Jam, Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, American Food, Delaware Beaches, Do you like Deviled Eggs?

A stop to Jam to check out their new location on 210 Second St. (corner of Wilmington Ave.) They do have a rooftop bar, as well.

Just sat in the bar area. Hungry for something simple. Basic American food.

Their telephone is 302-226-5266. They are on Social Media.

I had the best Deviled Eggs. So different but very good. Lump Crab Deviled Eggs with candied bacon, jalapeño and Old Bay dijonaise. If you look at the photo up close the base of the egg is the egg white, of course, except that the egg white is a square almost cooked in a mold and then topped with the filling.

The Scallop Mornay Portabellas with a slightly wilted spinach salad and cherry tomatoes with a Balsamic reduction I would say they were very good.

BBQ Grilled Half chicken was what I wanted. Great pomegranate BBQ sauce.

Jam is good for the whole family. Try it.

AboutMyBeaches is on Facebook and Instagram.

Check me out to find out about, events, restaurants, reviews, where to shop and what to cook for dinner.

Blue Moon, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Restaurant, Review, American Food, Nate on the Keys, Magnolia, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware, Summer at the Beaches

Seems we go to Downtown Rehoboth Beach on Wednesdays. Middle of the week, not too many people, praying for that. Weekends are impossible. So many restaurants to try and to go back. Have not been to all. The meters drive me insane.

Our choice? Blue Moon. This restaurant has been in Rehoboth Beach for so many years. It is located at 35 Baltimore Ave. Tel. 302-227-6515. Website? http://www.bluemoonrehoboth.com

You can make a reservation for the dining room or you can do like we do and make a high top reservation for the bar. You can enjoy a full menu there, as well. From Sunday through Thursday Nate on the Keys is playing. He brings his guests too. Check their website as the second season has started.

The bar area is fun with a diverse group of customers. One thing we all have in common is eating good food, having good service and the enjoyment of live music.

Magnolia was in the house. She sang with Nate and they were so funny together. Her last show, Games with Magnolia was Thursday. Things change a little during the second season.

One appetizer I always ordered and at times that is my dinner is the Tuna Carpaccio. #1 tuna, garlic aioli, shallot, lemon, olive oil and chives. So good on a hot summer night at the beach.

I love octopus so an order for the table of the Crispy Octopus was a must. Shareable too. The octopus was crispy on the outside and very soft in the middle. The chorizo gave the fingerlings and white beans a tasty flavor. And, the chimichurri added even more flavor and color.

Usually we have drinks and appetizers and continue on to try other places to eat in Rehoboth, but Wednesday we decided to stay. The food coming out looked amazing.

The Duck Breast was an entree, ordered medium rare. It has those delicious fingerlings, french beans, and a blueberry compote. Definitely well received.

I have not had anything blackened in a long time. My choice was the Blackened Sea Bass, over Carolina grits, baby carrots and peas. I was between that and the swordfish but once I saw the grits on the menu, it was a done deal. I would suggest to them to have these grits as a side dish so they are always available. I could have had a bowl. If you are there, this is one dish I would suggest you order if you like seafood.

Life continues at the beach in spite of the fact that the world is going to pieces. Fires, storms, floods, world unrest. This is a special weekend remembering the time when our innocent as a country was lost.

We have a lot of venues that offer live music. Bob Marley quoted “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”.

Have a nice weekend and remember AboutMyBeaches has its own page on Facebook. There and here the purpose is to promote our beaches, to find out about events, restaurants, reviews, where to shop and what to cook for dinner.

Crawling! Rehoboth Beach, Shorebreak Lodge, Restaurant, Bar, Downtown Rehoboth, Wilmington Ave., 133 Steps to The Beach!! Southern Delaware, Delaware Beaches

A Crawl…a slow intentional one….In Downtown Rehoboth Beach a crawl is the thing to do.  Stop and taste, crawl, stroll, shop…..stop and taste again.  This is going to be a good week-end at the Delaware Beaches.

If you are in town and want something tasty to start your evening, please stop at Shorebreak Lodge located at 10 Wilmington Avenue.  Tel. 302-227-1007; they do accept reservations.  But, you might be able to grab a table if you go early, or even sit at the bar.  It does have a good atmosphere.  Website?  http://www.shorebreaklodge.com.  You can also follow them on Facebook.

This was my second visit to Shorebreak.  On my first visit a post was developed.  You can check it out by clicking on the month of May, 2014 and scrolling to the 4th.

We followed a recommendation….the Achovy Pizza was to be ordered and shared.  This pizza had boquerones.  Boquerones are delicate white sardines.  Many years ago I first tasted them in Spain…they are used as appetizers, in a variety of dishes and are available all the time.  Boquerones are pricey, here in the U.S.A., and very trendy these days.

The Anchovy Pizza….Naan, black olives, boquerones, and caramelized onion…..great flavor and well done.

The second dish we had was the Grilled Octopus.  It was served with avocado, melon, tomato, cucumber, radish and a vinaigrette of basil and oil.  Look at the size of this appetizer.  Perfect for sharing…delicate flavors and mild.

Our Crawl was starting on a good note….  On to the next….a post in the making.

Rehoboth Beach Eats! GreenMan, Juice Bar, Bistro, Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

dscn6861

Looking for a place to have breakfast before hitting the tax free shopping in Rehoboth Beach?  Hopefully, the day will turn out at pretty as Friday, when Rehoboth Beach was a bit chilly but with a bright blue sky…..The award-winning Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk was quiet around 8:15 a.m.  Believe me, I like it that way.  Hard to believe how crowded it does get during the height of the season.  On Friday, all Jody and I were doing was having breakfast at GreenMan.

dscn6859dscn6868

GreenMan is a juice bar, and a bistro.  Located at 12 Wilmington Ave., which is one street south of Rehoboth Avenue.  They open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  For sure you can count on them Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  They have been opening on Monday but it would be best to call 302-227-4909 to make sure.  They will be open the day before and after Christmas, as well.

dscn6869

Cozy and comfortable inside…during the summer months outside on their porch…dining is the best!!  Their website is http://www.greenmanjuicebar.com.  Lots to choose; an extensive menu.  Gluten free bread is available for those with a gluten allergy.

Homemade quiche for Jody….you can also order a whole quiche for those unexpected guests.

And, for me?  I had a craving for smoked salmon.  It was so good.

Have a great day!!

Dining, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Henlopen City Oyster House, Restaurant, Raw Bar, Seafood, Review, Delaware Beaches

dscn9864

“We like to keep a constant rotation of beverages and fresh food on hand, that’s why we update our menu daily.”  henlopen city oyster house

With that in mind, my friend, Debbie, and I decided on this restaurant for lunch.  She had asked me to choose…believe it or not, I had never been.  I must be the only one in Rehoboth Beach who has not.  Henlopen City Oyster House is located at 50 Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-260-9193.  Website?  http://www.hcoysterhouse.com.  It opens at Noon for lunch and for dinner, as well.  No reservations.

dscn9863

As you entered the restaurant, to the left was the bar.  Already the Sunday football fans were taking their places.  The bar was crowded and the oyster bar was busy.

dscn9862

It is an oyster house, therefore, a wide variety of oysters are available.  Please check their selections.  Have in mind that they get updated all the time.  http://www.hcoysterhouse.com/specialy.html.

We were surprised to see friends from Ocean City.  They had plates full of oysters.

dscn9860

We chose to sit in their dining room.  It was comfortable with large windows, and the perfect spot to catch up.

dscn9855

The lunch and dinner menu looked great.  Fresh seafood and local foods, supporting the local farmers is something this restaurant takes seriously.

The question to my server was…If you have never eaten here, what would be the dish that would really hook you?  There was no hesitation on her part when she answered…New England Lobster Roll or the Lobster Reuben.  She said they were delicious.

For me that did it.  An order of their Lobster Reuben.  Lobster salad, cole slaw, thousand island dressing, gruyere, grilled rye, served with a choice of side.  I decided on the side salad since this sandwich was going to be big.  When it was placed in front of me, it looked great.  The bread nice and thick….the first bite had my taste buds dancing.  I was hoping I did not have to share.

dscn9853

Debbie went all out, by ordering their Classic Oyster Stew.  It was made in a traditional Eastern Shore classic way with cream, oyster liquor, Worcestershire Sauce, Tabasco, and Old Bay.  It was a little thicker than the one I just had last week in Philadelphia.  Great flavor and consistency.

dscn9847

She decided on the Henlopen City Po’Boy Sandwich.  Debbie chose the Po’Boy made with a combination of scallops and shrimp.  This sandwich was huge, with Creole mustard marinated cabbage, pickled red onions, soft roll.  Her side was the Mac & Cheese, which was creamy, well seasoned with a hint of nutmeg.

dscn9850

No dessert was necessary….a walk around Downtown Rehoboth Beach is what we needed.

We really enjoyed it….great to get together with good friends…Priceless!!  Talk to you later.
