The Lilypad, Children’s Boutique, Clothing, Gifts, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, New Proprietors

I wrote about The Lilypad last summer.  At the time Gayle was working at the store.  Lilypad was owned by a friend.  Gayle is a retired teacher and thought working a few days would keep her occupied.  Then, I was so surprised when she told me that she and her daughter, Paige, had bought the business.  So, the other day I decided to stop by and see how they were doing.

The Lilypad is located at the Village-By-The-Sea Shops at 149 Rehoboth Ave.  Tel. 302-227-4464.  The e-mail address is LilypadRehoboth@yahoo.com.  You can find The Lilypad Children’s Boutique on Facebook.

Every time I turn around I find that one of my friends is having a grandchild.  I hope they read this post so they can start spoiling those little ones.

Gayle and Paige have rearranged the store a bit and it really looks good; not cluttered.  So many cute things.

The Boys on one side and the Girls on the other.  In between you will find lots of gifts like puzzles, stuffed animals, bows, charms and bracelets, and clothing for newborns.  The store is well known for its assortment of Christening gowns.  They were all protected and in plastic so I did not take any pictures.  Best you call them for more info. or send them an e-mail.

A few brands caught my attention.  See Kai Run, for example.  This is a line of shoes that meet the American Podiatric Medical Association’s rigurous standards.  It is family owned and operated with their business in Seattle, Washington.  In stores since 2004 they are now sold in major retail stores and unique children’s shops.

Another brand was Daily Tea Clothing.  Very popular.  Started in San Francisco in 2002.  The line evokes vintage beach days.  They now also have a line for women, as well.

In a basket and on the counter I spotted nail polish.  It was by a company called Piggy Paint.  Great colors and completely natural; non-toxic, odorless, and kid friendly.

Murder on the Beach Mystery Bookstore, Delray Beach, Florida, Mystery Books, Entertainment, Booksignings, Palm Beach County

“A good book should leave you…..slightly exhausted at the end.  You live several lives while reading it.”    william styron

I arrived at the Murder on the Beach Mystery Bookstore because it had been some time since I paid them a visit.  From time to time I put what’s going on in Delray and usually include this unique mystery bookstore’s events.  I wanted to also take some pictures.  There is nothing better than to have a visual idea of what I am talking about.  I think it creates interest; I hope so, anyway.

They are located at 273 NE 2nd Ave., Pineapple Grove Way, Delray Beach, FL 33444.  Tel. 561-279-7790, toll free 800-956-7770.  Website is www.murderonthebeach.com. Winter hours are Mon – Sat from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sun from 12 until 5 p.m.  Please note they will be closed New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Pineapple Grove is pretty much an extension of Atlantic Ave., known as the Arts District.  It looked so good; the stores have been leased, the condominiums are full of people and those outdoor seatings are there to be enjoyed, if you like to dine al fresco, as much as I do.

Murder on the Beach is such a quaint and delightful bookstore.  You feel like you are in a library; in the comfort of your own home.  Chairs to sit and review books, a counter with all kinds of information and schedule of events.

Joanne is the owner and I hope that Jean is the other person working the store that helped me so much on that day.  She was so gracious and I bought 2 of her suggestions, which I have not read yet but dying to start.

Murder on the Beach is definitely a mystery bookstore, specializing in Florida authors, but they also have romance, true crime, thrillers, horror and children’s books.

The State of Florida, I believe, is one of the states with the most mystery writers in residence.

I introduced myself to Joanne and requested to see the “board of bloody prints”.  An author who is signing at Murder on the Beach is asked to leave a bloody palm print, his or her signature, and a quote.

Joanne is also the Director of the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association (IMBA).  It is known as an organization of mystery booksellers who together have common interests and issues.  For more information, please visit www.mysterybooksellers.com and check out what they are all about.  They “connect criminally inclined readers with arresting mysteries”.

Murder on the Beach can ship books all over the world and if by chance you are not able to attend an event and have a specific book in mind, please do give them a call because they would be most happy to help you.

On Friday, January 7th, Tami Hoag will be signing her newest book, Secrets to the Grave at 7 p.m.

Entertainment?  What is it?  A Murder Mystery Party in your home, hotel, restaurant, condo or you pick your favorite place.  Size?  Well, you decide but they have done conferences and conventions for up to 500 peoople.  Also small parties for a few.

IMG_0940

It is an audience interactive murder mystery party.  The actors are professionals; performances will be tailored to your group.  For more info., please get in touch with Joanne at the above mentioned telephone number.

I always carry a book in my bag.  I guess is part of a habit acquired as I waited in pick up lines at schools for so many years; a companion of sorts.

I love it…talk to you later….you know I will…

Barefoot Baby Boutique…Princess Anne, Maryland…Delaware Beaches…Ocean City, Maryland…

 100_0049

This little piggy went to market; this little piggy stayed home; this little piggy had a bit of meat; and, this little piggy had none.

I can almost hear my children’s laughter so many years ago when this nursery rhyme was repeated time and time again.100_0040

This is the feeling I got when I stepped into Barefot Baby Boutique, 11779 Somerset Ave., Princess Anne, MD 21853.  This is one of the shops inside the newly restored historic Independence Hall Building, in the center of this charming town.  I wrote a post about it last Sunday so you can check that out.  No sense in repeating myself.  The telepone is 410-621-5398.  The website is www.barefootbabyboutique.com.  The e-mail address is info@barefootbabyboutique.com.  You can also find them in Facebook.  Hours are: Mondays and Tuesdays, by appt. only.  Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10-6 and Saturdays 10-3.100_0043

The store is owned by Martha Ogburn, RN, MS.  For many years she was a neonatal nurse.  She is an educator, an author and a family child specialist.  In making her decision to take this new venture, she took into consideration that she was aware, more than the average person, of the concerns that new mothers may have.  She is more than happy to share her resources, so please visit the website for this information.100_0044

Barefoot Baby Boutique celebrates, as everyone should, the birth of a new child.  It is a commemoration of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

For that young person in your life, Martha, has been able to bring into her store a wonderland of toys, unique hangers, and books.100_0051100_0041

The gifts are special; one and only.  The picture books are so beautiful and she carries affordable designer cribs.100_0048

In looking through her shop I could not help to stare at the delivery dress; never seen one.  It is a dress that is more stylish and it is worn during the delivery.  It is low in the back, in order to easily reach in case you need an epidural.  I mentioned that to a friend and she said she could have cared less what she was wearing with all the pain she was going through.  We all have had different experiences, don’t you think?100_0047100_0046

Did you know that you can recycle your wedding dress and make it nto a Christening gown?  Well, Barefoot Baby Boutique can help you do that.  Just like they can help you with baby classes for new and expectant mothers, as well as seminars and events.  Again, all that is in their website.  They have so much information including on-line shopping and baby registry awards.  If you spend $150 on your registry items then you will receive 20 Baby Bucks, redeemable for store merchandise.  They even have a Barefoot Baby Blog.100_0050

This store is so much fun.  It is a happy store.  Martha was great and so friendly.  I felt like I had known her for a long time.

Have a good one…..
