Christine’s Consignments, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Women’s Clothing, Men’s Clothing, Jewelry, Handbags, Shoes, Housewares, Resales, Modern, Chic, Consignment Shopping, Southern Delaware, Delaware Beaches, Rehoboth Beach Annual Sidewalk Sales are this Weekend!!

I have been on a roll….purging my closets, getting organized.  Why do we accummulate so much stuff?  It is true, that if you have not worn it or used it for a couple of years, then donate it to someone that can enjoy it. With that thought in mind and with the other thought that “someone’s trash is another person’s treasure”, I kept packing bag after bag.  The Thrift Shop at Midway Shopping Center on Coastal Highway was not taking anymore clothing; only shoes, bags and other items. There is another one on the Forgotten Mile run by the Episcopal Church.  Since then I have found out that there are plenty of other shops in the area. People have the same thoughts at this time of the year.

A few friends suggested I take some of my things to a consignment shop.  That they do and enjoy getting that extra cash in their pockets.  I started thinking about it and that is how I ended up calling Christine’s Consignments. This cute little shop is located at 200-A Rehoboth Ave., in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, DE. Tel. 302-226-1126.  If you decide you would like to take some of your treasures that you no longer need to Christine’s, please give them a call so that you can make an appointment.  At the time of the appointment you can bring your goodies so they can go through them. And please don’t take it personal if they don’t choose everything you brought that you thought was the best.  Seasonal things is what they want and they want them to be in good shape and worthy of resale.  If you keep that in mind you will do great.

Just like in any shop the clothing is divided in sections.  There are new arrivals and also designer clothing racks.

This weekend in Downtown Rehoboth Beach are the much awaited and very well attended Sidewalk Sales.  Hope you can make it.  All weekend long, you will be able to get tremendous discounts, and find fabulous accessories. These sales start today, Friday, May 18th and continue through Sunday, May 20th, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. but some store hours may vary.  Please check that out.  It is going to be a rainy weekend but do not worry those sales are here to stay. Tax free shopping in Delaware!!

Christine’s Consignments has another location at 42 Atlantic Ave., in Ocean View, near Bethany Beach. That telephone is 302-829-1425.

If you are bringing some of your treasures to Christine’s Consignments once they have gone through the items you will be given a number.  And you will also sign a very simple contract.  You should give them time to sell your items.  And, you can discuss with them what you would like to do if items are not sold.  They do donate to the local charities things that are not sold.

Like any other shop, items come and go quickly.  The inventory is always changing.  So probably is not one of those shops that you would likely say “I have been there already”.  Always something new at very good prices. You are spending time at the beach and let’s say you forgot your accessories, Christine’s Consignments would be perfect to grab that item that will finish your look.

I hope you have a great weekend.  Good luck finding your treasures!! Give them a chance second time around!

The connection of Azura Clothing to Rehoboth Cocoa Crawl is simple.  Its owner, Alyssa Titus, is also the founder and force behind Rehoboth Cocoa Crawl.  I stopped today at Azura to take a few pictures.  Afterall, it should be featured on this post.  Putting together these kinds of events takes a lot of dedication.  Alyssa has a family and juggles the dynamics of a family and a business, or two for that matter.  She also owns, Clad, which is located at the First Street Station, in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.

dscn9550

Azura Clothing is located at 139 Rehoboth Ave., Tel. 302-226-9650.  Website?  http://www.azuraclothing.net.

Chatting with Alyssa, I found out that she is also a designer.  She has her own label.  And, she has been in the business for a long time.

This has not been my first visit to Azura.  But, it has been the first visit in which I have to pay more attention to detail.  First impression?  I liked it.  The store is bright and full of merchandise.  If you are attending the Rehoboth Cocoa Crawl you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

dscn9547

I can see why Alyssa likes the quote; “A woman creates her style and fashion”.  Alyssa told me that she looks for very unique pieces.  The ones that can set you apart from the rest.  She blends styles very well; trendy, casual, and classic.

To check the individual brands carried at Azura, please visit http://www.azuraclothing.net/our-brands.html.

dscn3337

I am one of those women that is drawn to small boutiques whose clothes could be more interesting and unique than those mall variety stores.

It has been about a year and a half, that a women’s apparel shop opened in Rehoboth Beach called Jane and Georgie.  They are located at 1119 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  This is in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, by the roundabout.   Tel. 302-245-7187.  Website?  http://www.janeandgeorgie.com.  You can also find it on Facebook and Twitter.

dscn3338

The shopkeeper is Kate Chambers. Even though she had, previously, been in the retail business, this was something different.  She was the owner.

Throughout the year I have stopped to check what new things she has gotten in.   And, yes, at times I have rewarded myself with something; other times I have stopped by to get a present for a girlfriend.

The other day I stopped again.  Kate has really come into her own as a shopkeeper.  She is really good with the customers, showing them this or that; making a simple suggestion.  She is confident and she knows she has good quality in her store.

Check her website because you can see all the different designers and brands Jane and Georgie is offering. Shopping on-line? Yes, she has that available for you, as well.  But, if you buy here, in Rehoboth Beach, please, realize that there is no sales tax in Delaware.

Jane and Georgie is pretty much ready for the season.  It has all the apparel needed for any occasion; dressy or sport, which is our lifestyle, here at the Beach.  Here is what I found out.

Personal Attention?, Why Not Shop Local?, TaDa, Historic Berlin, Maryland, Accessories, Shoes, One of a Kind Jewelry, Kids’ Corner

dscn0044

I have never been one to shop in big malls.  I know, I know, the majority of people do.  I don’t even go when there is not a holiday around the corner.  So, why would I go when at the holiday season all I will get is full parking lots, long lines at the cash register, attendants are busy and a little short?

I like those small shops that you find in every single town, or city.  In these shops you get the personal attention you need.  My favorites are the local shops in the Delmarva Peninsula; the towns of Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, Ocean View, Ocean City, and Berlin among them.

So, no hustle and bustle; peace and serenity is what I want.  One such shop is TaDa in the Historic town of Berlin, Maryland.  I have written about it before and I just wrote a post on its sister store, TaDa Home.  These are the shops that are worth visiting over and over again.  New merchandise gets updated all the time.

TaDa is located at 18 N Main St., Berlin, MD 21811.  Tel. 410-641-4430.  Website?  http://www.blairelizabeth.com.  At any given time you will find Blair, Patty, Christine and even Brooke.  They are responsible for everything on the store to look just right.

Being that the Holidays are upon us I wanted to show you some of the items that make TaDa a must stop shop in Berlin.

dscn0114

TaDa has a Children’s Corner with lots of cute presents for babies.  The store has tote bags, scarves, shoes, bags, personalized items and even fun presents for the bride to be.

dscn0112

dscn0118

dscn0115

New colors had just come in – the flats

dscn0109dscn0110dscn0111dscn0108

TaDa carries jewelry but the one that attracted by attention is the one designed and handmade by Blair Elizabeth.  The stones and color combinations are, definitely, fun, casual with an understated elegance.

dscn0120dscn0121dscn0122dscn0123dscn0124dscn0125dscn0119

TaDa and TaDa Home are part of the merchants that make the town of Historic Berlin special during the Christmas Season.  Please check out the following events when both shops will be involved.

December 1 through the 24th – Join them for refreshments, gourmet tastings, and free gift wrapping.  The stores will open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:30 a.m.  until 3 p.m.

Fridays in December – Sip and shop with TaDa at Burley Oak Brewery.  Stop by TaDa any time to fill out your wish list and send your Santa to Burley Oak located in a building originally built at the turn of the century at 10016 Old Ocean City Blvd.  5 – 7 p.m. shop and enjoy some delicious local brews.

Food Drive, December 3rd – Benefitting the Maryland Food Bank.  For every non-perishable food item donated, receive a coupon for $1 off your $5 purchase.  No limit on coupons – coupons must be redeemed that day.

Have a great day!!  Talk to you later…

Rock Creek, Men’s Shop, Men’s Clothing, Rehoboth Beach, Quality Designs, Delaware Beaches, This Post is For Men Only

 img_4852

Rock Creek is a men’s shop in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Named for Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C.  For many years two stores were owned; one in our Nation’s Capital and the other in the Nation’s Summer Capital, here in Rehoboth.  Then, only Rock Creek is now in Rehoboth Beach.  Location?  212 Rehoboth Aven, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  Tel. 302-226-3140.  Fax # 302-226-3141.  E-mail address is beachcreek@hotmail.com.

img_4879

The proprietors are Joe and Gregg.  I met Gregg the other day.  I wanted to write a post just for men.  It seems that there are not too many men’s quality shops at the Delaware Beaches.  So there I was, at their door, just as Gregg was opening up.

Rock Creek has been in Rehoboth for many years; I am embarrassed to say that I had never been in.  The first thing I saw as I came in was their official greeter, Kirby, a yellow lab.  She was sprawled on the carpet; checking me out; her tail was wagging.

img_4854

Gregg was so nice.  First customer of the day and I was probably asking too many questions.  I felt that the store had great lighting.  The merchandise was displayed according to the individual designer.  Not crowded; just perfect.

img_4876

We live on the coast and the clothing reflected that relaxed atmosphere we all love here at the Beaches.  The clothing was casual; at the same time exuding confidence and sophistication.

img_4861

img_4857

Some designers I knew and others Gregg introduced.

Vince is a New York based company.  Casual clothing and summer basics.

img_4856

Billy Reid was the winner of GQ’s Best New Designer Award for 2010.  He is from Florence, Alabama.

img_4858

img_4859

Adriano Goldschmied, better known as AG was founded in 2000; The clothing has great quality, design, and state-of-the art washes.

img_4862

Hugo Boss covers the main fashion areas for men and women.

img_4863

img_4877

Michael Kors designs are polished, sleek and considered sophisticated American sports wear.

Paul Smith catapulted into fashion by accident.  He first opened a tiny shop in 1970.  Today, he is still, both, designer and chairman.   He has an interesting story.  Visit http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/paul-smith-world/history/.

img_4860

His name is Claudio Orciani.  After making a belt for himself, he then decided to make them for everyone else.  In 1979 his company was founded.

img_4865

img_4871

Rock Creek had very unique bracelets from Tateossian.  It is a London based company who makes jewelry for men and women.  The designs are contemporary and fashion forward.

img_4867

img_4868

img_4869

img_4870

Robert Tateossian is considered to be “King of Cuff Links”.  He had an international upbringing; fluent in 7 languages.

Gant was founded in 1949 in New Haven, CT.  It is the fusion of 2 cultures that makes it unique.  The company is also owned by the same company that owns Chemise Lacoste.

img_4864

Rock Creek also carries several lines of men’s shoes.

img_4873

img_4872

img_4874

Thank you Gregg for taking the time to show me your beautiful shop.  Wishing you and Joe a great summer season.

As I was leaving  the store, Kirby looked up.  I could almost hear her saying “Are you finished yet?”

img_4875

P.S.  Rock Creek is also carrying bathing suits this year.

Talk to you later……Happy Father’s Day to All of you that make a difference in someone’s life…

Vernon Powell, Shoes, Foot Analysis, Athletic Shoes, Men’s, Women’s, Kids’, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Beaches, Guess what? I had my feet measured…

I have been complaining about shin splints.  Yes, I have.  They do hurt.  Somebody said, well you need to walk this way or that way, you need to stretch more, and then someone said you might have to have your feet measured.  Then she said that she had gone to Vernon Powell and had had an analysis of her feet.

img_2957

Vernon Powell has been in the Delmarva Peninsula (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) since 1936.  The location that I went to is at 18798 Coastal Hwy., Unit 2, Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-644-7463.  Website? www.vpshoes.com.

The store is brand new.  I think they opened towards the end of 2010.  I thought I was coming into just an athletic shoe store, but I found much more than that.  But, first things first.  My fitting.

I was introduced to Dan Trader.  He is a Pedorthist.  A what?  I asked him.  The formal definition is:  A person trained in the biomechanical assessment of the lower limb, the fitting and modification of foot orthoses, and the fitting and modifying of footwear, all for the purpose of alleviating painful or debilitating conditions and providing assistance for abnormalities or limited action of the lower limb.  Dan told me that he was basically a pharmacist for the feet.  Okay.

Dan and I chatted a bit regarding my exercise routine.  I told him I walked a lot and that I had not bought tennis shoes in about a year.  He mentioned that tennis shoes should be changed about every 6 months.

Then, I proceeded to step onto a machine called the I Step.  This machine is made by a company called Aetrex.  It is an art digital scanner and pressure sensor.  It measures feet and determines foot type, arch type, and pressure points.

img_2941

img_2943

After that was done then a traditional fitting for length and width of my feet.

img_2944

I know that tennis shoes are bought usually a bill larger than regular shoes.  What happened to my dainty size 7?  Now I am a 9 W in tennis shoes!!  This is just as bad as buying a bathing suit.  Well, not quite.

Dan suggested a NB shoe that is all in leather.  Some people don’t want leather for the summer but I don’t mind.  This is a big, wide tennis shoe and Dan asked if I had a problem wearing something that was bigger than usual.  I really was there for comfort; not style.  My walking is not to impress anyone.  But, until the big white tennis shoes get dirty, that’s all you might see of me if you happen to bump into me.

img_2964

When I put them on, they were so comfortable!! Great!!  I hope Addy won’t be embarrassed.  But, how could she?  She’s a Heinz 57!!

IMG_1133

Now that I had my new shoes, I took the time to look around the store.  Beside shoes they have accessories.

If you are a fan of the brand, Brighton, well they have plenty to choose from.

img_2955

The same with Vera Bradley.  I cannot believe all the new styles and colors.  This company is having more updated looks.

img_2956

Uggs?  Plenty, as well.

img_2949

There were really cute sandals for women but plenty of shoes for men and children, as well.

img_2946

img_2947

img_2948

A wide variety, hitting all tastes and styles.  Traditional, more edgy; some a bit granola and some summery flip flops.

img_2952

img_2951

img_2954

If you want to know what other foot health services Vernon Powell provides, then please visit www.vpshoes.com.

I asked Dan how the store was doing.  He said some people get upset that they are not an outlet.  My answer to that was that not every store at the Delaware Beaches need to be an outlet.  My goodness, it is tax free shopping, so get over it!!

Talk to you later…..have a good one….

Jane & Georgie, Boutique, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Women’s Apparel, Jewelry, Scarves, Shoes, Delaware Beaches

IMG_0392

The other day I got an email announcing the grand opening of a new boutique in Rehoboth Beach.  I love to hear of new places opening up.  The opening was yesterday, Friday; the busiest day of the Holiday Season.

Jane & Georgie is located at 419 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.  Website is www.janeandgeorgie.com. The owners?  Kate Chambers, 302-245-7182 and Lisa Thomson, 302-228-6775. They are sisters!!

IMG_0397

And you are probably wondering what’s with the name.  Grandparents that’s who they were, which both sisters remember with great love and admiration.  They both had a unique sense of style.  Kate and Lisa decided to dedicate their new venture to them.

The shop is easy to find; right near the roundabout in Rehoboth Beach.

I did not know what I was going to find, but then I saw Kate.  This sister, I had met before.  She has been in the retail business now for quite some time.  I was so glad to see her and she told me that they had started thinking about doing something like this months ago; voila!, they are in business now.

It is really a store for women.  They are still getting merchandise in and they will be getting some apparel for children, as well.

At this time of the year the store opened up in a festive mood.  The tree and the lights complemented the dresses first seen as you approached the door.

IMG_0386

Jewelry, clutches, accessories, very pretty dresses, blouses, shirts, scarves and just about anything we women enjoy to shop for.

IMG_0399

IMG_0416IMG_0406IMG_0380

Jane & Georgie will be carrying jeans; one of the brands is James Jeans.  That company is based in LA and supposedly they have created the perfect fitting jeans to hide ones flaws.  Music to my ears!!

The classic jelly ballet flat shoes with peep toe were from a company called Melissa Shoes.  The summer clutch was from Elaine Turner.

IMG_0384

Clothing designers available are Elizabeth McKay, Soshana, Tibi, and Butter by Nadia.

IMG_0393

IMG_0371

IMG_0381

IMG_0410

IMG_0395

IMG_0373

The trendy triple leather bracelets were by Vita Fede and made in Italy.

IMG_0414

Now that the cooler weather has arrived, the store also had plenty of scarves; some linen, some cashmere and some ruffled.

IMG_0366

An important accessory for a woman is the jewelry she wears.  Jane & Georgie has plenty.  Lauren G. Adams has X Rings, which are stackables and offers plenty of color selections.  Her flower necklaces are also very popular.

IMG_0409

IMG_0415

Then there is Kenneth Jay Lane, which is a company based in N.Y.  He is kown for being elegant and innovative.

IMG_0367

 IMG_0385

So I have offered you a peak into a new boutique in Rehoboth Beach.  You will love Kate and Lisa.  At the present time the shop opens every day.

Please note that Jane & Georgie are on Facebook and Twitter.    Also, please check their website; very nice.
