From the Delaware Tourism Office comes great news for those of us that have the ability to pass on information about our small state.  Sought after by many as a place for retirement, for fun, and for relaxation, the Delaware Tourism Office is really campaigning so that when it comes to your vacation choices…..Delaware is It!!

It is the first time in the state history, that the Delaware Tourism Office has created a brand identity, a tagline and even television commercials designed to increase national awareness of Delaware as a desirable place to vacation.  Many of us know that already, now we want you to check it out.

It is called the “Endless Discoveries” brand campaign.  It aims to boost visitation and tourism revenue in Delaware by creating an image in consumers’ minds of the state as a destination that will surpass any preconceptions.

The Director of the Delaware Tourism Office states:  “The challenge has always been to show others that Delaware is far more than just a place they pass through on I-95”.   That, I have heard….receiving a call saying “We are on 95 going to such and such place…passing through Delaware….and, are you close by?”

I found this interesting…The brand campaign messages were specifically designed to resonate with female consumers, who have been shown to statistically more likely to take the lead in vacation planning decisions.  The campaign is expected to reach hundreds of thousands of people in 16 East Coast states.

The new logo above shown, along with the words Endless Discoveries is hoping to spark the travelers’ curiosity and make them want to learn more……The Director of the Delaware Tourism Office, Linda Parkowski, goes on to state “The next step was to create words and images that fit that concept, and give travelers a sense that Delaware has treasures waiting to be found.”  Some of us have found those already!!

Strawberries, Magee Farms, You Pick, They Pick, Lewes, Delaware, Official Delaware State Fruit, Delaware Delicious!, Southern Delaware, Strawberry Fields Forever!

dscn3824

Over 75 farm family operated markets are scattered through the Delaware landscape.  They feature the best in local, fresh and tasty produce.  Before Southern Delaware was known for its chicken and poultry farms, there was the strawberry.  And young and old love to pick strawberries.

dscn3838

In 2010 the strawberry became the official State fruit.  Delaware strawberries are bred for taste, not to be big.  They also don’t have a long shelf life.

The first thing you will notice as you entered the market, is the floor; sand only!  The market carries what’s in season and at this time strawberries and asparagus are the main event.

The market offers plenty of strawberry jams, preserves, cider, and dressings.  Hanging baskets and potted plants, as well.

Note:  They told me that they should still be picking for another 2 weeks.  It could be a bit shorter if the weather continues to be too hot.  So, stop by and check them out, because other produce is coming in season soon.

Where to eat in Rehoboth Beach?  Plenty of places to eat, being that Rehoboth Beach is a dining and vacationing destination in Southern Delaware.  The town is looking great, expecting a very good 2013 Season!

We all have our favorite places to eat….GreenMan Juice Bar & Bistro is located on 12 Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, on the ocean block. It is in one of those quaint cottages that abound in Rehoboth and define this coastal town.

dscn2793

You can find GreenMan on Facebook.  Tel. 302-227-4909.  They are open for breakfast and lunch Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  They will be expanding the hours once the season gets going.  Take-out available.  Website?  http://www.greenmanjuicebar.com

If the weather is warm try to sit on the porch; inside is just as comfortable.

dscn2764

My friend, Jody, and I started with a beverage.  Me?  A frothy capuccino.

dscn2755

There is so much to try at this popular restaurant in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  I keep saying that one of these days that French Toast is going to be mine.  On Friday…well, we are trying to watch our figures, Jody and I had something simple.

dscn2762

She had the Homemade Quiche of the Day, the Quiche du Jour, made with organic free range eggs and organic fresh veggies.  Organic greens and sesonal fruits on the side.

dscn2756

I decided on the GreenMan Tofu Scramble in a Wrap.  Organic vegetables, sauteed with tofu and hearty red potatoes served with fresh tomato salsa in a whole wheat wrap.  A little hot sauce on the side to spice things up.

dscn2758

We chatted a bit…and that was it….then, it was off to Morgan & Gower….Friday was National Cheese Day!!

Have a Good One!!
