Confucius, Restaurant, Review,Chinese Food, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches

Confucius was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher….But in Rehoboth Beach it is a very good Chinese restaurant. Not all Chinese restaurants are the same. This one stands above others.

Shawn and Danielle have owned Confucius for almost 20 years. They are the perfect host and hostess. I remember years ago watching their son doing his homework in the back. That young man is in college now.

Confucius is located on 57 Wilmington Ave. right in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. 302-227-3848.

I have my favorite dishes. My go to ones. So, I always order a whole fish. No, don’t wrinkle your nose until you try it. I am like a cat eating a fish? I dig into the fish like I dig into my crabs.

The Whole Black Sea Bass is intimidating, but trust me it is so good. You don’t have to look at the eyes. Once you take that first bite you will say Oh now I know what she was talking about.

Their green beans are to die for. You wonder why would I order green beans? Simple, they are that good.

An appetizer of Salt & Pepper Shrimp should not be missed. Crispy and you should try them or someone in your table should. But they may not want to share.

General Tso’s Chicken was ordered and I can attest it was very good. It can be a shareable dish for the table. There are many stories about the history of this dish. Check it out.

Their duck spring rolls were nice as a starter sipping wine waiting for the salt and pepper shrimp?

As you can tell I really enjoy Confucius. Their food and service is consistent and when I leave I think of how I cannot wait to come back.

AboutMyBeaches is on Facebook and Instagram. Check me out.

Enjoy the Season.

“Enough is enough, the kitchen has closed.”  Some of you might on that mode today after planning, shopping, wrapping, drinking, cooking, cleaning…and then, to start all over again, today?  Okay…if you are saying “I don’t think so”, then you are lucky if you are in Rehoboth Beach because two restaurants are opening today.

Confucius is a Chinese restaurant located at 57 Wilimington Ave.  Tel. 302-227-3848.  Website www.confuciusrehobothbeach.com.  It is one of my favorites and they will be opening all day starting at 11 a.m.

The other restaurant which will open for dinner is Summer House.  It is a sister restaurant to Big Fish Grill and an institution at the Delaware Beaches.

Bar Specials from 4  – 8 p.m.

Dinner will be from 4 – 8 p.m.

Football Menu from 8 p.m. until closing

Summer House is located at 228 Rehoboth Ave.  Tel. 302-227-3895.  Website?  http://www.summerhousesaloon.com

And, if by any chance you have forgotten anything at the grocery store, God forbid, Safeway located on Rt. One at 19238 Coastal Highway will be opening from 8 until 4 p.m.

Giant, located on Long Neck on Rt. 24 will also be open today.

Wu’s Kitchen, Chinese & Japanese Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, Review, Delaware Beaches

I woke up this morning and said “I am not sure if I liked that Chinese food last night”.  The answer came back from the peanut gallery “Well, you sure ate enough of it.”  Do I dare tell you who this came from?  Of course; my husband, you know the picky one, who actually did not have any because of his gluten allergy.  I wished him a very good morning, if you get my drift.

About 2 months ago Wu’s Kitchen opened at 19324 Lighthouse Plaza Blvd., in the Lighthouse Shopping Center, where one of my favorite grocery stores, Giant, is located.  Also  Jay’s Wayback Burgers and Casapulla’s are in that shopping center, as well.  Their telephone:  302-226-1788 and 302-226-1778.  They open 7 days a week.  Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Right after they opened 3 of us went.  I was having trouble communicating regarding the gluten allergy so I just ordered something that I thought would be gluten free.  I did one of those when your voice gets a little louder thinking that they might be able to understand you.  It was crazy.

Fast forward another month.  Last night I made chiles rellenos for my husband.  I just did not feel like eating that so decided to take a trip to Wu’s Kitchen.  It was late so nobody was there at that time.  I ordered more than I needed to in order to write a post. Yeah, sure.

dscn0936

An order of Fried Wonton – Very crispy and I liked them.

dscn0942

Number 66 was Double Cooked Pork – I, actually, did not like this one too much.  I thought I was ordering something else.  The pork was a little dry even though it was mixed with the vegetables and sauce.

dscn0938

Number 16 was part of their Szechuan & Hunan Dishes – Orange Chicken.  It was good and the orange rind and flavor was distinctive.

dscn0939

My fortune cookies did not say anything exciting.  No number combinations or anything like that.  Just “Declare Peace Every Day”. I do that all the time, anyway.  Maybe that was it!!

dscn0943

Wu’s Kitchen was immaculate.  The restaurant has booths and single tables.  Or, like most people, you can take out.

They have specials too.  Mondays through Saturdays, until 3 p.m., for $6 you can have 3 choices from their buffet, a soda, and a choice of white rice, brown rice, or fried rice.  Pretty good deal.

Please note that when I write about a restaurant, you have to take into consideration that this is my personal experience.  We all have different tastes and expectations….I visit the same restaurants often…small restaurants, dives, a hot dog stand, or a “cuchifrin” as they would say in Puerto Rico….looking for that exceptional bite…have a great day!!

Why don’t you try it and let me know?

All the cravings I get during the week for particular foods, Chinese is also one of them.  The other day went to Confucius, which I have blogged plenty of times.  It is located on 57 Wilmington Ave., tel. 302-227-3848.  Website is www.confuciusrehobothbeach.com.

It was quiet, so they made me a dish that they used to make when they had a restaurant in Wilmington.  Seasoned Beef, I believe it was called.  It was good, with a slight kick of heat and a light sauce.

IMG_2200

Frog legs were also ordered.  I am not crazy about them.  I don’t like the look of them; my opinion. I have not tried them and I can usually try anything.

IMG_2196

Also the salt and pepper shrimp were ordered, as well.  The shredded peppers were spicy; just enough.

IMG_2198

The sauteed green beans are a must at Confucius.  They have tiny shrimp and a bit of soy sauce; just gives them a special flavor.  Cooked al dente, they are great.

IMG_2199

An uneventful evening; relaxing.

Have a good Friday…see you…

P.S.  Remember that AboutMyBeaches is also on Facebook.  You can “like” me if you want.  On Twitter, as well.
