It is a gorgeous day at the Delaware Beaches and pretty soon the Downtown Rehoboth Beach will be celebrating another festival week-end!!
Plenty of places to stop for coffee in Rehoboth Beach, but Cafe A Go-Go, located in the heart of Downtown Rehoboth Beach at 102 Rehoboth Avenue has amazing coffee. Served with a smile by Jesus and Maria Ramirez; you are really going to be impressed with their coffee. Tel. 302-227-1099.
Cafe A Go-Go has been a fixture in Rehoboth for so many years now. It is comfortable, spotless, and a great place to hang out in the morning, not just to have coffee but to also have something to eat.
They serve bagels, bagel sandwiches, wraps and other goodies for easy eating at the beach.
Their Mexican Mocha can turn out to be my daily addiction. Stop by and try it!!
Jesus and Maria also serve green tea smoothies, and they do have gluten free oatmeal!!
Have a great time at the beach….Jesus and Maria also speak Spanish in case you want to practice you language.

I know it has not been one of the perfect week-ends at the Delaware Beaches. We are not the only ones experiencing grey skies, and rain. Starting your vacation this way, well, I feel your pain. I have been there too.
So, are your kids driving you insane, on “your” vacation? The Delaware Beaches are geared to the outdoors, but it will get better. In the meantime a visit to the Fractured Prune located at 20214 Coastal Highway, might help you this a.m. Who doesn’t like hot hand dipped donuts? These are perfect. Just the right size too.
The Fractured Prune is an independently owned and operated franchise that started back in the day….1970s in Ocean City, Maryland. I have only visited the one in Rehoboth Beach and I don’t visit it often because these doughnuts can become your daily addiction. They also have breakfast sandwiches, good coffee and it is a great place to start your day. Also, very important, they have plenty of parking. http://www.fracturedprune.com. Tel. 302-227-0747.
You can create your doughnuts. They are homemade, including the toppings. The glazes are light. Once you have decided what you want your doughnuts will go into the fryer. It won’t take long.
The whole process can be seen from the counter.
My favorite? The Sand Doughnut…hot with a light honey glaze and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar…Yum!! Great flavor and texture.
Have a great day!

Finally, a gorgeous week-end. So, looking for a place to have breakfast on Memorial Week-End was going to be tough. I don’t like waiting in line.
Jody and I found the perfect place….we wanted to sit outside. After the winter weather, when it is sunny and hot at the Delaware Beaches, that’s what you want to do. We found it!!
Victoria’s Reaurant is located inside the Boardwalk Plaza at 2 Olive Avenue & The Boardwalk in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. The key word here is Boardwalk. Tel. 302-227-7169. Website? http://www.boardwalkplaza.com/victorias-restaurant.
At Boardwalk is where you want to sit…forget the inside.
Jody and I walked the beautiful Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, passing the lifeguards who had finished their morning exercises.
Our service was prompt. Love it when warm blueberry sweet breads were presented with our coffee.
My Grilled Portobello Benedict which grilled protobello caps were topped with scrambled egg white and Canadian bacon, drizzled with pesto sauce and served with a side order of fruit salad, really was perfect.
Jody’s Spinach Mushroom and Quinoa Frittata also was delicious….and healthy. It was made with fresh spinach, quinoa, chopped portobello mushrooms, parmesan and ricotta, served with seasonal fruits.
When you are at the beach, you want to enjoy the outdoors and on a beautiful day…..it was priceless!!

Bonjour! I have a friend that says that I have quite an imagination, calling it “A Slice of France In Southern Delaware”. Well, crepes are the street foods of France. These thin pancakes come from the Latin word “crispa”, which means curled. They are quite diverse; eat them at street stalls or in fine dining; enjoy as an entree or as a dessert. In Rehoboth Beach, you can sit outside and enjoy this authentic French Cafe.
Here, in Rehoboth Beach you will find Cafe Papillon, located on the ocean block, in the Penny Lane Mall, which can be accessed by parking either on Rehoboth Avenue or Wilmington Avenue. The address is: Penny Lane Mall, 42 Rehoboth Avenue. Tel. 302-227-7568. Website? http://www.cafepapillon.com. It is open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Cash only, please.
Cafe Papillon is owned by a mother and daughter team, Penny and Maya, since 1994, but Cafe Papillon has been in Rehoboth Beach for 30 years. You can also practice your French since they all speak it. French students come every year for the summer season and help them run it.
You can buy French baked goods, sandwiches made with your choice of croissant or French baguette, and very good coffee, as well.
Jerome was cooking the crepes…he is always there. They are made from scratch. Jody and I showed up and there was a line already. Jerome is your typical French, but Jody engaged him in some conversation and little smile here or there, while I was taking pictures.
We both ordered our crepes. I believe Jody’s had ham and cheese. Mine had egg, smoked salmon, cheese, tomato and chives. The common ingredients found in crepes are flour, eggs, milk, butter and a pinch of salt.
So, first the batter is spread on the hot plate.
Then, the egg came along.
Followed by cheese.
Smoked salmon was next.
Tomato was the last addition.
Jerome gently fold it…a garnish of lemon.
And to my outdoor table to enjoy it with a really good cup of cafe mocha. Voila!
Having breakfast with a friend at the start of Memorial Week-End and Summer of 2013!! Priceless!
Where to eat in Rehoboth Beach? Plenty of places to eat, being that Rehoboth Beach is a dining and vacationing destination in Southern Delaware. The town is looking great, expecting a very good 2013 Season!
We all have our favorite places to eat….GreenMan Juice Bar & Bistro is located on 12 Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, on the ocean block. It is in one of those quaint cottages that abound in Rehoboth and define this coastal town.
You can find GreenMan on Facebook. Tel. 302-227-4909. They are open for breakfast and lunch Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. They will be expanding the hours once the season gets going. Take-out available. Website? http://www.greenmanjuicebar.com
If the weather is warm try to sit on the porch; inside is just as comfortable.
My friend, Jody, and I started with a beverage. Me? A frothy capuccino.
There is so much to try at this popular restaurant in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. I keep saying that one of these days that French Toast is going to be mine. On Friday…well, we are trying to watch our figures, Jody and I had something simple.
She had the Homemade Quiche of the Day, the Quiche du Jour, made with organic free range eggs and organic fresh veggies. Organic greens and sesonal fruits on the side.
I decided on the GreenMan Tofu Scramble in a Wrap. Organic vegetables, sauteed with tofu and hearty red potatoes served with fresh tomato salsa in a whole wheat wrap. A little hot sauce on the side to spice things up.
We chatted a bit…and that was it….then, it was off to Morgan & Gower….Friday was National Cheese Day!!
I was looking for the perfect place to have breakfast on my birthday on Friday. It was not such a hot morning at the Delaware Beaches; right after the storms, still a little rainy. It was quiet in Downtown Rehoboth Beach. I found the perfect place.
Robin Hood Restaurant is located at 54 Rehoboth Avenue; the ocean block. Tel. 302-227-0770. At the present time, it serves breakfast until 3 p.m., with lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. Once the gates open in Rehoboth Beach and the season is at its best, Robin Hood will also offer dinner.
The restaurant is owned by Niki and Kosta Tsoukalas…..I asked if I could take pictures. Niki said that Kosta could take my picture next to Robin Hood. Oh no….I really just wanted Robin’s picture. Talking to Niki and Kosta for those few minutes gave me the sense of what this restaurant is all about. Comfortable, good food, reasonable, served by a very friendly staff.
Robin Hood is immaculate. Plenty of seating choices; tables or booths.
The first thing I saw on the menu was scrapple….gotta have it!! I ordered it crispy….Michael and I decided that it was the best scrapple served at a restaurant at the Delaware Beaches.
Then I ordered the Greek omelette, which was moist with just the right amount of feta and tomatoes…hold the bread, but give me the potatoes. Very good.
Michael loves eggs benedict and I knew he would give me an honest review. He loved them.
So, the next time you are visiting Rehoboth Beach, and are hungry, don’t just walk by…stop!! It will be good.
