A few weeks ago two of my usual suspects and I took a day trip to Oxford, St. Michaels, and Easton….Maryland’s Eastern Shore!! Today’s weather reminded me of that trip. At times it is better not to plan. Our trip was unexpected and we had the most fun. These women are interesting, exciting, and always ready for a road trip.
We had lunch at the Robert Morris Inn, ice cream at the Highland Creamery and then stopped at a very cute shop called The Treasure Chest, located at 214 N. Morris St. Tel. 410-924-8817 They are on Facebook.
The shop opens Wednesday through Monday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Skipper Bags, Stained Glass, Pottery, Tervis, Joan’s Gems, Port of Oxford merchandise and much more is what Joan Nubie-Miscall offers to her customers, along with plenty of friendly conversation.
The Oxford-Bellevue Ferry is America’s oldest privately owned ferry. It was established in 1683. The 2 Debbies and I were taking it, crossing the Tred Avon River. The ferry runs 7 days a week. Please note that in November, it only runs Saturday and Sunday. There are continuous crossings every 15-20 minutes. It closes at sunset. Tel. 410-745-9023. Website? http://www.oxfordbellevueferry.com. On Facebook find it as Oxford Bellevue Ferry. Fares are subject to change. You can take your bikes, motorcycle, car or just be a walk-on passenger.
It takes no time to cross the Tred Avon River. The ferry is very small….on that day only my car and two other passengers with their bikes were on board.
The mail to St. Michaels was coming with us, as well. Oxford is a small town.
Meet my two friends. Debbie and Debbie.
Arriving at Bellevue Landing….The scenic route between Oxford and St. Michaels is one of the top 25 bicycle routes in the U.S.A.
We went directly to The Inn at Perry Cabin. This Manor Home Resort & Spa is owned by the Belmond Group. It is located at 308 Watkins Lane in St. Michaels, MD 21663. Tel. 410-745-2200. Website? http://www.belmond.com/innatperrycabin It is pet friendly.
Manicured gardens and cozy corners to take a seat and relax.
The Inn at Perry Cabin is a destination for weddings, sailing, spa relaxing treatments, and other celebrations. We decided to make ourselves at home. So much so, that we did not even take a walk in downtown St. Michaels.
Sipping Cucumber Water, we sat for the longest time enjoying one beautiful scenery and the best company.
Our day was not over….our next destination? Easton, Maryland…Stay tuned.
“Travel becomes a strategy for accumulating photographs.” susan sontag……Guilty!!

Do you have your red, white, and blue attire for this evening’s Fireworks in Rehoboth Beach? Remember, The Funsters will be at the Bandstand before and after the Fireworks, entertaining the crowds.
Basic Concepts has been in Rehoboth Beach since 1973. It is one of the few stores in Downtown Rehoboth that have seen the ups and downs of the economy through the years and can say they have become iconic in town. Basic Concepts is located at 149 Rehoboth Avenue in the Village-By-The-Sea Shops. Tel. 302-227-8685 Website? http://www.basicconceptsrehoboth.com.
When visitors come to the beach, one of the attractions is the fact that we have a pretty relaxed lifestyle. Basic Concepts have stayed true to that idea and carries brands and accessories that show off that you can wear casual clothing and still look very good.
After a morning of stormy weather, it is brighter this afternoon. So…..ready to shop?

Walking through Main Street in Manayunk in Philadelphia a window caught my attention. A consignment shop. The name of this shop was Greene Street Consignment, located at 4313 Main St., Philadelphia, PA 19127. Tel. 267-335-5478. I have found that this is not the only location….New York, New Jersey and other parts in Pennsylvania. Visit http://www.greenestreetconsignment.com.
Greene Street Consignment has a fresh take on the whole consignment shopping experience. This shop looked like a boutique, storefront included. Plenty of namebrands, but they are focused on style.
Next time I visit Manayunk I am definitely stopping by. I need to find out more about it.
Whether you are a shopper or consignor, just remember that recycling your clothes gives them another chance…don’t discard them, let someone else enjoy them a second time around.
Talk to you later.

I sat at my computer; ready to write the post on Something Comfortable. Should I start with some funny quote about “underwear”, or should I get down to business. Down to business I chose.
There is nothing better than the feel of intimate apparel. We women do love that. And, there is nothing worse than an ill fitting bra or let’s be honest; underwear is tops. Call it thongs, hanky panky, etc. etc. If it does not fit, you must get relief.
Hanky Panky Thongs
That’s when you visit a store like Something Comfortable. It is going to be almost a year since they moved to their present location at 122 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Tel. 302-227-6180. Website? www.something-comfortable.com. On Facebook? You better believe it, just like everyone else, including AboutMyBeaches.
Granted, good quality underwear is expensive. Almost like you get what you pay for. At Something Comfortable you will find a wide range of prices and brands, as well. In their website you will see the brands that are currently in the store. You might find yours but it is always fun to try something new too. Some of these are P.J. Salvage, Bamboo Nights, Betsey Johnson, P.J. Harlow Dreamwear, Oscar de la Renta, among many others.
A FAQ page will answer practically every question regarding, bras, care and fitting.
I, actually, came to the store to find a present for my sister in law, besides the Chia Pet I am giving her for Christmas. Phyllis was as welcoming as ever. I have not seen her in such a long time. She has been working for Sue Petty, who is the owner of Something Comfortable, for quite awhile. Phyllis is a fitting professional. I also met Carol who is working at the store, as well.
You can call Something Comfortable for a customized fitting appt. Phyllis will guide you and make suggestions. Something you might not thought about will probably look and feel great. You can also just walk in and have a fitting in no time.
I found such a beautiful robe for my sister in law. She had given me a hint. You know how it is. In the process, I also bought a few things for myself. I bought something from Verena Designs which is from High Point, N.C. Made in the U.S. That’s what I am talking about. Women do love to buy and get intimate apparel.
Sitting by the fire on Christmas morning wearing new pj’s, loungewear, or whatever your choice might be, is really nice. I already wore mine, but cannot wait to see when Susie, my sister in law, feels her robe.
Guys, do not despair. The store has about 3 shelves for you. That’s all you need, right? Tommy Bahama boxers, that’s it!! Different colors and styles. Don’t be embarrassed; just go in.
Contour bras are expensive and traveling might cause them to lose their shape. At Something Comfortable they have the bra bags. Again, in different sizes with plenty of protection.
So many of my friends are planning weddings, at the moment. A bridal party is welcomed to shop at Something Comfortable. Just call them up and make an appt.
For the bride they have so many beautiful things; for the honeymoon and every day during that special time.
Wish Lists can be set up through their website; either for a bride, an event or for yourself.
So, if you have been thinking of updating your intimate apparel, this is the place to go. So many colors, varieties, sizes, for every day or for a special occasion.
And last but not least; there is always Spanx. Shapeware, a must for this time of the year and they do have different amounts of compression, if you get my drift.
I had a lot of fun talking to Phyllis and Carol….The store is complete full; so many choices, and quite a store, it is.
Naughty, or, Nice?
Talk to you later….have a good one!!

I have never been one to shop in big malls. I know, I know, the majority of people do. I don’t even go when there is not a holiday around the corner. So, why would I go when at the holiday season all I will get is full parking lots, long lines at the cash register, attendants are busy and a little short?
I like those small shops that you find in every single town, or city. In these shops you get the personal attention you need. My favorites are the local shops in the Delmarva Peninsula; the towns of Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, Ocean View, Ocean City, and Berlin among them.
So, no hustle and bustle; peace and serenity is what I want. One such shop is TaDa in the Historic town of Berlin, Maryland. I have written about it before and I just wrote a post on its sister store, TaDa Home. These are the shops that are worth visiting over and over again. New merchandise gets updated all the time.
TaDa is located at 18 N Main St., Berlin, MD 21811. Tel. 410-641-4430. Website? http://www.blairelizabeth.com. At any given time you will find Blair, Patty, Christine and even Brooke. They are responsible for everything on the store to look just right.
Being that the Holidays are upon us I wanted to show you some of the items that make TaDa a must stop shop in Berlin.
TaDa has a Children’s Corner with lots of cute presents for babies. The store has tote bags, scarves, shoes, bags, personalized items and even fun presents for the bride to be.
New colors had just come in – the flats
TaDa carries jewelry but the one that attracted by attention is the one designed and handmade by Blair Elizabeth. The stones and color combinations are, definitely, fun, casual with an understated elegance.
TaDa and TaDa Home are part of the merchants that make the town of Historic Berlin special during the Christmas Season. Please check out the following events when both shops will be involved.
December 1 through the 24th – Join them for refreshments, gourmet tastings, and free gift wrapping. The stores will open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Fridays in December – Sip and shop with TaDa at Burley Oak Brewery. Stop by TaDa any time to fill out your wish list and send your Santa to Burley Oak located in a building originally built at the turn of the century at 10016 Old Ocean City Blvd. 5 – 7 p.m. shop and enjoy some delicious local brews.
Food Drive, December 3rd – Benefitting the Maryland Food Bank. For every non-perishable food item donated, receive a coupon for $1 off your $5 purchase. No limit on coupons – coupons must be redeemed that day.
Have a great day!! Talk to you later…

I have visited the Sandoway House before I started writing this blog and thought it was time to visit it again and see what was new. The Sandoway House is located at 142 South Ocean Blvd., and it is very visible from A1A. Tel. is 561-274-7263. Website? www.sandowayhouse.org.
This house used to be the winter residence of a retired produce broker named J.B. Evans. It was designed by Samuel Ogren, Sr. Since it was built during the great depression, the only ostentation is the cathedral window on the south side of the house. Samuel Ogren, Sr. is considered the Father of Delray Beach Architecture. In 2002 this house was listed on the National Historic Places. You can read more information on the Historic Marker placed by the entrance of the Sandoway House Nature Center.
On Sundays, the shark feeding is at 1:30 p.m. and it was about time. As I walked around the gardens I noticed plaques identifying indigenous plants.
I love porches and the Sandoway House has a beautiful one; I could only imagine sitting there when times were less hectic; life more simple.
The Blue and Gold Macaw was the bird I encountered first. I heard he can be a little cranky. He was calm on Sunday, though, checking everyone coming in.
In this porch you will also find a large fish tank and a gorgeous lobster. Also there is a turtle pond and a gopher tortoise habitat. The gopher tortoise, Speedy, was hiding. This tortoise is protected in Florida because the iguanas are eating their eggs; construction is destroying their natural habitat.
The box turtle, Gigi was out and about. Conservationists are concerned because their habitat is being destroyed.
There is an entry fee of $4.00 and I cannot remember the volunteer’s name working there but him and Steve, who feeds the sharks were very informative.
There is a shop with souvenirs and books on Florida, Delray and nature.
There is a microscope lab for viewing nature up close. Tha’st where I saw The Knight Anole, Pedro. Native to Cuba with strong jaws and sharpt teeth.
The Brown Basilisk was another lizard found from Mexico to Columbia. They are excellent swimmers.
And then there was Rose, the Chilean Rose Tarantula. She eats grasshoppers, cockroaches, and crickets.
In this room 2 microscopes are set to be used by the public to view various objects found in nature.
Another room has photos interpreting Delray Beach History. One watercolor shows the Sandoway right on the beach. It was before A1A was even there.
The Yvonne S. Templeton Shell Gallery is one the largest private shells collections in the world. It is housed at the Sandoway House and even though there are so many on display, this is only about 6% of a collection of 10,000 shells.
Steve called me since it was time to feed the sharks. They were sand sharks and fed by hand once a day. He was very knowledgeable and connected well with the younger crowd in attendance.
There were other fish but one that acted like the residence dog was Bob. It was a Spotfin Burfish. This fish is found in tropical seas. It eats clams, crabs, and lobsters. Bob has a beak and grinding plates that crush the shells of the animals he eats.
The Sandoway House offers educational programs to the public. Besides the shark feedings, they have guided historic tours, nature walks, astronomy nights, summer camp and special events like Earth Day.
Guests speakers add to the special events, talking about environmental topics. The website will be the best information source to check out what’s on the schedule.
Schools and special interest groups are welcomed, as well, so please call to schedule a group adventure.
This beautiful house and grounds are also available for special events, like meetings, weddings and birthday parties.
Hours of operation are: Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sundays from 12 Noon until 2 p.m.
Shark feedings are Tuesdays to Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and on Sundays at 1:30 p.m.
Tired of sitting on the beautiful Delray Beach? Too cloudy? Kids are driving you insane? The Sandoway House is located just a block and a half south of Atlantic Ave., on the west side of A1A between Sandoway Park and Ingram Parking Lot.
Have a great day. My visit to Delray is winding down…..talk to you later….
