There is definitely a schedule, but when I see the banner I know that the Artists are in the Park. And, this is one of those week-ends. Right on Veterans Park, by the Intracoastal you will see the white tents.
It is going to be a crowded Saturday in Delray so get there early and stay awhile.
Artists in the Park have been in the community for over 46 years. Susan sent me an e-mail and told me that their Larry Marini Art Education Fund has donated back to the community so that students may have the opportunity to experience the arts through scholarships and supplies. Artists in the Park have donated to Old School Square, Milagro Center, Atlantic High School, Sister Cities, FAU, Delray Beach Library, Plumosa School of the Arts and so many others.
It is South Florida’s longest running outdoor fine art show and sale. You will find a variety of mediums; watercolors, oils, acrylics, photography, and sculpture.
It is free and it starts at 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

The Rehoboth Art League and its location is the perfect setting for an outdoor art and craft. This week-end and next week-end is the Rehoboth Art Leagues’s 38th Annual Outdoor fine Art & Craft Show in Rehoboth.
My friend, Gayle, and made our appearance early. It was so nice walking throught it all. We picked our favorite exhibitors and we also wished they would have had more crafts. The art show is bursting with paintings; more so than crafts.
These were some of my favorite exhibitors:
Anita Peghini-Raber – She has made Rehoboth Beach her home. Naturalistic Expressionism. You can visit her website www.rehobothart.com and see what she is all about.
Another exhibitor that caught my attention was the jewelry made by Astrid Peterson. She had some unique designs with semi precious stones. I noticed how she worked with her customers; friendly, taking time to explain the stones and the process of jewelry making. Her website? www.astridpetersonjewelry.com.
We decided to get some iced tea at The Point Coffee House, which had its owns special corner, serving some delicious and tempting goodies. Their website is www.thepointcoffee.com. Can’t wait to visit them in Rehoboth Beach.
A potter was immersed in his craft with an audience of young children.
We came across The Happyrock Pottery. The potter is Susan Gladstone. Her studio is at Celebration Mall, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. You can e-mail Susan at thehappyrock@earthlink.net.
Gayle and I were so impressed with her work. Her colors were gorgeous and the pottery was just the right size. Her prices were very reasonable, as well.
This art and craft show will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Next week-end, 8/20 and 8/21 the schedule will be as follows: Saturday at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Admission fee is $5.00.
Please note that you are not to park on the road; park on the lawns. I know what I am talking about because I got a $50 ticket today for that same reason.
This is exactly what I needed. A balance.

The historic town of Lewes is going to be offering its visitors a great week-end. It will be full of activities for everyone. And, if you just want to kick back and relax, then do so because Lewes offers everything you could want and more; shopping, restaurants, music; it is a well-rounded town.

Saturday, 7/2 – At the Villages of Five Points – Live Concert with the Funsters performing from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Get your chair, blanket, friends, neighbors and bug spray. Monday, 7/4 – The Infamous Lewes Doo-Dah Parade!! Casual and fun. Join or watch. The Doo-Dah Parade takes off on the streets of Charming and Historic Lewes. No registration!! Just for fun, come as you are.
Parade Rt: Manila Ave., King’s Highway, Savannah Rd, 2nd Street, Market Street and 3rd Street.
Tuesday, 7/5 – Dolphin Watch at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. It is a family program. Age Group? 7 and up. Register by calling 302-645-6852. Cost? $2. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tuesday, 7/5 – Hayrides at the Beach, at Cape Henlopen State Park at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. It is a 45-50 minute trip that starts at the campground and takes participants on the ocean beach to see the wonders of Cape Henlopen. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday in the morning at the Seaside Nature Center, inside the Park, on a first come, first served basis. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. $5 More infor? Tuesday, 7/5 – Concert at Stango Park, on King’s Highway, behind the Lewes Library. This is an outdoor concert series. The Chesapeake Brass Band will be the entertainers for the evening. These are amateurs and professionals; all volunteers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. The band performs a varied repertoire of contemporary and traditional brass band music.

Historic Lewes is full of activities as they celebrate the 4th of July.
Saturday, 7/3 – St. Peter’s 44th Annual Art Show – Art that Gives.
This is a summertime highlight at the Delaware Beaches since 1966. It draws 140 fine artists and craftspeople from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
This event takes place in right in town, on Second St. which is the main street in Lewes. It is open to the public and free. Rain or shine, please attend.

Sunday, July 4th – Old Fashioned 4th of July – 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Second Street in Lewes.
9:00 a.m. – Old Fashioned Kids Games begin on Second St.
2:00 p.m. – Decorated Boat Parade on the Canal from the Inlet to the Drawbridge and return.
5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – It’s the Annual Lewes Doo-Dah Parade in town in Historic Lewes. This is a very casual and informal parade, so if you are visiting and would like to participate just show up.
