Nectar, Cafe, Juice Bar, Restaurant, Breakfast, Lunch, Crafted Beers, Wine, Historic Lewes, Delaware, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

In the area for vacation? Or, are you one of the many that have moved to Southern Delaware to enjoy low property taxes, no sales tax, great beaches and pretty good weather too? And, I almost forgot to tell you that there are so many restaurants for the foodies and for the ones that love the Boardwalk Grub.

I have plenty of favorite restaurants in the area. This time of the year you may have to plan a bit more. Traffic is a pain, meters too?

Nectar, I do love. I can take a seat at the bar. It is located at 111 Neils Alley in Historic Lewes. Breakfast and lunch. It closes at 3.

We sat at the bar. Lunch was ongoing. Look at the menu.

The Vedge Sandwich was ordered. Zucchini squash, portobello mushroom, roasted red peppers, sauteed onions, spinach, mozzarella, pesto and balsamic glaze. It came with a salad. A Bloody Mary accompanied this sandwich. TC thought it was delicious and for those staying with veggies as a choice it was great.

I loved my choice. First the Quinoa Salad was outstanding. Some of you may turn your noses at this grain but maybe you need to go to Nectar and try it. It had mixed tomatoes, Kalamata o,ives, cucumber, red onion and Feta cheese on a bed of mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette. I decided to order a side of their chicken salad. My plate was huge. I love chicken salad in the summer. This particular one is the best I have had. I kid you not. See for yourself. It had green grapes, granny smith apples, toasted pecans, gouda cheese and a hint of red onion. Cannot wait to have it again.

Fresh juices are a specialty of Nectar. I seem to always order the Lean Green Machine. It is on the above photo. Green Apple, Cucumber, Basil, Spinach, lime and jalapeño. A bit of a kick but very healthy it makes me feel.

Now that the Fourth of July holiday is over summer will roll over.

So many restaurants to try and so little time.

Enjoy and relax. AboutMyBeaches is on Facebook and Instagram. Check it Out?

Talia’s Tuscan Table, Deli, Pizza, Pasta, Catering, Dine In, Take Out, Restaurant, Review, Boca Raton, Florida…Nice!

dscn1360

Did I forget to say, that everything is homemade?  The mozzarella, the ciabatta bread, and cannoli.  The prices are so reasonable, the friendly atmosphere, smiles, and music are free!!

dscn1351

Word of mouth…don’t you love it?  Andrew took Brenda, who back in October told me.  Now I am passing the word on to you.  Plenty of places to eat in South Florida.  Everyone knows that.  Some of them, stand out. And, this is one of them.

Talia’s Tuscan Table is located at 4070 N. Dixie Hwy., Boca Raton, Florida.  Tel. 561-362-0874.  Website?  http://www.taliastable.com.  You can also check it on Facebook, where you can see other commentaries and check what specials they are offering.  Talia’s opens at 11:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Closed on Sundays.

dscn1349

I drove south from Delray on Federal Highway, took a right on Spanish River and then a right on Dixie.  The restaurant is in a small strip shopping center, right as you make the right turn. You cannot miss it.

dscn1357

Like I was saying…the music was playing and you could tell the customers were regulars; the usual suspects.  I decided to talk to some of them and you could tell they meant it when they said the food was delicious.

dscn1344

Frankie said…have a menu, you don’t have to look at the walls.  There were menus on the walls.  Frankie is a part owner, Danny is the other owner.

dscn1354

I asked Frankie…if this is a customer’s first time…what would you recommend?  What would be the dish that will hook you?  No hesitation there.  The Bronx Bomber and the Michelanglo he said.  Bring it on, that’s what I want, I said.

Talia’s is a restaurant that is very casual, you can dine in, sit on either table outside, or take out, like I did.

The music got a little louder and Frankie was smiling…Nice!

OMG, a sandwich was coming out of the kitchen.  It was called the Galileo Cheese Steak with roast beef, cheddar, onion, lettuce, tomato and Russian dressing.  If mine were that huge I was going to be in trouble.  Calories out the window, for sure.

dscn1358

Have some bread, Frankie said as he place a place full of garlic ciabatta bread with a wonderful smell and so warm.

dscn1352

How about some mozzarella?  They make their own.  Put it on the bread.  I obliged.

dscn1346

dscn1353

Next sandwich coming out of the kitchen was the Fermi.  Portabella, roasted peppers, tuscan beans and organic lettuce.  It was the only sandwich on the menu that said it contained 195 calories.  I was not counting calories, that’s for sure.

dscn1345

The customers let me take the pictures.  You could tell they really loved Talia’s.  Some of them were known by their first names.

A Citrus Seafood Salad came out of the kitchen…looked very nice!!

dscn1359

Frankie said…do you like cannolis….is the Pope Catholic?  Two cannolis to go on the house.  Drink on the house, as well.

dscn1374

My bag carrying the sandwiches was heavy with 2 hefty sandwiches.  They said “adios” and off I went.

Each of the sandwiches could have, definitely, fed 2 people.  They were truly amazing.  Here is what they were:

The Michelanglo with herb chicken cutlet, eggplant, mozzarella and roasted peppers.  The chicken cutlet was thin and perfectly breaded, a perfect pair to the rest of the ingredients.

dscn1363

dscn1364

Frankie had asked me if I liked hot peppers….bring it on.  The next one was the Bronx Bomber.  This one had salami, capicolla, mortadella, ham, provolone and hot peppers.  Another winner!!  Very very Nice!!

dscn1372

Please note that wine and beer are available at Talia’s.

Thanks to Frankie for his suggestions and to Brenda for showing me the way.

Have a good one!!

Greenman Juice Bar & Bistro, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Organic, Gourmet, Restaurant, Review, Delaware Beaches

407

Always looking for a place to have something to eat; a unique place with a different ambiance.  Debbie and I got together before I left to come to Florida to sort of catch up like good friends always like to do.  I was surprised when she told me that she had never been to Greenman Juice Bar & Bistro; afterall, even though she is not a native, she practically could be.

Greenman is located at 12 Wilmington Ave., about one block from the beach.  Tel. is 302-227-4909.  No website, but if you are on Facebook, you can become their friend and check out what’s going on at this very popular local spot.

Late breakfast, early lunch that was about the time we got there.  A little quiet but that quickly changed.  The restaurant is definitely small, but you would not want it any other way.  Tables are available and in good weather you can also sit out on their porch.  Just sit yourself and someone will come to your table quickly.  A board behind their counter will show some of their teas, smoothies, and organic drinks that are available.

405

For such a small restaurant they offer a wide variety of foods; gourmet sandwiches, soups, quiches, salads, and burgers, among other things on the menu.

On that particular day Debbie had the daily quiche.  Nice size and she said that it was very good.

403

I had a panini breakfast sandwich with cheese.  The eggs were light and the cheese in it did not overpower the panini.

404

Then, our eyes followed the waiter to the next table.  You could not help to stare.  We were in close proximity.  What was that?  It was huge.  Well, it was their homemade Pumpkin Creme Brulee French Toast.  I just could not help myself and asked the gentleman before he plunged his fork into this amazing French toast if I could take a picture for my blog.  He happily agreed.

406

We drank coffee and tea and enjoyed our company.  I always find that my relationships with my friends are priceless and sharing a meal with them is just the best.  Lucky, actually is how I feel.

A few days later I decided to take my son Michael for lunch at Greenman.  Just like Debbie, he had never been.  I knew he would fall in love with it, which he did.  He then just took Erica yesterday as snow was falling in Rehoboth Beach.  She loved it just as much.  It reminded them of the undergraduate years just left behind in Boulder, Colorado.  Greenman could have fit in Boulder perfectly.

Please remember that Greenman is open from Thursdays to Mondays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. through the New Year.  They also have take out and are still taking orders for holiday baked goods.

Have a great week-end…….talk to you later…
