“I miss the days when summer vacation was about relaxing and hanging out with friends. Now, it’s about trying to squeeze your friends whenever you can.”
Dewey Beach is one of those coastal towns at the Delaware Beaches that once you become acquainted with it; well, it grabs you. Some of its supporters started coming to Dewey in their early years; it’s funny to see them now with a few kids in tow.

Wind Turbine at College of Marines Studies, Lewes. Height 256 ft., Weight 203 tons, Blade Length 144 feet
This has been one of the nicest Memorial Week-Ends at the Delaware Beaches. The gates have opened and visitors arrived. It is great to see them but it can get a little hectic. Traffic overwhelms anyone that has been here through the winter. We have to adjust to waiting in line for a couple of minutes and finding parking could be a test for patience.
The weather has been great. Hot and sunny. Beaches are crowded even though the water is still cold.
If you are visiting the Lewes area this is what’s going on this week.

I have visited Berlin in the past weeks a few times. I cannot get over how good it looks. Streets and buildings are pristine. This historic town is ready to give its visitors a good time.
Today, Saturday, 5/7 - Is the 4th Annual Berlin Jazz & Blues Bash from 12 Noon until 8:00 p.m. It will take place on 2 outdoor stages. It is a celebration of music and art. Live jazz and blues artists will be around town. Art and food vendors will be there, as well. It goes with the territory.
For the Main Line-Up and event schedule please visit www.berlinchamber.org. The Berlin Chamber is located at 103 N. Main St. and is open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. In the website you will be able to find information on Berlin, visitors info., upcoming events and a Business Directory. Berlin has great shops!!
Berlin is very close to Ocean City and Assateague National Park. From Rehoboth Beach, the drive is about 45 minutes give or take a few. I used to do this drive a few times a day for about 10 years and believe me, it is very doable. So, a road trip could be on your schedule.
On my last visit I met with Cindi and Sherrie. Our choice for lunch on that day was at the historic Atlantic Hotel. We sat outside and the day was beautiful. Berlin is like no other town. To me, at times, it does not look real.

The Alantic Hotel is located at 2 N. Main St., Their Tel. is 410-641-3589 and the website is www.atlantichotel.com.

This hotel was built in 1895. It has 18 Victorian period guest rooms. For more info., please do visit the website.

The view from our table was towards Main Street. The porch was great and so relaxing.

Cindi and I had the Seasonal Field Greens with Grilled Wild Salmon. I had this same salad the last time. Delicious.

Sherrie’s Bistro Steak Salad looked wonderful.

And, then, for a sweet ending which I almost could not take a picture since we dove into it immediately was their Lemon Lust. Tangy; not overly sweet.

I hope you have a great day!!…Talk to you later….

Just like every Saturday in Delray Beach, you will find a lot of people congregated at SE 4th Avenue in Delray. That is where the Delray GreenMarket holds court from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Last Saturday I was lucky enough to experience the GreenMarket on a gorgeous day. It was also the day to celebrate in Delray St. Patty’s Day.
The music emanating from that street was great. Blues; The Cats were playing. Later on Heidi also played with The Cats. A CD was for sale and I bought it. It is really good.

Lots of people in attendance; some already with full bags in hand.

The guacamole looked delicious. It was Anita’s Guacamole. I had not seen them before; I am not sure how long they have been part of the GreenMarket.

I met Lori Nolan and she is the GreenMarket Manager. She showed me around a bit. She is one busy lady. Then she pointed to JC’s Daily Bread. His moto? “A Taste of Heaven Without The Wait”. Jon-Claude Stevens is the Chief Baker. The website is www.jcsdailybread.com.

I bought some of JC’s Jalapeno bread and it definitely had a bite. It was very good and I served it with chicken salad and beer. That’s right!!

I got one of the cookbooks of the favorite recipes of the Delray GreenMarket. It is called Tastes of the Season and it is for sale at the GreenMarket or you can also purchased it on line. Visit www.delraycra.org. In it you will find recipes like Southern Fried Chickpeas, Shrimp Cakes, Sweet Onion Casserole, Caribbean Shrimp with Pineapple Salsa and so much more.

Anyway, here are a few pictures from last Saturday’s GreenMarket. Hope you are there and have the opportunity to check it out this Saturday.

Have a great week-end!! And, talk to you later….
