Delaware Charitable Music, Inc. (DCM) has finalized the sizzling lineup for Fall Into Jazz III, the organization’s annual music event, which will occur this coming Saturday, September 8th, beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Center for the Arts. Headlining this event will be the sensational saxophonist Jessy J. With her sizzling mix of hot beats, Latin and samba rhythms, instantly captivating melodies and model looks, Jessy J has received high critical acclaim from internationally respected Jazz publications and aficionados across the board. Fueled by sultry saxophone playing, her potent and unmistakable talent proves her much more than just another pretty face. Never is this more perceptible than on her new album “Hot Sauce” which offers an extraordinary and seemingly effortless mix of Latin influences and mainstream Jazz. She has worked diligently to achieve recognition for her finely honed chops, songwriting skills and a strong sense of originality.
Born in Portland, Oregon, she’s played the saxophone for over 20 years. An accomplished singer and dancer, she sang background vocals for Michael Bolton, played with the Henry Mancini Jazz Orchestra and performed in the off-Broadway production of Blast! She has also completed studio work with such greats as Michael Buble, Seal, the Temptations, Jessica Simpson, Michael Bolton, and Mexico’s pop diva Gloria Trevi.
Rounding this event is the return of the remarkable Kim Waters, one of the top five jazz instrumentalists in the world. His repertoire includes traditional and contemporary jazz, soul and R & B. With a string of #1 Smooth Jazz radio hits and 20 years at the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts, saxophonist Kim Waters is adored by his legions of fans.
A true Smooth Jazz superstar, Waters thrives on live performance and he appreciatively gives his captive audience his musical all. According to the Washington Post, “Waters has a flair for composing seductive melodies. He is like a romantic pied piper out on a long evening stroll”. Heralded as “simply one of the planet’s best saxophonist” by Jazz Times Magazine, Kim Waters has built an impressive and enviable career giving his fans what they want.
Recognizing the impact of the economy on arts programming in public schools, DCM has committed its efforts to the support of quality music education and performance through the production of events that attempt to preserve American music traditions. It is a mission of Delaware Charitable Music to create opportunities for young musicians to interact with each other and to be able to work with and observe music professionals in order to provide continuity between the generations and to be able to pass on musical traditions.
