In 2012, Delray Beach, Florida was voted “Most Fun Small Town in America”.  That title carries a lot of weight….so many towns offer its visitors unique ways to vacation.  Delray Beach has the whole package.  It is a very walkable town.  Gorgeous beaches, shopping, dining…a true vacation destination.

Out & About in…Delray Beach, Florida, Village by the Sea, Palm Beach County

dscn3669

Today was even better than yesterday; one awesome day.  And, also the perfect day to meet someone new.  I knew her from Facebook, our sons are good friends, but we just had never met.  Boston’s would be the place, right by the beach.

Boston’s is an institution in Delray Beach.  It is located at 40 S. Ocean Blvd.  Tel. 561-2778-3364.  Website?  www.bostonsonthebeach.com.

First thing I noticed was that the Tiki Bar is up and running.  It is called The Sandbar.  Apparently not too much to eat; plenty to drink, though.  Sit outdoors or at the bar under the tiki hut.

dscn3667

Waiting for Chris I noticed those “golf carts” again.  These guys were game for a Nikon moment.  Okay, it is called Delray Downtowner.  Free rides on demand!! Anywhere in the downtown area and neighborhoods in Delray Beach.  Wave them down or call them up at 561-702-8519.  Visit their website, www.delraydowntowner.com.

dscn3670

Hugs for a new friend and right on the sidewalk was the perfect table to catch up.  We talked and talked and ate our salads.

I had a steak salad, which was very good.

dscn3674

It is funny because as much as I usually talk about food, this time was pretty much about us, 2 new friends getting acquainted.

Chris reminded me of my friend Shelley.  She asked for her chicken salad, but hold the olives, substitute the cheeses, etc. etc.  Funny!!  She was also pretty happy with her salad.

dscn3673

After a few hours, we had to go.  But, we will meet again.

Note:  Chris’ business is Elegant Orchid Arrangements.  She specializes in customized floral arrangements.  You can call her at 561-654-4605 or 561-330-2974.  E-mail her with questions to Orchid11251@aol.com.

It really was a gorgeous day.  A totally blue sky. Where was all that noise coming from?  There she was.  One of those Florida green parrots.

dscn3677

Great afternoon…talk to you later.

What’s Going On? Delray Beach, Florida, Activities, Events, Arts & Entertainment, The Village by the Sea is a Destination, South Florida, Palm Beach County

dscn2676

It really does become a destination; so many things going on in downtown Delray Beach.  So let’s not waste any time and get on with the show.

Thursday, 4/12 – By the time you read this you will probably know that Delray Beach has welcomed its new restauranteur, Zach Erdem.  75 Main Delray has opened and its location is 270 East Atlantic Ave.  The new restaurant will be serving brunch from 10:30 – 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., daily.  Tel. 561-243-7975.  Website? www.75main.com.

Delray Beach was chosen by Mr. Erdem for his second restaurant because this Village by The Sea is a vibrant coastal community and a destination in itself.  The sister restaurant, 75 Main is located in Southampton, NY.

75 Main Delray is a restaurant and a lounge.  The cuisine? Contemporary American Cuisine with Mediterranean accents.  The “sleek lounge with a sexy vibe” will feature European DJs spinning a blend of house music from 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.  And…the signature drink?  The 75 Maintini, which will change with the season…Spring brings Stoli Elite and Passion Fruit Juice.

I know Delray Beach has discriminating palates; the town is known for its restaurants.  Can’t wait to try it.
