Better Late than Never…Events are still going on at the Delaware Beaches…

 

Thanks so much to all the Veterans for their service to our country.

Following are the events that are about to happen at my beaches:

 

Lewes

At the Cape Henlopen State Park: Remember that until Nov. 30th there is an entry fee collected at the Park.

Saturday, November 14th – Birdseed and Book Sale – At the Seaside Nature Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Advance birdseed order forms are available at the park office, nature center, www.friendsofcapehenlopen.org , or call 302-644-4923.  Members may take 10% discount on seed orders.  Food and baked goods available.  Clean books may be dropped off at the Nature Center on Friday, November 13th between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Saturday, November, 14th – Battery 519 Museum Tours – from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Take a guided tour of a World War II coastal defense gun battery and see the renovations to this historic site.  Learn its history and plans for the future.  Limited to 30. $5 per adult and $2.50 per child.  Pre-registration is required so please call the Seaside Nature Center, 302-645-6852 to pre-register.  Directions:  Follow the “Fort Miles” signs to the Historic Area parking lot.  Walk the paved road through the Cantonment Area to the Orientation Building, the last large building on your right.

Fort Miles, located in what is now Cape Henlopen State Park, was a key part of the nation’s coastal defense during and after WWII.

 

Rehoboth Beach

Wednesday, November 11 through Sunday, November 15th – Is the 12th Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival.  This very popular festival brings movies, shorts and documentaries to the Delaware beaches.  All movies are shown at the Movies at Midway, Route 1 (Coastal Highway).  $9.00 per movie, $8 for senior citizens and students with ID.  For information please call 302-645-9095 or visit www.rehobothfilm.com.  Tickets sales take place at the Festival Box Office in the Big Tent behind the theaters.

Saturday, November 14th – Delaware State Parks Trail Challenge (3.6 miles) – 11:00 a.m.  Escape the bustling corridor of Rt. 1 on this stone dust trail along an old railway path through woods and marshes.  Meet at the trailhead behind the Seaside Outlets.

Saturday, November 14th – “Second Saturdays:  Destination Art Walk”. Walk around the many downtown galleries in Rehoboth Beach, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.  For more info. please visit www.mosaicrehoboth.com.

Saturday, November 14th – Heidi Lowe Gallery – Exhibit Opening – “Multiples” from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Limited edition jewelry sale by studio artists.  Location is 328 Rehoboth Ave.

I featured Heidi Lowe’s Studio on my post of September 20th called An Innovative Jewelry Studio, in case you would like to read a little bit more about her. 

The studio is open from 11:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesdays – Sundays.  Telephone is 302-227-9203. 

 

In all the beaches, restaurants, shops, art galleries, and museums are open.  I hope you get the chance to visit the beaches in the second season.
