dives, a hot dog stand, or a “cuchifrin” as they would say in Puerto Rico….looking for that exceptional bite…have a great day!!

Why don’t you try it and let me know?
