At times when you do not plan anything and just go with the flow or wing it, you have the most fun. Long summer days, not rushing, is part of living here at the Delaware Beaches. Believe me, I know I am lucky to live here and never take it for granted.
Debbie and I took off towards the Big Chill Beach Club. This is located south of Dewey Beach, Delaware, and probably closer to Bethany Beach. The actual address is 27099 Coastal Hwy., Bethany Beach, DE 19930. It opens at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day. Website? http://www.bigchillbeachclub.com
You can have the server sit you at a table or you can take a seatt at the bar looking out, which is what Debbie and I did. That was our view, sipping a little wine. We checked the menu and it actually looked good. Have not tasted the food so let me know if you do.
As we arrived it seemed there was a yoga class. This yoga studio in Rehoboth Beach, SoulFire, was celebrating with a class their 1st year anniversary. Very popular as you can see. Summer 2019 is expected to be a very busy one. The Delaware Beaches are year round resorts. People want to get out of the city. They want to experience that total physical and mental inertia. Refresh, really. Rehoboth Beach has a sign as you enter the city that says “Relax, You Are at The Beach”.
Finding parking might take all that physical and mental inertia by the wayside so Debbie and I continued to Misaki Sushi in South Bethany. Parking, good food, great service and very affordable.

Debbie and I started with two salads. The Seaweed Salad for Debbie, which was marinated seaweed and sesame seeds. And mine was the Lighthouse Salad which I found delicious. Seared tuna, avocado and sweet miso.
I love scallop sashimi so when on the menu, I do order it. My roll was the special of the evening.

Thursday, 4/18 – Charity Dinner hosted by The Sussex County Survivors Fund at 4:00 p.m. at Hooked Seafood & Martini Bar, located at 18585 Coastal Highway, Suite 23 in Rehoboth Beach. Friday, 4/19 – Really Rosie opens…a perfect musical for the whole family!! Friday, 4/9, Saturday, 4/20 at 7 p.m. Sunday, 4/21 at 3 p.m. Rosie, the self-proclaimed sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn’s Avenue P, entertains everyone by directing and starring in an “Oscar-winning” movie based on the exciting, dramatic, funny (and slightly exaggerated) story of her life. Saturday, 4/20 – Movie Screening at 7:00 p.m. at Movies at Midway (Upstairs) on Coastal Highway. What We Need is the Impossible is presented by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society and it is a collection of short films by Academy Award nominated Director Sam Green. Included in this collection is his latest documentary, “The Universal Language”, which traces the history of Esperanto, a new language created in the late 1800’s by a Polish doctor who believed that if everyone in the world spoke a common tongue, humanity could overcome racism and war. Filmmaker, Sam Greene will be present to introduce his films and answer questions after the screening.
It is not often that a filmmaker visits Sussex County, so enjoy this rare opportunity to talk directly with him. This program is part of the Film Society’s On Screen/In Person series. The goal of the program is to bring the vision of some of the country’s best independent filmmakers to a broad audience throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Sunday, 4/21 – Rehoboth Museum Hosts My Doll and Me Event. This is the second year where young ladies in the area, ages 8-12 are invited to a tea party for girls and their dolls, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Museum. Ice tea, lemonade, and sweet treats will be served. Girls will play and play old-fashioned games such as hop scotch, cat’s cradle and hula hoop. Each girl will be invited to tell a special story about her doll. Girls are encouraged to dress up.
The cost of the party is $10 and includes admission to the Museum, refreshments and games. This event is limited to 15 girls with one doll each. Please call 302-227-7310 to make a reservation. Young ladies and dolls who have attended this event in the past are welcomed to join the party again this year.
The Rehoboth Museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Avenue. Last year I helped with this event and it really was a lot of fun. It brought so many good memories. When I was young I really loved playing with my dolls.
From Doggies at the Beach – This is the premier facility for leaving your best friend…the pooch. My own dog, Addy, just spent about 10 days at Doggies at the Beach and if she could talk she would be raving about her spa day. Paws in Palmolive…awesome! I have a lot of friends that have found exactly what the above statement indicates. To tell you the truth I tried yoga one time but never felt too flexible, so I gave it up. I know, I should give it another try.

Easy Does It Yoga is a graceful blend of yoga postures emphasizing breathing with synchronized movement alignment, while building strength, flexibility and balance, combined with meditation for relaxation and clarity. Very good for those new to it. Maybe that’s the one I need.

Bethany Beach is where my children grew up. This town is so popular with families. Even at the height of the season, when it is so crowded, you still can feel that small town atmosphere.

Wednesday, 7/28 – 1st State Harmonizers will be performing at the Bandstand. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. This is a men’s barbershop choral group. They preserve the barbershop music as an art form. It is a style of a cappella, or unaccompanied vocal music.
