I am thinking about you, Delray.  Another dusting of snow is about to reach us here, at the Delaware beaches.  Well, it’s winter.  What can we expect?

That Village by the Sea that I enjoy visiting so much is now at the height of its season.  That town knows how to show its visitors a good time.  Therefore, here is what’s in store for you if you are there, swimming, dining al fresco, walking, shopping, biking, not wearing coats or boots; just listening to the ruffle of the palm trees.

January is the Art & Soul Month.  For information on what Delray is offering please visit http://www.downtowndelraybeach.com/pdfs/Jan_Online_Cal.pdf.  And for further info. visit www.downtowndelraybeach.com/dda.

Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, After-Party, Florida, South Florida, Entertainment, Palm Beach County

One of the highlights of visiting Delray Beach, besides sitting on its gorgeous beach is to experience Atlantic Avenue.  Restaurants, shops, outdoor dining is what they are offering.  And, entertainment.  It seems that there is so much music in the air.

I was just there for a few days and got to enjoy some good music.

One of the venues for entertainment is Jonnie Brown’s located on 301 E. Atlantic Ave., tel. 561-243-9911.  Burgers, Ribs, and classic Rock n’ Roll.

We had pretty good hamburgers.  Nice size with an order of fries.

On Thursdays, you will find the Elvis impersonator.  He has been at this location for many years.  Has a huge following.  One of those is a lady we met.  She was 72 years old.  Always there and always dancing.  That’s what is keeping her so young. She was unbelievable.

I was there on Friday, as well, and there she was, dancing and enjoying Ryan & The Rockers.  Her husband, a spoon player was introduced and did a number for the audience.

She is the one in the blue shirt.

Ryan & The Rockers were so much fun and completely different from the performance on Thursday.

Then, Saturday comes along and brings Rosarito, an igualita from Puerto Rico, and her husband, Kiki, to Delray.  They had never been and off we went to listen to The Flyers. They could not believe the atmosphere in Delray and is still off season.

The Flyers usually play at Johnnie Brown’s on Wednesdays but had an extra performance that week.  If you get an opportunity, do go and listen to them, because they are very talented and versatile.

Another venue for dinner, music and dancing is Il Bacio.  I did not experience the food, so I can’t tell you how it is.  The patio is where the music is happening.  The location is 29 S.E. 2nd Ave., Tel. 561-865-7785.  website is www.ilbacioofdelray.com.  There is a cover and it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The first night Shelley and I went, we thought we would not be able to get in.  But, why?  Well, let’s say we were at least 20 years older than every person there.  Not only were we older, but it seemed we were shorter.  Yes, I guess our platforms/heels were not high enough.  We were also not that endowed, if you get my drift.

We got a few looks that said, what are they doing here?  Or, aren’t they my mother’s age?  We got a kick out of the whole experience.  So, we decided to take Rosarito and Kiki and again the 4 of us were the oldest people there.  We did not care; it was fun to check the scene.

Loud music, and crowded.  Dancing at a frenzy.  Kiki mentioned that it was like Ibiza, Spain.

For such a small Village by the Sea, the entertainment is pretty good.  And, we only went to a couple of places.

Have a great week…talk to you later…relax

Delray Beach, Florida, Elvis, Gallery Walk, Shark Feeding, South Florida, Palm Beach County, Activities, Events, 9/9/10 – 9/12/10

100_2516

I have not visited this Village by the Sea that I like so much in a few months.  Why am I leaving the beautiful September weather, here at the Delaware beaches?  In the Spring there was a fire in my townhouse and renovations have been going on.

What’s happening in Delray this week-end?  Delray is always full of activities and events; not just in the winter.

Atlantic Ave., Tel. 561-243-9911.  This restaurant is known for burgers, wings, ribs and classic rock.

Scott Ringersen’s was a Delray Beach police officer.  I am not sure if he still is, though.  He attracts big crowds on Thursday evenings; a lot of regulars.

On Friday and Saturday it’s Rock’n Roll’n Ribs at Johnnie Browns.  Friday Ryan & The Rockers will be performing and on Saturday The Flyers will be the performers.  On both days the performances start at 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.
