The Second Season in Rehoboth Beach is way underway. Rehoboth Beach has something going on every week. At times I almost forget that summer is over. If you are here, this week-end, then check what’s going on.

Saturday, 10/13 – Rehoboth Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Official Sponsors? Doggies at The Beach. The walk will take place at Grove Park located at 501 Rehoboth Avenue. Doggies at The Beach will have a Pooch Table. Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Saturday, 10/13 – From the Rehoboth Beach Film Society – On Screen/In Person. The goal of the program is to bring the vision of some of the country’s best independent filmmakers to a broad audience throughout the mid-Atlantic region, especially in communities with limited access to their work. Runaway will be featured at the Upstairs Screening Room, at Movies at Midway located on Coastal Highway. Admission is $4 for Rehoboth Beach Film Society members and $5 for future members. Saturday, 10/13 – From Heidi Lowe Gallery – Art in the Yard. An art show in front of Heidi Lowe Gallery from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Artists will display their work; an annual multidisciplinary art show that takes place on the grounds in front of the Gallery. New Year & New Expectations; that’s what this post should be called. The Delaware Beaches are becoming more popular every year. The attraction of low property taxes, along with the amenities make the beaches a year-round playground. Tax free shopping, mild winters, beautiful scenery…the towns have been crowded during the week-ends. This is our Second Season and a few quieter months is the perfect time, for us that live here year-round, to truly embrace the beaches.

I have never seen a facility as busy as Doggies at the Beach. Of course, they are busy with all their “customers”. They get their undivided attention. At the helm is Jim, along with his staff. Individuals that all in common have a love for dogs.

Saturday, October 22nd – Doggies at The Beach will be sponsoring a Big Extravaganza for Howl-O-Ween to be held at Pottery Place and Bin 66 Parking Lot on Rt. 1, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Bethany Blues will offer free human food, while Concord Pet will offer free dog food treats. Costume prizes and a lot of H o w l i n g F u n.
This event will also be a fund raiser for Safe Haven. Safe Haven is a no kill sanctuary. You will be able to see some of their dogs that are available for adoption. Please visit their website www.safehaven.org.
Sunday, October 30th – The Sea Witch Human Parade will be at 11 a.m. Doggies at The Beach will have a float so please “Bark At Them” when they pass by. You got it….Biscuit and Freckles will be there with treats for all.
The Doggie Parade will be at 1:00 p.m. on the Boardwalk where they can show off all of their costumes.

Wait until you see the 2 Jack Russells that are currently being fostered by Doggies at the Beach. They are up for adoption but until their forever home is found, they will be spending time at this much loved doggie day care facility.
If you are interested in these 2 lovable Jack Russells, please have in mind that they need to be adopted together. They are a bonded pair.

Doggies at the Beach is located at 18806 John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth Beach. This road is also known at Rt. 24. It is a 2,400 square foot indoor, cage free facility. Overnight care, day care, grooming, instruction, and always a human on site. Website? http://www.doggiesatthebeach.com.
This is where I leave my dog Addy. I cannot tell you enough about this facility. Ever since I got Addy this is the only place where I have taken her. Having been abandoned and in cages for many months, this is like her second home.
You know when they say “they are dog people”, well, they definitely are. They are caring, friendly and fun too, by the way. Very involved in the community, trying to make a difference; helping the rescue organizations that help abandoned animals.
Right at Doggies at the Beach there area food barrells for the following rescue organizations: Dog and Cat food needed. All donations are welcomed.
Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary – A no kill sanctuary. Please check their website at www.safehavensanctuary.com. You can find them on Facebook, as well.

Note: Rescuing Addy has been so rewarding. She has added so much to our family. At present, she is making sure the workers in my house are doing what they are supposed to be doing.
