When visitors come to the beach, one of the attractions is the fact that we have a pretty relaxed lifestyle. Basic Concepts have stayed true to that idea and carries brands and accessories that show off that you can wear casual clothing and still look very good.

An institution!!! If you have survived the ups and downs of the economy for 37 years anywhere, you know you are offering your customers something that keeps them coming back. That’s how I feel about Basic Concepts, located at 149 Rehoboth Avenue at the Village-by-The-Sea Shops in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Tel. 302-227-8688.
Our lifestyle at the Delaware Beaches is casual and relaxed. You can wear clothing during the day, add a little accessory or two and you are good to go to the restaurants, bars, and music venues. Rehoboth Beach is a destination for dining, and shopping, as well. In Downtown Rehoboth Beach, the shopkeepers are friendly and you can walk from one store to another with ease, especially, this time of the year.
Last year I bought an easy to wear jacket from Basic Concepts by a California company called Focus. Every time I wear it, people notice and pay me compliments. Wanting to continue on that trend, I decided to stop by and visit Patty Watson, the owner and operator of Basic Concepts. She had new colors and styles….she was also decorating for the Holidays. Basic Concepts opens every day.

I love Before + Again tees….they are made in the U.S. They wear so well; throw them in the wash, then the dryer and they look like brand new.

Today, was one of those awesome days in Rehoboth Beach. After the crazy weather we have been having, we deserve these gorgeous days as the “official” summer season comes to an end. No humidity, 81 degrees….really pretty at the beach.
As I was walking in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, I saw a familiar face; one of those shopkeepers that make Rehoboth Beach a shopping destination. The Downtown shops are personal and easygoing. Meet Patty Watson. Stop by and say hello.

Our casual lifestyle at the beach is what a lot of visitors seek. At this time of the year the merchandise has changed. The fall season is upon us and you will find sweaters, scarves, pants, cover-us and accessories, as well.
A customer was trying a few things on…of course, we had to give her advice…looks great…well, the black is dressier, I love the other one…and on and on. Her husband was the perfect husband. He was encouraging to get a couple of more things. Here she is modeling one of her purchases.
I know that it is still August, but there is a feel for September in the air. Here are some of the other great finds you will find at Basic Concepts.

Oh, I have a feeling that I am going to get into trouble for calling Basic Concepts “An Institution”. You see, I know Patti Watson, the proprietor of this shop that is going into its 35th season in Rehoboth Beach. Now, you tell, me if this is not an institution. This store has weathered the ups and downs of our economy through the years, and in my book Basic Concepts should be congratulated just for that effort.

I stopped by and was chatting with Patti and right at that moment I thought about writing a post for my blog.
Basic concepts carries two main lines of clothing. Fresh Produce and Focus from California.
Fresh Produce has been around for a long time. Lots of new bright colors for the season. Cute tee-shirts, little skirts, blouses and dresses. They are perfect for the way we live here at the beach.
Throw earrings, a necklace, a bracelet and you have an outfit.
Basic Concepts has hats; a must at the beach, as well.
The brand Focus has also cute jackets, shirts, sweaters and dresses. Even during the summer evenings there are cool nights. She had some great colors.
Last year I mentioned how nice it is to walk around Rehoboth Beach and see the familiar faces of those shopkeepers that make this town. They are friendly, caring, and I really enjoy them.
